Which ends the episode with them in love but unable to do anything about it, hence the 'bitter-sweet ending' plus its still openended because if the show were to ever enter production again they could have a comeback ep where their trying to win his soul back for good. Which is pretty consistent with every show or movie i have ever seen that delt with pacts with the devil.

I agree but it may still also have to do with revenge towards Leela/ Bender...   :hmpf:

I object to this ass kicking!   ;)

I think so far out of all of the possible endings that have been posted here, Evan's sounds the most plausible .. Is that the right word? Anyway it sounds like a damn decent storyline. I'm looking forward to this episode a lot, even more now I've seen this thread. I just hope we dont have to wait too long before we see it   :)

Agreed. If they can mix in just a few solid laughs, a great story and some sentimentality on a par with, say, Jurrasic Bark or Luck Of The Fryish, I'll be happy.

To quote from the interview I did with Keeler:
Quote
CGEF: Bar a renewal by FOX, your episode "The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings" might be the Futurama finale. Did you have to fight to get that episode or did no one want to take the burden of writing it?

Ken: There was never any fighting over ANY assignments, so far as I know. When 4ACV18 came up, I hadn't written an episode that year and everyone else had, so I don't think there was anything to think about.

CGEF: Think you did a good job?

Ken: No. But I've never been totally happy with any of the episodes I've written. (A possibly controversial statement: in my opinion, the best thing I ever wrote for TV was the "Principal Skinner is an Impostor" episode of "The Simpsons", which is often named as their "Jump the Shark" moment.)

I don't think we'll be disappointed though. The IMHO worst episode he did was The Honking, and even that one wasn't that bad.

I think that it'll be disappointing, just because we've been speculating about it for so long. Either it will be exactly like our ideas, making it predictable, or it'll be completely different, making it weird and scary. If FOX would stop being a bunch of asses and just air the final episodes, we wouldn't have to worry about it, and we could just sit back and enjoy Futurama.

As it looks right now we wont get to see this episode until "season 6". Considering the speculations that have already been made, can you imagine the frenzy we've worked ourself into by that time? It would be almost impossible for the episode to live up to those expectations.

Unless the episode somehow taps into our brains and shows each viewer a completely different ending to Futurama! Granted, most of them would involve naked Leela and Amy for the guys...but...

True, but you'll never know. Also we may have not to wait until 2006, but I'm quite confident, that there will be a "6th" season, consisting of those episode they weren't able to show this season.

I just know that Fry and Leela won't get together. Sure, Fry might be able to truly reveal his feelings in a different form, but that should be about it. The producers didn't want us speculating at the end and such.

Why should them getting together in the final episode leave us speculating?

Good point, Mc Grady. After all, a devil never keeps his promise, therefore Fry might get close to Leela's Heart, but then something unexpected will happen. Whatever that is...

Hopefully they won't get together.

Fry is too good for inferior genetic scum such as Leela. He'll cease to be my role-model in life if he stoops to that level.

Say that they do get together. All of the fans are going to be wondering, what happened after that?! I know I would be. I would hate for an episode to show me the beginning of a relationship and not the rest. You just know that PEELer would be posting theories on how they lived their lives afterwards.

I agree. I hate it whenever there is n episdoe that shows the beginning of somethinga you have to wait are not see the rest. A bit like the endind to The Lord of the Rings (1st one)

Except they made more LOTR films....so you DID see what happened. Not so with Futurama if FOX have their way.

i do want Leela and Fry to get together, but i do understand what you're saying. Mulder and Scully got together at the end of the series and i hated not knowing what happened after, but at the same time i would have been even more upset if they hadn't gotten together. So for me the frustration was worth it, and would also be worth it for Futurama. I like just having the knowledge that my fav charactors are together and happy even if i never get to see them that way. And as for peelers speculating, thats what makes for great fanscrips and lord knows we don't have enough of those.

Well... given the fact that there's 10 or so new episodes still to be shown... we probably won't be seeing the series finale until 2007, so I'm not gonna get my expectations too high...

What are you talking about?! They did kiss. French BTW.

Getting back to Fry and Leela...Venus, you're right now that I think about it. I guess our imagination will keep us entertained if they do end up together. I suppose it will be worth it. Hell, if the X-Files can do it, so can Futurama.

Welcome to PEEL Ssj.  :)

I seriously hope Fry and Leela do get together. Although I, like Ssj find it hard to imagine, either that or it would be just to wierd :/.

Also, I think the robot devil might want Bender's sole, since Bender isn't actually still off of the hook, he just escaped from robot hell.

I don't think we'll end up with a Season 6. That would be giving Futurama some respect, which (as we all know) is about as likely as... something very unlikely  :p. I think they'll just end up sporadically airing an episode when they haven't got anything else to air. Oh wait, that is a Futurama season in the eyes of fox .

Is it just me, BTW, or do a lot of these potential episode plots bear some resemblance to "The Little Mermaid"  ;)?
