What the fuck are you guys going on about?
On an average day, The Colbert Report is funnier than The Daily Show. But that is usually because Jon Stewart tries to be this straight guy, who has a point he wants across. As Colbert himself put it, "Jon spends his show de-constructing a story, while I spend my show constructing stories my own way". Which is likely the best way to describe the differences.
But on the few occasions when Jon Stewart portrays a caricature of himself and engages in a conflict with another television programme's host, he is ten times funnier than Colbert on his best days. They don't often have shows where he is like this, but it helps to increase the funny when it is only seldom they make use of it.
And while each show can be watched separately, I always watch them together, in order, because if you pay attention they are sort of a package. I like seeing how they tackle on the same news.
And honestly, Colbert is not without flaws. His best segments is when it is not about him. Which is ironically, because Stewart's best segments are when it is about him.
And anyone crazy enough to believe any of these shows have a political agenda; who the fuck do you think they are trying to convince? Those who watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report either already agrees with the show or are not about to have their views changed by a comedy show.
And all comedy shows have a political message, even if subtle. Just like Futurama, which have had one since season 1.

Whatever... why don't you leave forever? I was actually gonna leave forever, but I hate you soooo much I think I'll stay FOREVER. Bobs burgers is absolutely crap. Sorry, one man's opinion. It sucks.
Yeah, it's not for everyone. I've noticed most people hate it or love it.

I wish you wouldn't contradict yourself in the same post, Danny. You claim to be ignoring him, yet clearly you are not. I just wish he would actually contribute to the thread.

I ignore him in every thread I can. Occasionally he'll piss me off to the point where I must post. Overall, I skip 90% of his posts.

I am just surprised to see people being shocked that Futurama has a liberal bias. You people do know who is writing this shit?

Well...MacFarlane is also a liberal. Yet that does not prevent him from lashing out at every direction.

Lashing out in every direction is not an indication for lack of bias. It is often used as a compensation. 'We don't have a liberal bias, look at me making fun at liberals' expense!' Even Jon Stewart has admitted to this. Although, he does spend a lot of time making fun of liberals' seemingly inability to get anything done. Or other self-superior notions they spew forth. Just sayin'. Remember, bias is not about the obvious jokes you make, but about the subtle jokes you make.

Bias itself isn't even such a bad thing in this sort of medium. I actually disagree with Matt and Trey a lot of the time, but I still wouldn't trade South Park's libertarian(ish) political philosophy for something that squared more with my own. It's their show and their viewpoint, and they should do what they want with it, you know? Even when I disagree with them, they're funny, and it's largely their righteous indignation and willingness to mock things even I hold dear that makes me love the show so much. But...people tend to confuse this with thinking that a show has an agenda. It doesn't, not automatically anyway. Stewart and Colbert have admitted their "bias" numerous times and also always played down their importance to the political landscape. They explicitly do not think they are changing anyone's minds and are a little incredulous that anyone thinks they do; by their own admission, they're just making people who agree with them laugh. Nothing wrong with that. Matt G. is a mega liberal.
To the point where he is anti-gun, which is odd when you consider how violent Futurama can be at times.
Why would this be so surprising? For one thing, like a lot of smart people Matt Groening can presumably distinguish between fantasy violence and real, makes-actual-people-dead violence. But also, violence can be used to progress story/character points or even make political points against violence. (Joss Whedon is a good example of this in television; his shows are full of violence and guns, but he actually especially abhors guns, and a lot of episodes of his shows have pretty overt anti-gun sentiments in them.) Although violence is often played for laughs on it, I wouldn't say that Futurama specifically glorifies violence or guns.

Yes. It amazes me how many people cannot grasp the concept of subtext or the tension of a dichotomy. The example that always comes to mind for me is the music video for Devo's "Beautiful World" - both people IRL that I've talked to plus the comments on YouTube are overwhelmingly dominated by people who thought the video made no sense because the title of the song is beautiful world, and the content of the video was wars, poverty, atomic bombs etc. Sometimes people say the opposite of what they mean to make a point. Futurama does this constantly and that's why I love it.

If your profile tells the truth and you really are 25, I feel sorry for you. I'm 10 years younger than you and have better spelling, grammar and post construction.
I'm not trying to join in on this, but I gotta agree with Danny. MuchAdo does have some pretty bad grammar at times. Just thinking about a 25 year old with bad grammar and spelling like that makes me wanna puke I'm only 14 years old, and even I think I got better grammar and spelling than MuchAdo. Not trying to offend, just saying.

Anyway I agree; Danny does in fact suck.
Another thing I realized: It's funny how we sound alot more mature than you. You just keep on going on and on about Danny Sucks. (Which he doesn't) You already let out your opinion, so shut up! I don't think a 25 year old would act this way. Unless he was an alcoholic. I mean, this is a Futurama Ratings thread! Not a Who-Hates-Who Thread. So please MuchAdo, just STOP! If you got more to say, just PM it. Because nobody is interested in your hates of Danny and the community.

And Futurama's ratings come back up! Not in a amazing way though.
Futurama CMDY 10:00 PM 1.179 0.6
That's alot better than last week's episode rating. Hopefully now they will get higher since the Summer is sadly ending. I guess my hypothesis may be right! We'll see......
