Is it at all wrong for me to be GLAD that Futurams ratings haven't been getting too high? I'd be devastated if the ratings get low enough for re-cancellation to rear its mighty, ugly head, but i kinda like that the Futurama communites are filled just with people who are hardcore fans. I know that if I make obscure Futur jokes here then everyone is on the same page. Besides it they get too low i will embark on a mission to reproduce with many, many women and buy tvs, and lock out every channel other than CC for the inevitable new humans that would result.

I'd love for the show to do enormous ratings as there's still be a hardcore fan community and it'd only mean things like the show getting a higher budget and more safety from a cancellation point of view -meaning we wouldn't get a million "last episode ever" episodes and the choppy stop-start nature of the show (the very start of season 6 was poor) wouldn't be a problem any more.

I'd be surprised if the ratings changed much from here on out.

I feel like getting great ratings won't diminish the awesomeness of the nerdlinger community. I think it could only help. They've already had to cut back on the CGI budget, right? Not good.

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the audience sizes for season 6A and 6B.  6B is averaging about 500K fewer viewers per episode than 6A had.  (The episodes are arranged in broadcast order, not production order.)

Click on chart for full-sized version.

I am guessing that the 13th episode of season 6B (Reincarnation) will beat the 13th episode of season 6A (Futurama Holiday Spectacular) in audience size.  It seems clear to me that putting FHS by itself, many months after the previous episode first aired, probably cost about half a million viewers.  This mistake will not be made this time.

Good, I hated waiting all those extra months last year, especially when the ep itself was such a disappointment. Hopefully Reincarnation won't be so disappointing. I'm sure it won't be though, I meant it can't be that bad surely?...

I'm looking forward to it myself.  What I have seen of the Japanimation segment in particular, has had me LMAO.  The big problem is that once it airs, it will be nine months until the next new Futurama -- that's a long time to wait!

Of  course, we waited a lot longer after the original run ended.

Pfft, it'll be a year and 9 or 10 months 'til we get Season 7 in the UK!

(If they do what they have done with Season 6. :()

I'm in Canada, the new Futurama episodes do not air here at all.  The Comedy Network has the rights to broadcast the show, but they have chosen not to do so -- although they do enthusiastically prevent anybody else from airing them, plus block the Comedy Central website from downloading the episodes to my computer.

So I have obtained the episodes the same way as most of the people here, even the ones in the UK.

But importing the DVDs/blu-rays isn't a big deal in Canada given that it's a lot cheaper and the same region.

Listen, Gorky.  The world is changing.  The Internet is beating the establishment, and record companies, film industry representations and whatnot are fighting tooth and nail to survive for as long as possible even though they are about to be replaced.

If they want us to turn on television and watch advertisement, then perhaps they should make it actually worth it.  It seems to more and more people that they can get everything a lot easier and cheaper (even free!) using the Internet.  And considering how the big businesses are treating them as criminals (or just being dicks in general), they don't have moral problems with 'stealing'* their products.

*It's not actually stealing, because they don't lose a copy of their product.

Well, I'm hoping they will release both together as one gigantic season in the UK. If the announce it before the American 6B drops then I'll probably hold out for the UK one and just get the whole set (I don't mind having 6A again in this circumstance). If nothing is announced in the UK though, then I will be importing 6B from America. I hope they announce something in the UK soon, because ultimately importing it is a last resort for me and I'd rather just buy the set here...

CC promotes the heck outta Futurama, but most of the time the commercials will just show a silly Zoidberg gag. I don't think any viewers out there know what they're missin'.

Still, that's better than shitty Sky. They show clips from the movies...

And then in the second trailer, clips from the old seasons, and like 2 clips from Season 6 while the most ridiculous song ever plays over it... :nono:

No idea, it's just poorly made dramatic music with voices constantly going 'AAAAAAAAHHHHHM' 'AAAAAAAAHHHHM'

Then this really high pitched guy goes 'AAAAAAAAAAAIIIIHHHHHMM!'

Terrible. If I wasn't a Futurama fan and just a normal viewer, the song would put me off slightly.

Just watched, that's simply awful and barely quantifies as a song. I see what you mean about their adverts mainly containing old clips and very little from actual Season 6 :nono:...

Did they show all of BBS? I saw the last bit of Part 3 and all of Part 4, and then Overclockwise. It would have been kind of weird if they didn't show the whole movie, but okay.

I like those ratings! Excellent, excellent.

That they did. I don't understand why they insist on showing it episodically when showing it as a cohesive and uninterrupted movie is much more satisfying. But there are those fun little bumpers and additional opening captions and such, so I guess it's worth it.

The Simpsons and South Park shoulda counted their movies as episodes to pad their total as well.

That's good news about the ratings though, everyone. A steady 1.5 is probably good enough to be in CC's top 3 right? Behind tosh.0 and SP.

When I first saw BBS (back in late 2008, it got me hooked), they showed it in episodic format, and they always managed to end it on the best part, I'd be like 'FFFUUUUU' and then I'd have to wait an entire week for the next part. It was great, gave me something to look forward to. :D I guess it works both ways, even if you watch the episodic format in one big go, you may not get the thrill of waiting for the next episode, but you get the additional captions and bumpers. :D
