The worst Futurama episode ever. My, how boring... I don't even remember one funny joke in the episode, besides Farnsworth's "No". It was so terrible it made me angry
I give it a grade F (or whatever is lowest in your country)... What an anti-climax. Futurestocks was one of my favorite episodes, and I really hoped it had set a standard for the episodes that was to come   :hmpf:

While I didn't think it was as bad as what Ricky did, I still found it very uninspired. The whole thing just wasn't funny. 4/10.

People, people...when you all learn to look at the production codes? This episode was produced a while before Futurestock.

Wha?! Futurstocks Sucked! 'A Leela of her own' was good, not the best but still good! One hell of a lot better than Future'Strokes'! Blech!

Futurestocks was better and had more humor. A leela of her own was one of those episodes with a "morale" in it....  :(

"Futurestock" didn't suck, but it was pretty dull. Very average, nice but average. "A Leela Of Her Own" had several LOL moments. I think I've seen the show about 7 or 8 times by now, but I still laugh every time Leela beans down a batter. Bender and Fry's lines also draw a smile and a giggle here and then. And Farnsworth's few lines is hillarious.

And if any of the shows had a morale, it was "Futurestock", not "A Leala Of Her Own"

Well, Ill cede that 'FutureStrokes' was average. But 'A Leela Of Her Own' was way better. That Black box generater alone was better than any joke in 'FutureStrokes'. Too me 'FutureStrokes' was nothing more than a filler episode. No plot development at all. And I can understand an eps thats purely for humore but it don' work unless there is alot of it. And 'FutureStrokes' just didn't make the cut.     :nono:

First watch of Futurestock I didn't find it very funny but it certainly grew on me (I've got to stop voting until I've seen eps at least twice!) but A Leela of her own is just a bit too "soapy" for me. I just felt that the plot was nothing special. There was no reason for this plot to be set in the 31st century, it would have worked just as well as an episode of the Simpsons.

I feel the same way.  "Futurestock" gets better with each viewing.  "Leela of Her Own" is still very middling.

I thought this was a great episode, I laughed out loud every time Leela beaned another batter, the black box thing was cool as well.

Archie2K, this thread is about A Leela of her own, that is the one where she becomes a pitcher for the NNY Mets and keeps hitting the batter in the head.

I liked it. It had some good jokes and references.

"We all have to pretend to like each other".

Leela's 7/8 number.

Unfortunately Blurnsball still makes absolutely no sense to me.

Still a 3/5. As good as Futurestocks, not as good as Godfellas.

I thought it was bloody hilarious but I really felt sorry for Leela, just as a character rather than my favourite she really got the short end of the stick.  :hmpf:

Good episode, but not enough Sci-Fi or cool visuals. I’m not that keen on sport related episodes, and Blurnsball wasn’t insane enough. Some great moments, but as a whole I didn’t find it anything special. Bender was the comic relief, Leela was in character, nothing much to complain about, but nothing particularly original either, just another good Futurama.

I seriously likes this episode. Many jokes were right on the spot
"Go! Get those no good signoids. Show them they stink in a game they've never played before!"

I generally hate everything that has the word "sports" in it, but i'll make a monumentous exception to this case.
Great ep IMHO.

The first episode of season four that I haven't been able to watch on its première night.  Unfortunately, the TV in my university hall's common room, where I usually watch it, was showing the football at seven o'clock last night, so I wasn't able to watch 'A Leela Of Her Own'.  :(

If I'm lucky, my girlfriend's parents may be able to record the repeat on Friday for me, and I'll be able to see it next Sunday, or if not, I'll have to wait a month until I go back home.   :(

I don't know how to say this, I don't think they're repeating it. They're showing something about Michael Owen instead. That's according to the Sky Digital TV guide.

For God sake someone please prove me wrong!

[Edit] Shit, RadioTimes just confirmed it, I am so sorry mate.  :(

Thank God I kicked my Dad out of the TV room.

By the way I am quite surprised not many people liked this episode, but I think it is because it is about sport. Sci-fi & sport do not make a good combination.

FishyJoe: Look at PCC's profile. It says interestsx are soccer and f1, so I'm assuming thats a 5 star rating.

Finally, a month after not being able to see the UK premiere of 'A Leela Of Her Own', I finally get to watch it.  And for a season four episode, it really wasn't that bad.  OK, I didn't get any of the baseball references, having not seen a game in my life, and as usual, I didn't have a clue who the heads in the jars were, but overall, it was still an enjoyable episode.

The first part was great, especially Fry's memories of his delivery boy days, the Professor's (and Leela's) racism, and the pizzaria scene.  From then on, it's a bit thin on laughs, although Bender's line about all races being equally inferior to robots and Leela hitting the Professor were great.

Like most people, I was disappointed that blernsball was more 'normal' than before, except for the end of the match, which was funny.

Although I was hoping for a positive ending for Leela, I still thought that the 'all the girls want to prove they're better than you' idea was funny, and I liked that other one being hit by the towel.  This should really have been the episode's ending - the last scene was pointless.

Overall, I'll giver this episode 3/5.  Good for season 4, but it still would have stuck out as a bad episode in earlier seasons.

Straight from the website of the Devil (aka FOX):
Leela learns there is no crying in blernesball on 'FUTURAMA'

I know it's a minor point, but it again goes to show how little FOX actually thinks of this show, when they can't even get things like this right. Next they'll probably call it "Futurerama".

I hope you Aussies got all the Baseball/Mets inside jokes, it was kind of an episode for Mets fans (or haters), so don't hold that against it, I really like this episode.  But hey, the Mets are on a winning streak as we speak.  Maybe it's all the bean balls.
