No.  As funny as Arrested Development is, I am genuinely more a fan of Futurama.  Besides, you are asking a question that will only end in tears.  You suck, Books.

Yeesh, I don't know.  I love both shows, but I think I'd go with Futurama because of characters.  Both shows made me laugh really hard and I quote both everyday, but I think the cast of Futurama is a lot more likeable so I'd rather spend more time with them.

Still...GOB...

Even though I love Arrested Development, no. I like Futurama better.

And I would say the same even if you switched AD with Firefly.

i wouldnt trade either of them! I am a HUGE Arrested Development fan, i can quote every episode line for line from the pilot to the finale (i can also do this for futurama for the most part, though not the movies... yet)  The reality is i am an optimist, i believe that both shows could survive again in the right circumstances, and i dont like to think that one show would have to fall for another to be saved. would i trade 'The Cleveland show' or 'The Goode Family' or some other Crap-o-Rama to save Arrested? any day, But I love Futurama.

The reality is the two shows can not be properly compared, first of all, the animation/live action gap is a huge deal, and the shows are just entirely different. Futurama feeds my inner nerd, and my general love for funny and high quality animation, and it also feeds my inner slob and my imagination. Arrested Development feeds the side of me that loves goofy real life situations, complex season long story lines, jokes that are so complex that in some cases you have to have watch the entire series to get a joke in season 1, and extremely intelligent social commentary that is both funny and timely (not that futurama doesnt do that from time to time, but nothing can beat things like George Sr being found in the Fox hole etc...) its really just 2 different shows that i love... in fact, as i write this i have been searching for the perfect thing to say and i think ive got it:

asking me to decide between Futurama and Arrested Development is like asking a mother of newborn twins which one she loves more...

EDIT: for those of you who voted as having never seen Arrested Development... Truly, SHAME on you!

I would never trade Futurama for any show!  Arrested Development is okay, not too bad nor too good.   For suggesting trading Futurama for AD, no way!  How can a fan even think that?!

I would.

If the first movie was any indication, then uncancelled Futurama just isn't as good as original flavor Futurama.  Plus, I like Arrested Development better than Futurama anyway.  I don't know if I did when I first watched the shows, but Arrested Development holds up better on repeat viewing.

That said, I don't think that bringing Arrested Development back now would work.  It's been too long, and the kids are older now, not to mention that all of the cast has moved on to other things.

From what I've seen of AD...no; Futurama is something I'd watch regularly, and buy merchandise for - AD isn't. It'd be the same if it were Simpsons v. Futurama; I like both shows, but I'm willing to support Futurama.

God, I really hope that after the 24th this whole stupid situation gets resolved. :(

that show was good, but it was literally too fast for the american public, literally the show had so many jokes in so short a time that people simply could not keep up

i mean... it had a lot of jokes that were EXTREMELY subtle, they went over a lot of peoples heads, and im not trying to say that people who didnt get them were dumb. the jokes were TOO subtle and smart, as there is in fact an acceptable level, and sit down shut up was over the level and couldnt survive

It's really easy to just say "well it had a lot of subtle jokes that people didn't catch that's why it didn't get recognized!!" but I can't remember many of the jokes being particularly subtle. I just remember the really overbearing meta crap, which was pretty far from subtle. I could feel some AD-ish vibes coming from SDSU but those two shows are NOWHERE near the same level, at least not with what we saw.

Re: Thread. No. I have endless adoration for Futurama and I have endless adoration for AD and I would have preferred for neither to have gotten kicked around but ultimately, thinking about it more long-term, Futurama has a better chance for survival. You can get more out of it because it is animated - look at The Simpsons. AD would have to acknowledge the age changes though, particularly where GM and Maeby are concerned. Plus being live action it's just generally more limited. Futurama started up ten years ago - Fry still looks the same as he did ten years ago, will look the same ten years from now. Futurama could, theoretically, go on another ten years. Arrested Development probably couldn't.

nah, the problem wasn't that sit down shut up was too fast, too subtle, or had too many in-jokes. the problem was that it wasn't funny.

How can I choose between these 2? That's just not fair, Books :(

I find both shows have their own appeal so I couldn't possibly choose for either one to be canceled

Arrested development is probably definitely the greatest live-action sitcom of all time.  But that is the problem; The actors (the kids specifically) have all grown up as opposed to voice acting it doesn't really matter about their age.  I love Arrested Development, but I would rather have Futurama.

Hopefully the Arrested Development Movie will get written; Jason Bateman (Michael Bluth) said It should be out late next year.

No need to, AD is on its way back in movie form, which turns the question into "would I like to switch the upcoming episodes of Futurama and Arrested Development movie for episodes of Arrested Development and a Futurama movie?" and that answer is a no too. Futurama movies, the ones we have anyway, are designed to be split into episodes and feel a little off because of it, I doubt that'll happen in the Arrested movie.

No the show is over and besides there is an AD movie coming out. So there would be no need for the trade.

I liked Arrested Development but I liked Futurama alot more.  I would not trade for any cancelled program other than possibly to get Walter Cronkrite and Eric Sevareid back on the evening news but that would be a little more difficult.

What the fuck is Invader Zim? I don't think we get that in Australia. Is it a kid's cartoon or a semi-adult one? Because the former doesn't rate here.
