I think I know why Futurama and the Simpson's were not on this Sunday.
-They would be in competition with the Oscars. So Fox (I'm guessing) wanted to preserve the new episodes for a larger audience.
What say ye?

Yep, although the Oscars didn't start here untill 7:30, so they would have lost no viewers. Nothing wrong with having a break after how many new episodes 3 or 4?

LotR has 3 right now
Black Hawk down has 2
Moulin Rouge has 2

I thought Shrek had been out for ages but still got lots of stuff at the BAFTAs so I'm guessing it still counts as this year.

Shrek was a summer film, most of the Oscar films this year were released in late winter/fall. Studios release them at that time so they can keep fresh in the mind of academy voters.

I don’t mind Beautiful Mind getting best picture, but I think LotR deserved best director, Peter Jackson put his heart and soul into that movie, and took a much larger risk then Ron Howard did with his film.

moving this to TV forum, since technically it's about the oscars, not futurama
