The episode I watch the least has to be "That's Lobstertainment". It just didn't work for me.

That's Lobstertainment isn't that good overall but I always enjoy watching it because it has some really good lines and how can anyone not enjoy Boxy?

I re-watched the honking, and I still didn't like it much. Funny, it used to be my favorite.

And I really liked "The Cryonic Woman"

And whats with all this That's Lobster-Tainment bashing? Thats one of my favorites.

Bender's game is the most pointless and boring piece of Futurama ever. (in my opinion)

The first and last movies are really awesome, but the second and especially the third bores me big time.

And for the episodes i would say : "the cryonic woman" and "where no fans has gone before".

Quote from: stocker08
Im with him.  The four movies were the worst, but they were not episodes so I am going to go with Bend Her and Kif get Knocked up a Notch.

And there, in the wilds of the internet is the elusive Futurama Movie-Hater. This creature knows nothing of comparison and vastly different styles. For him, every Futurama movie is the same absolute piece of trash that is inferior to every episode of the series, even I Dated A Robot or Obsolete Fabulous. So blinded by his nostalgia is he, that he won't even admit that possibly each movie should be rated differently and likely at least one movie will rank higher than an episode. Thank you for reading on tonight's Wild Kingdom.

No, not the movie hater.  I would also like to say that there were good parts of every movie and a few of the "episodes" may not be that bad.

My point being, after every movie I watched, I felt a sort of dissapointment, something I never felt after watching ANY of the episodes.  Maybe I have a bias towards the episodes.  As a futurama fan, waiting years for new material makes the letdown of movies hit me that much harder.

I know what you mean, stocker08. For the most part the movies as a whole were a disappointment. To wait 5 years (well, more like 1 and a half since rumors started cropping up around early 2006) for new episodes and to get mostly cut apart half stories was not an outcome I hoped for. I expected the very best the writers could do and they didn't totally deliver (http://www.peelified.com/index.php?topic=17266.msg1021789#msg1021789).

Still, I don't feel that all the movies are horrible. While I unabashedly hate TBWABB with a passion, I feel that bits of BBS and BG have the makings of great episodes in them. Taken as those two are I feel they at least match an "average" episode of Futurama (kinda hard to pick an average one to me, actually, but you get the idea). On the other hand, I absolutely love ITWGY. I think it's absolutely one of the best episodes the shows ever done. So whenever somebody says "the four movies were the worst" I get kinda defensive about it. I don't like ITWGY getting lumped in with the other three (and as I previously stated, I think that BBS and BG are at least decent.).

stocker08, I'd like to hear your full thoughts on the movies. Would you mind writing reviews for them on the movie thread (when you have some time)?

it just seems to me that all four of the movies on the whole were pretty good, but they had moments that were irritating.  I.E. The story of Bender and Fanny just ending, Leela's shock collar, etc.  It is just hard to pin down an entire episode, or movie, as all around terrible.  I really think that there are parts to each one that make it unique, as opposed to the newer Simpsons episodes that are just terrible with maybe one or two laughs in them.   . . .Or maybe I am an idiot haha

Yeah, i guess it was a little unfair to clump all of the movies together as one.  I could definitely go back and give the movies another watch.  I will try to write up some reviews too with my pros and cons of each.

Agree with you about "The Cryonic Woman"; a pox on you for "Where No Fan Has Gone Before", which is one of my favorites.  I guess it has to do with whether you're a fan of Star Trek TOS or not...

Hell no, it doesn't. I've loved Where No Fan Has Gone Before pretty much since the first time I saw it. It just has an extra punch for me now that I have watched TOS.

As for worst episodes for me, I don't think any are inherently bad, like to the point where I can't even stand to watch them. I probably won't go out of my way to seek them but if it's a rerun I'll still watch.

Probably episodes like... The Cryonic Woman, Obsoletely Fabulous, A Leela of Her Own. And The Beast With a Billion Backs and Bender's Game, maybe, but that's more parts of those movies than the entirety of the movies themselves.

I think the first half of Bender's Game is really good, and only held back by the second half delaying it's ending. Strangely enough, I think the second half of that episode could have been good if it wasn't held back by it's ties to the first half and it's running time. In other words, they really should have been separate episodes, but function decently together.

Yeah, Frisco's right--an adult would've said most fecal shit. Or at least shittiest feces. Don't they teach you anything in middle school?

And as far as the enjoyment of "Where No Fan Has Gone Before" goes: I have yet to see more than one episode of any of the various Star Trek incarnations, but that episode is indisputably hilarious. It's basically a send-up of geek culture in general (viewed in terms of Star Trek, of course), and I'm pretty sure most of us can relate to that.

I've heard that before.  I think that some of the jokes were specifically written for an older age group.  If I were a younger Futurama viewer, I might not get a lot of the Richard Nixon jokes; I'd have no experience to relate them to.  Personally, having been around when he was President, I find a lot of that episode to be totally hilarious.

I wasn't around for Nixon and I still love that one. Maybe I just know enought about history to get most of the jokes but even without them, Robot Nixon exploding through the flag is one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Yeah; I love that bit about him referring to his dog checkers, who barks, and nixon screams "Shut up, Dammit!"  Or him yelling "Nixon's BAAACK!" when he's breaking into the White House.  It's a great episode...

That's just awesome dialog; the writers for Futurama are the best.  I've said it before, and I'll say it again; even the worst episode of Futurama is still miles ahead of all the dribble on TV nowadays...

There's one or two great lines, and the bit at the end with the stock rising and falling is good, but on the whole, Future Stock doesn't do it for me.  It feels like it leaves out a lot of the characterization formed over previous seasons.  Maybe if it was a season one episode, but not in season three.

Personally, I don't care much for "A Leela of Her Own".  I like the beginning of that episode (yay, Fry helps the foreign people!!), and there are some funny lines, as always.  But yeah, that's probably my least favorite Futurama episode.

Also, "The Birdbot of Ice-Catraz" is another least-favorite episode.  That episode didn't do much for me.  But like CromagnonMan said, it definitely has its moments.

And by the way, I actually like "The Cryonic Woman".  I love any episode that deals with the cryogenic lab and Fry's past.  XD

"That's Lobstertainment" is funny, too.  It isn't one of my favorites, but I like that episode.

The 1st 2 movies were a real disappointment, to the point I didn't bother with the 2nd 2.

I get that they suffered from high expectations; 2nd album syndrome and a jaded audience; odd pacing to allow them to be made into episodes; etc. And while there were always at least a few really good bits, as discrete artifacts they were just such a let-down.

The Honking is the only episode I don't get SOMETHING out of.  Well, I get a bit out of Calculon being a were-car.  But very little.  Even the "average" eps of Futurama are pretty good.

Well, Bender's Game wasn't a favourite, like I haven't made it obvious enough, but looking back on the classic episodes recently, I can't really think that any of them are that bad. However, whilst I thought it was a good episode, and let's face it, you can put Zapp in any episode and it will be funny, but I think some of Where the Buggalo Roam was a little bit of a loss. It wasn't because of the relationship with Amy and Kif, because Amazon Women (Of course) and Kif Gets Knocked Up a Notch were brilliant episodes, but I think it might be because Where the Buggalo Roam lacked something that those 2 did.

There were a few episodes I did not enjoy like "That's Lobstertainment" or "The Honking" or even "Insane In The Mainframe".

But after watching it again... and again... they've started to grow on me. I guess I like all of the episodes  :)

Now, the movies on the other hand, that's another story
