Didn't Farnsworth make a comment about failing to invent a time machine in "A Clone of My Own"?

Yep. It took him 15 years before he gave up on it. Too bad. If it had worked he could have gone back and told himself not to waste his time on it.

Oh. They showed it too.(looked a lot like the movie version except solid Gold (The Professor seems to have a thing for Gold).

Oh!  Sorry for assuming wrong.  I haven't read that comic so the idea never occurred to me as a serious thought.

No Leela and Amy. We all know how well the shipping community took to Erik Heifner's "blimp" comic <snip> I can't pin-point it, but it was just... ick.

Which is precisely the reason to go ahead and do it! I mean, did they take any notice of shipper's annoyance at the constant use of the reset button? Nope! In anycase wasn't that storyline mooted by the writers to test fan's reactions? Maybe they got the reaction they wanted.

Quote
Besides, seems like Fry and Leela's and Amy and Kif's relationship will be stable in the new season.

Interesting.. source please? Kif has forgiven Amy's indiscretions quickly before (Zapp), maybe Fry will take a little longer with Leela. Perhaps Leela will have to deal with unrequited love for a change, heh.

What?!?

You really want to see Amy grinding Leela, don't you?
Wasn't that comic not by the Futurama staff?

I said "seems". That should be taken as an assumption.

Sure, there will be bumps and potholes in both of their relationships, but I think we can expect those relationships after "Into the Wild Green Yonder".

The writers would have to be absolutely mindless to use the reset button and not address what happened after the crew traveled through the wormhole.

A year is so long to wait looking for new information but no luck also what do you think will happen when the 26 episodes have aired do you think it will continue on or be cancelled one more thing comedy central never cancel shows really, so maybe futurama will be around for a long time.

Holy run-on sentences, Batman!

I think the show could easily continue.  Comedy Central wouldn't be ordering two seasons at once if they weren't serious about resurrecting the show.  Granted, part of the reason for the 26 episode order is to break 100 episodes, which I guess makes it easier for Fox to sell the series- I dont pretend to understand how that all works- but I dont think that's the only reason.

Soylent Orange: Agreed. If they just wanted the 100 episodes they would have just ordered 12. They (FOX/CC) must see long-term profits in the franchise ('bout time!).

Aww...I heart Billy West (so much so that I feel it necessary to use heart as a verb synonymous with love. That's a deep devotion, my friend). Let DXC and MG be annoyed by West's supposed gun-jumping all they want--but they'd be hard-pressed to find a guy so passionate about his work, and about the show. He's brilliant. And hysterical.

Thanks for the link, wbb.

I wonder if Billy ever gets tired of repeating the same things in all of his interviews. In every one of his interviews I've seen they always ask him about his voices and he has to repeat his stories about how he came up with them. This one was especially strange since it was almost all just the interviewers goading him into voices. If it annoys him he is certainly being a good sport about it.

Yeah, that "interviewer" was pretty annoying, eh? I just chalked it up to the fact that he works for Fox News.

Edit (so as not to seem like a liberally-biased Fox News hater...which, in fairness, I sort of am): Generally speaking, it bothers me when the interviewer clearly knows maybe three facts about their subject, but then compensates for the gaps in their knowledge by laughing obnoxiously and asking questions whose answers are obvious to the interviewee's fanbase. And the questions are always posed with such certainty. I should just stay away from news in general; broadcast pseudo-journalists annoy the crap out of me.

And I'm mad that Billy West interview didn't really go into what we should expect from the new episodes, but meh it's Fox News. At least we have Comic Con to look forward to. Anybody going to it? If so, make sure to plug PEEL in your question!

Billy probably has no idea.  If there are scripts already written, I rather doubt he would have access to them.

He'll probably find out at Comic Con just like the rest of us.

Does anyone think they'll ever reference BWABB? I know that the other movies will have to be referenced (BBS for Fry's family, BG for Igner and Dark Matter, ITWGY for the start of Season 6 and F/L's relationship) but what about the Beast could they reference? It would certainly be an awkward moment for F/L and K/A if they did.

I could see them referencing Amy's pseudo-infidelity, as that was the only thing of true consequence, continuity-wise, that happened in TBWaBB. I don't think it would be awkward, necessarily, but I could see Zapp bringing it up whenever the opportunity might arise (much like he does now with his "ex-lover Turanga Leela, whom [he] once made love at"). But Yivo, Colleen, and the debacle that was made of the characterization of Fry and Leela...eh, I don't see any need for the writers to mention that.

For now, Cohen’s more interested in getting down to business and cranking out “fast, good episodes.” The show will “explore the society of the future” rather than staging epic battles like the ones in the feature-length Futurama flicks, Cohen said.

“The DVD movies, due to their long nature, had to put the universe on the line,” he said. “It’s something you have to have in 90 minutes of sci-fi animation, along with slower pacing and more music. But now we can get back to Bender saying mean, funny things.”
-from wired's interview with David X after the story broke.

oh chief, you've made me the girl in the world!

I loved the movies, and their epic nature, but they didnt feel quite the same as the past episodes. Of course, as david X explained and most of us knew, there was good reason for that. However, i am very excited for futurama to return to its "fast, good" roots, taking a look at little social nuances of today, and applying them to the year 3000 where anything is possible, and of course, bender being bender.

EDIT- since we can spoil a bit here, my guess is that the "sexual relationship" described in the interview somehow involved the professor, nothing funnier (and more vomit inducing) than old people sex.

It's already been done with The Prof and Mom.

Unless it's a hot threeway with Wernstrom, Zoidberg and The Prof. :puke:

Im Whel aware of that... however, you should notice i only mentioned the professor, that indeed leaves many options open for others. my guesses are either that this relationship involved zoiberg and prof or prof and amy.

I remember in some other thread (might have been on the Madhouse boards) someone mentioned that DXC might be being literal when he said "a shocking, sexual relationship". This person speculated that Bender will relapse into electricity abuse and take Leela along for the ride (a sequel episode to events in Hell is Other Robots and Bender's Game).

i just thought of a great plot idea! Old-timey episode chronicling the history of blernsball! there can be a part on integration,  a history of the old robot leagues("it was then that scientists from moms robot company decided to modify a howitzer, and pitch-o-mat 5000 was born") , the landmark decision that made steroid injections mandatory and more!
