as if you needed another reason for why futurama should come back, heres one more. Last night after seeing Star Trek with a fellow futurama fan, we decided the right thing to do would be to watch "where no fan has gone before." This got me thinking, how funny would an episode be where the actors from the original star trek cast faced off against the cast of the new star trek. i think the potential is awesome! We could see the return of melllvar, or perhaps a new enemy (eric bana's head?) thoughts?

Just have to add this for no reason:
in the movie (dont worry, NO SPOLERS) there is a scene where there are people shooting laser guns inside of a spaceship. as soon as i saw the people start shooting, i leaned over to my buddy and said "no shoot fire stick in space canoe!"

Jigielnik: I think your forgetting the entire point of 411 was to show how much of and impact ST:TOS had/could have on our culture. At this point there is no guarantee that the new cast of Star Trek/the new movie (series?) will be as culturally relevant as the classic cast and series.

this is indeeed very true, however, there are plenty of times that Futurama has had guest stars not there for that reason. just because the first time the whole Star Trek cast appeared on futurama was to show the shows impact on our culture, doesnt mean they cant come again for a different reason. moreover, the new trek doesnt have to become as culturally relevant as the original series for its stars to appear in an episode . remember that 2 members of the the original cast appeared on the show before, for no cultural relevancy reasons. i think an episode with both casts would be great regardless of how this new trek movie impacts society in the future. (though personally i think these cast members will become about as well known as the cast of next generation and the original series, especially with the main cast signed on for 2 more sequels, one already being written as we speak)

another random quote for fun:
"they're drawing power from our weapons!"

If they don't we'll be left with a worthless guest appearance and possibly episode because the episode/appearance doesn't have any lasting appeal. I don't see the point of bringing on a guest star that doesn't have a serious reason to be there (http://www.peelified.com/index.php?topic=16354.msg1027852#msg1027852).

i read your post, and to be honest, it really seems we're at a simple difference of opinion (i for one enjoy the so called "worthless" guest stars on both the simpsons and futurama, if not just for the shock value) lucy lui for example, i liked her appearance, she acted well, it was funny, and they wrote to her character and personality, i dont need a guest actor to have any significance at all for me to enjoy it. i do respect your opinions, honestly, and i can see why you would want the guests to have more meaning (and its certainly not a bad thing when that happens)

I can respect that. I add that one of the reasons I don't like "worthless" guest stars is that I feel that they take away time from the writers to write more jokes for the characters. They end up wasting time writing funny lines for someone I don't feel is worth it.
