A: Because that was the name of his old granny* who had a tarpaper shack on Montego Bay. And his parents knew that appeasing her by naming their first-born son after her was the only way to prevent her zombie from coming back and haunting that branch of the family.

* God rest her zombie bones.

Q: What the hell is tarpaper, anyway? And how effective can it possibly be as a building material?

« #558 : 01-03-2010 03:20 »

A: Tar paper is a heavy-duty paper used in construction. Tar paper is made by impregnating paper with tar. Tar paper is used, among other things, for waterproofing roofs to prevent ingress of moisture. It is used as base layer for asphalt, wood (a.k.a. shake), or other shingles, or even gravel, since tar paper itself isn't particularly wind- or sun-resistant. So in essence its a good building material, but only when teamed with other building materials.

Q: Why on earth would Fry ever wish he was back in the 20th century?

Q:  Would it be cool if the Futurama characters went to a planet that's like a spaghetti western?
