If Futurama does come back, I seriously won't mind waiting another year for it.
Yeah I think by this point we're all used to waiting for Futurama, it's what we do...

You guys are acting like we didn't wait three years to hear any information about the shows return before; it's only been only three months since Green Yonder.

tvshowsondvd.com/news/futurama mentions that Amazon.com has this available for pre-order: Comic Con Exclusive includes all four volumes of Futurama, as well as 4 feature-length adventures: Bender´s Big Score, The Beast With A Billion Backs, Bender´s Game, Into the Wild Green Yonder all contained in a limited edition collectible Bender Head with a numbered letter from Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. Now, does comic con exclusive mean that there will be a Futurama panel at comic con this year? If not, why bother? I mean, why not just announce it as a Futurama all-seasons-and-movies compililation? Why the comic con connection at all?

I'm skeptical, as always--but if this is true, that'd obviously be amazing. I must say, the distinct lack of spelling errors and egregious mistruths about Futurama itself put this blurb in a respectable position. Also, I don't think a website has much to gain from lying and/or making up news stories regarding Futurama. Let's face it: our beloved show isn't the most popular thing on TV or DVD. I fail to see the benefits of saying the show's come back, just for the hell of it.
Which is my long-winded way of saying: yay, I hope this is true. It's certainly not impossible, at any rate.

Cinema Blend's article on it, which is linked in the "Futurama News" section of the Main Page of the Forum, only gives the Collider article as reference. I've never heard of Collider before, so I'd wait before getting hopes up too high. Let's wait for somebody with authority in the area, whether it be a more reliable site or magazine or mArc, to confirm this before getting our wazoos in a knot.

13 episode season also sounds like a simple bet.
The number itself should be no indicator whether it is true though, any one with a bit experience in the TV industry will know that a first season of a show is always on 13 episodes; unless they believe they can get more out of it with more episodes (or less).
Anyway, this source certainly tries to make clear it is a rumour, but at the same time ain't shy to put its own credibility at stake, which must mean that it is pretty confident it going to happen.
It doesn't include "if"s and "maybe"s, only statements that it will occur in the near future. Terrible journalism if it is wrong, excellent scoop if it is correct.

Thanks for checking in, mArc. You usually are our #1 informant when it comes to these matters. I look forward to whatever you can find out.
Speaking of whatever you can find out, has anybody tried Billy West's forum? He's usually the first to break the news.

I cannot comment on this since I'm in Tokyo right now and forgot to take my address book... So, no checking with other sources for me yet. Well then, I can only think of one way to deal with this: Tell me where you live, I'll fly from Colorado to your house, find your address book... and keep it for myself. (My address book is ancient and extremely boring. Having your addy book will a huge improvement.) As for the rumor(s) of a possible revival, all we need is Billy West to make an annoucement that he will have to almost immediately withdraw to confirm it.

I looked through Billy's forum. It's one of the few websites that my stupid internet connection isn't hanging on, for some reason. There's nothing there about any possible return. The members of the board actually learned of the rumor from us here at PEEL. Billy hasn't updated in a few weeks. He did make a cryptic mention a few weeks ago on a thread that he's been very busy and if things worked out, he'd soon have too much work and would have to refuse a few jobs. Remember, Billy is on a very short leash that is held by DXC and MG.

In fact, if anything, Billy West's lack of presence should be all the more an indicator that it is returning.

Wait? Twenty-six episodes... that makes... 114 total episodes of Futurama. And this calls for a... 100th episode special!!!

Hollywood Reporter is now running a likewise story, with this quote that I didn't find in the EW story: All key voice cast members are expected to return, along with the series’ core writing team.
Groening and Cohen attributed the show’s return to “some sort of mysterious time loop.”
...
“There remains a deep and passionate fan base for this intelligent and very funny show," said Comedy Central’s senior vp programming David Bernath. First, everyone's coming back is a big plus. I'd like to see what they mean by "time loop"; probably the wormhole taking the ship to before the movies. And it's good that CC is saying this. I'll be interested in seeing if Conan or Keith Olbermann mention this tonight; it's right up Conan's alley, and Keith has an affinity for shows like this, mentioning the Arrested Development movie a month or two back. Yes, I'd say that Entertainment Weekly is a reliable source. And it didn't reference any previous articles but used its own proof. All and all, I'd say this is a time for WHOIASLKVNEOWFHOEIWHVOIEW;HVPIOWEHFEIOVW~!!!! That is all... Also, please note that it does not say a 26-episode season. On Comedy Central, seasons of South Park are usually ~14 episodes and have 7 in the spring and 7 in the fall. This will likely be the case with Futurama. Given how it takes time to reboot-up production, how South Park's seasons work, and that the article says "air beginning in 2010", I'd say first part of Broadcast Season 7 will be in early October 2010 and the second part will be in late March 2011. Yes, that's a whole year away {hears n00bs crying} but remember it took over 2 years between announcement and release of Bender's Big Score, so saying it'll air at latest in Fall 2010 is amazingly quick in comparison.

For having EW and The Hollywood Reporter reporting on it, I'd say it's crossed from "rumors" to "pretty legit".

Suggestion to a mod: could somebody merge the three "z0mg it's back" threads into one? Thanks!
And it brought JBERGES out of the woodworks?! It must be true!

Woooooop woop woop woop woop woop woop! I hope they do something cool to celebrate at Comic Con again this year (like when the cast gave out a mini-comic book and read it in a panel, when the movies were in the works). : D
So now I *must* finish my Leela costume to wear with my man's Zap costume this year, yay!
