Yay for less polls, more slash marks!
(That sounded less strange in my head.)

Speedracer: Yes, those rules apply again for this round.
Bianca: The last poll was not rigged, it was a happenstance. I made it clear that I wasn't going to close it until Sunday night as I felt it was too close to call. At the point I made that decision the race was indeed a three way tie. At the point when you made your remark about Roswell, I was nowhere near my computer to close the poll. The auto-lock feature hadn't worked well for me during Fall Madness, closing a poll a day before or after it was supposed to be, so I wasn't going to trust it again. When I returned, Roswell and Devils Hands were tied. It was almost 8pm EDT, which was the time I was going to close the poll regardless, so I went to #fc and said for whomever to vote break the tie. That person voted for Devils Hands. Whichever episode that was voted against would've gone home, not the one which was not Roswell. And this whole time I've been voting against episodes right with you; I've already made my sentiments made in this game concerning certain episodes. However, these sentiments have not fogged my judgement before, why do you make such an accusation now? I find it quite inflammatory of you to make the claim that I rigged the poll to produce a result I wanted; just because you're online and are such the internet vigilante that you are doesn't mean everyone else is.

Shouldn't there be a V for five votes? The neater, the better.
Not our problem you cannot count to 5.

I decided against using V for five slashes as it looked too similar to \/, which, depending on if somebody is lame and uses the backslash, would be two tallies instead of five. X is more obviously not a single slash tally and also reduces the length. I like the spacing between the first five votes though, so continue with that s'il vous plaît. Ce serait très cool.

No, it doesn't need to be. Although the small is so darn cute.

When I saw the conclusion of the final three poll, I was thrilled to get that b*tch of an episode off. After seeing this poll, I have came to the conclusion that everybody is ganging up on the no-doubt greatest non-Fry and Leela-ship episode of Futurama so then the major competition is out of the way.
The thing that bothers me about "The Devil's Hands are Idle Playthings" is the fact that there were only a handful of good gags (the only one that I can even remember is th Robot Devil's escape) and all the lines for the Fry and Leela ship seemed pretty cheesy and one-dimensional. Besides, the entire "opera" concept was kind of gaudy.

How so? "Into the Wild Green Yonder" was a much more appropriate ending- epic, prophetic, and a decent Fry and Leela ship. "The Devi's Hands are Idle Playthings" was all about music (then again, I don't like music).

Yonder wasn't near as shippy as Devil's Hands. The only shippy part was the final scene, and even that was more ambiguous than Devil's Hands. However, this is one reason why I prefer Yonder to Devil's Hands: not as shippy, more Futuramay.

i_c_weiner: What Futurama is is up to debate. There are very few episodes from season 2 that would have worked in season 1. There are few from 3 that would have worked in 2. What I'm getting at is the show changed focus as it went on. Each season has it's own distinct feel so I don't think it is simple to explain what is Futuramay and what isn't. For the record, ITWGY is quite shippy. The ship itself is just stretched out and not the sole focus of that episode. iceiwynd: Sorry man. The shippy episodes of Futurama are among its highest rated (check it out: http://www.gotfuturama.com/Information/EpisodeGuide/) so it really isn't that surprising that so many of them rank high on these lists. I can understand you not liking it but your gonna have to accept that they will always pull in the high numbers since there is a rabid fanbase for that part of the show. If it helps, ITWGY will probably result in less shippy episodes (that is episodes devoted to the ship) if the show returns. Edit: when the show returns.

Naw, I totally get that the ship is really popular around here, and I agree that a lot of the shippiest episodes are among the series' best - I have no problem with any of these episodes being in the top five, really, 'cause I agree that they're all fantastic episodes. I just feel that in the long run, outside of the individual episodes, Fry/Leela has been poorly handled (like all of the complaints about it being completely ignored in BWABB following the events of BBS - the actual show did that all of the time), making Leela come across as a bitch, and Fry (more of) a pathetic loser. And while the episodes themselves were good and worked nicely as standalones, putting it all together sullies the whole thing for me, which leads to a greater dislike that I have for them than I otherwise would have.
I'm just a bigger fan of deeper character stuff (Fry's past episodes are my favourites since he's my favourite character and it's a great insight into him, particularly as he can be argued as the most relatable character in the sense that he's from our time, and the concept of being displaced so much in time is a fascinating concept in and of itself... and with Fry basically having the mentality of a child, it just becomes more... I'm not sure what the right word is here. Awesome?) than trying to stuff Fry and Leela together as a couple. And part of that probably comes from the fact that I hardly ship any couple in any of my other fandoms, either, canon or not. I'm just generally not big on romance in general.

If anything, "The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings", I prefer the subplot where Bender tries to figure out what irony is.
