My favorite one liner in this episode is for sure: Leela:"Why would you need all this junk for the afterlife?"line Bender:"Afterlife? If I knew I had to go through a whole 'nother life I'd kill myself right now!" :laff:

Meh. I liked the first act, but as soon as they got to the egypt-like planet the ep went pretty downhill. It was okay, but the episode itself is very forgettable. Although I do really like the ending of this one.

Still better than Neutopia.

There were some pretty hilarious jokes, and the funeral scene had me laughing 5 minutes straight. However, I hated the way Bender acted in this episode and he acted like a pathetic, whiny asshole. Seriously. I felt like bashing his face in the whole time, and if it weren't for the jokes, I probably would've given the episode a 4/10. I also found it odd that Leela and Fry didn't even attempt to make a run for it when that guy randomly announced that they were slaves. Either way, I guess this episode was pretty funny.

I once mentioned something similar:
They basically have an armed spaceship and lots of weapons at their disposal. Equipment with which anyone of the trio could single handedly conquer a whole planet similar to ancient Earth.

Of course parodies need to stretch reality by quite some margin for humor's sake. Yet, as a tabletop wargamer, I am prejudiced and usually demand combat/battles to follow some rules. "Galaxy Quest" was a good example..it was goofy, it was hilarious...yet, the fighting scenes had structure, and did not randomly follow the plot demand. Up to the great showdown: Sarris : You fool! You fail to realize that with your armor gone my ship will tear through yours like tissue paper! Jason Nesmith : And what you fail to realize is my ship is dragging mines :D :D :D

Futurama often lacks in the department of well-developed kick-ass action scenes.
(Which is also a reason for my dislike regarding Leela: A female combatant in a universe with the strict rule "A man may NEVER successfull beat a woman" takes away quite too much of the tension and interest of a fight. Either write her e.g. like Deunan from Appelseed or like early Lady Death, or keep her away from the front).

Screen time...anyway, they only had a few seconds to run, the door to the spaceship was closed (I think), and Leela was the only one fit enough to run.

My rating is 6.5/10.

Good episode, but nowhere on my favorites list. I didn't notice Bender's behavior being any worse than normal. A forgettable episode, though not one I regret (re)watching. I wish that Bender would have at least promoted Fry and Leela to "executive slaves" or something instead of just forgetting them. But he wasn't too much of an asshole and I still enjoyed it.
