So it wasn't even a phone conversation? Wow thats cool. did you get his autograph? :ccol:
Yes we talked to him in person. We met him at a Supercon, asked if he would sit in on our podcast for a second and he stayed a whole 45 mins. He talked about music, and his inspiration for voices.....he told us Popeye is the hardest voice for him to do. He was even cool enough after the podcast to do an intro for our show in the Professors voice! I would tend to listen to billy. He was the one who stated that there would be 4 DVDs released, then had to retract it mere hours later when DXC called Billy at home and ripped a new asshole in him for leaking the news. Billy then took a lot of heat from members of this site before the news of the DVDs was released by FOX.
Nobody on this site ever appologized to Billy about some of the unkind things said about him. That's one of many reasons he refuses to lurk on any Futurama sites.
For him to make a comment about "They're talking..." would lead me to believe he has permission to float trial ballons.
He did mention it several times not only in our podcast that they were in talks with fox for a sixth season because of the dvd sales.....I have a video of that interview as soon as i edit it I will post for you guys. Once again you can listen to him just go to: http://blog.hippojuice.com/ It should be the podcast at the top if you want to get straight to when billy sits with us fast froward to about 42 mins or so. Be forewarned we tend to curse in it but then again so did he.

Ralph what kind of things were they? Did people make fun of his voice?
After Billy stated that there were going to be 4 feature-length DVDs, then within 6 hours had to retract his statement, several people made comments that Billy West was a unreliable source. A few months later, FOX/Groening announced that there would be 4 direct-to-DVD feature length movies made. Everybody was happy except they never said, "Billy West said this a few months ago. We should be thrilled that he has a website and loves his fans enough to stay in contact with them." I said it. I sent him a PM thanking him for staying in contact with his fans and for taking the slings and arrows for telling us about the DVDs. Futurama wouldn't be able to continue without him but he can be fined if his contract states that he can't speak about the series. For him to say what he did in the podcast, I would say the chances are pretty good that the PE crew may survive. This is for any writers that lurk here (I know some do!) - Please oh please, if the series contines, stop using that damned RESET button!

Funny you should mention that Ralph, Off mic billy was talking to us telling us how he is sick of the "Internet tough guys." and "They would never say that stuff in person to him." Like I said this was before the podcast but I found it interesting.
Ah, the internet is a wonderful place. Anybody can be anything. A fat, middle-aged balding man can hang out in a teen chat room and pretend to be a 16 year old and make arrangements to meet other 16 year olds. A chain-smoking, denture-wearing, obese woman with a chronic yeast infection can portray herself as a 25 year old supermodel who teaches aroebics three days a week. It can be a place where people hide behind the anonyminity of computer screen and keyboard and do things to destroy an innocent person's reputation, then when they get called-out on it, hide behind the excuse, "But it's just the internet!" Believe me, I agree with Billy West about that comment. BTW, there's nothing I will place in a forum or in an e-mail that I wouldn't say to anybody's face.

We just posted a youtube video with Billy saying to a rather large audience that Fox is in talks of a 6th season. It's a short 5 min video, not like the hour long offensive podcast everyone endured for the news. Thanks again and enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vi920ztPFIQDon't worry, Billy won't get in trouble for what he said on our podcast and AnimeSupercon. We had fox executives sign and fax us full disclosure contracts before we started recording... Those type of contracts exist right?

Aww, poor Billy West.... It's a shame that people were very rude to him on the Futurama sites back when the news of the 4 movies was released. Honestly, I don't understand why people wouldn't believe him about that. Voice actors are very reliable sources of information, because they actually work on the show. Anyway, Billy West sounds like an awesome guy! I'd love to meet him at an anime convention sometime! I like the fact that he actually communicates with the fans. My favorite VA doesn't go online much, if any, because she isn't good with computers. XD
