Personally, after 4 seasons and 4 movies (and 10 years) I'm tired of Fry trying to win over Leela and would happily watch them in a dating relationship. I always loved Homer and Marge's high school era episodes on the Simpsons, and a dynamic similar to that would work really well in Futurama.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that, whilst it's provided us with some really touching moments the Fry trying to win Leela's affections story was on the verge of running out of steam and they did the right thing bringing that aspect to a close in ITWGY. Everything has a life span, even show dynamics. Plus having them together would be hilarious. Just think about it, there's so much potential for laughs and new storylines and I certainly don't think it'd ruin the show like a number of people do. People forget that the some quite big things have changed during the shows run, Kif and Amy? Leela finding her parents? Fair enough Kif and Amy wasn't that huge a change as they're only really supporting characters but there's been a hell of a lot of episodes that have been based on Leela not knowing where she's from and feeling like an outcast. That all changed when she found her parents and that side of the story was lost but did it ruin the show? No. It simply added a new dynamic and gave them more potential for storylines. It's along the same lines as what it'd be like if the show came back and Fry and Leela were dating. Plus I don't really think that they'd make that big a deal of them two being together for the most part and it would probably only be alluded to or mentioned in passing in most episodes. It would be central to a few episodes but that's not a bad thing as long as they don't over do it.

I gave it a 6, that is a good score in my eyes. I have the original TV series on such a high pedestal so y'know...

Was watching it again last night on DVD and I paused for a few minutes on Fry's and Leela's last scene because it was adorable.
Question: Can anybody do the foot salute?

Absolutely incredible. That's all I can say. This movie easily stands up to any of Futurama episodes from it's prime. Great story, great characters, and the most fitting ending to the saga since "Don't stop playing Fry, I want to see how it ends..."
I was mildly disappointed with Bender's Game and I was hoping that the final movie would rebound from mediocrity which plagued the third movie and portions of the first two. And I couldn't be more happier than what Groening and Cohen put out with this.
Viva la Futurama!

That part gave me shivers :P I dunno what it was about it, but its somehow made the film for me.. i'm getting shivers just writing about it now :P also when leela comes back for the muck leech and fry says he misses her, and she wells up when he says "you're you, thats all i need to know" .. "Goodbye sweet goofbag" ... almost made me cry :P and i'm a bloke!! :O

Having noticed the poll, I gave the movie a ten. After I've watched it again (and now that I've stopped buzzing ), I'm going to try and expand my three-word review. I did want to say one thing right now, though. (Not all of it now, though.) Something I found very surprising was that they got Seth Macfarlane - not that he did a bad job, he didn't. Maybe it's just me, but I always thought of his show(s) and Futurama as rivals - then again, I can see how, apart from him being a fan or not, he might have a certain sympathy for Futurama's situation, seeing as he's been there himself.

I watched it a second time and I like it even more. It's definately my second favourite movie behind BBS, and the most consistently good of the 4 (BBS had a rough start, I didn't really like most of the parts with Colleen in BWABB, and the first half of BG was much better than the second IMO). The plot was really good and easier to understand the second time, and the ending was beautiful (in a cliffhangery Futurama-is-gone-again-oh-no-im-gonna-miss-it-so-much-i-hope-it-comes-back-even-still-that-probably-wont-be-for-a-while- - - way). edit: I was wondering what Seth Macfarlene did (I kinda hate Family Guy these days) and he did the Vegas song at the start?! I was just thinking about how great that song was! Does this mean I have to respect him? Yeahh he's alright.

Loved this film.
Mainly I loved the ending as it wraps up all the hanging storylines and relationships. Plus, if it continues they still have a story to tell, what happened to the crew. And if this is the end, at least the fans get to decide what happens next.
Side note: Hermes and the Professor are terrible fathers. Where are Dwight, Cubert and Igner at the end?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dwight and Cubert helping the crew find their way back to Earth if/when Season 6 rolls around. (I suppose they could also have stowed away on the ship, but that seems less likely to me). The writers don't overlook things like this, imo, and they certainly wouldn't have left them out just for the sake of the "Cover the children's ears!" joke. If the show doesn't come back and you want to imagine that the crew is gone, well, Dwight and Cubert are old enough to take care of themselves. They did run a profitable paper delivery business for a while and help fight the nudist scammers, after all.

I added a poll to the thread for those who have seen the movie. Figured it'd be best in this thread.
Edit: You can change your votes by removing your vote first.
It gets a nine from me. Igner is an adult, a child like adult in terms of mental facilities, they had to leave the children out because of the whole sexual reproduction of the asteroid and the violet dwarf star, or else it would defeat what morbo said about there not being any children there to need their eyes covered, listen to the commentary and they mention that.
Perhaps that's one they're saving? There are no children left, thus humanity is an endangered species after all.
