They finally gave her the cool extra feature screen time she deserved...and it was funny. I think they were making fun of how Disney does their "how we make our movie" film.

Billy West, Ken Keeler and many others were just rumors... started by Lauren Tom.

Also, no, it closed when the PE ship went through.

I love how you assume the wormhole actually closed off just as they added the special effect for the intro to the credits, in reality the other worm hole that they went through did not close once they went through it, nor did it close around the test fired golf ball, but oh well

My long-standing tradition has been to be completely high when I watch new futurama episodes or (in the current situation) movies. This is very entertaining to me, more so than anything else I do while high, but i can only do it when these new movies come out.  Then I rewatch it the next day and see what I missed (usually around 80% of the movie) This movie was VERY hard to watch the first time. I was very confused, not like beast with a billion backs, that was basically a euphoric experience for me. (I'll never understand why I enjoyed it so much more than anyone I know) Anyways, when Leela kept getting bit by the worm and then stomped on it and it camne back to life I laughed for a good 5 minutes. On second viewing today, I think that it's one of the best futurama movies, and I'm sure some segments are going to be my favorite "episodes". Also, I liked that 9 became a legit character. Made me happy.

Speaking of wormholes, did anyone else recognize the sound that the King-Kong hole wormhole made when the ship went through it as the sound the Mass Relays make when they fling ships around in Mass Effect?  If it's not the same sound, its darn close.

I liked it. It's a good ending, but however the final is still open, just like "Devil's hands are idle playthings". Speaking of wormholes, can't it throw them into the past? or even other dimention? or even (Oh, my God, I'm telling this!) into Simpson's Universe?!

Hey guys and gals.

I'm new here, I stumbled across this site when  I was looking for info on any possible Futurama productions.

first off let me say: Into the Wild Green Yonder has to be, BY FAR, the best of the movies. I laughed my ass off all the way through and the ending was absoloutely fantastic. the way it ended gives me a sneaking suspicion that its not over yet, i mean what a cliff hanger!! there is no limit to where they can go from here..

And Fry and Leela finally got it together!!!! I say rock on Fry, its one thing i've wanted to see every since I started watching this awesome program.

So I've got a question.

Is there any solid evidence anywhere that suggests they're going to continue producing Futurama? Personally I'd like to see another film follow on from ITWGY, as it had such an awesome ending.

I could chat all day long about Futurama :D DON'T LET IT DIE!!!

This is something that could easily be retconned if necessary.

The easiest way to work it out is either (1) make a spoof of Voyager for the first episode back or (2) have the wormhole empty above the PE Building. The second is more likely.

Additionally, I rewatched Bender's Big Score last night and the sound of Bender's e-mail is Xbox 360's menus.

There's a thread a few down from this one on this section of the forum's first page that has a link to a Billy West interview which says that Fox is considering bringing it back for at least another season. There has been no real confirmation from the higher-ups, such as Matt, DXC, or FOX, yet on whether this is true or not, but the likelihood increases with every DVD sold.

Excellent, thats all great news. You all seem like a bunch of Futurama loving Sci Fi geeks!! right up my street!

So moving on from my last post.. What would u prefer? A brand new TV series starting from scratch? Or a new series starting from the end of ITWGY? Or how about a 5th movie following on from the end of ITWGY??

Personally I'd love to see the latter of those options. I love the TV series and have them all on DVD, watch at least 1 disc a week :D

But I think the production of movies, and the way they can do absoloutely anything is a far better choice. The cinematics were awesome in ITWGY and I can't wait to get it on Blu ray for the HD!!!

Also.. Fry and Leela? :D How can they just end it there, after 9 years of them two almost getting it on, and when they finally do, its finished? I cried, i really did.

I wish i was Fry, it'd be so cool.

Just finished watching Into The Wild Green Yonder.  It's easily the best of the four movies but it still falls short of the tv show.  But I definitely give it a thumbs up.  However, there's one scene that bothered me.  It's when Leela stands on Frida Waterfall's murdered corpse in the phone booth.  ( I know that's a harsh way of putting it but that is exactly what is taking place.)  The scene was surprisingly mean-spirited and kind of creepy.  I know the writers where driving home the point that Frida was an annoying ecofeminsit and she kind of deserved such a humiliation.  But come on.  When Leela steps on her, you hear Frida's bones crunch. Then Leela makes her call to Fry all the while standing on Frida's murdered body.  Futurama is without a doubt one of the best shows of all time.  The remarkable sweetness of this "edgy" show hooked from the start.  Fry's love for Leela has had moments that have brought tears to me.  This is the woman he moved the stars for.  And in this scene she's standing on the murdered corpse of a woman whil talking on the phone.  It just seemed way out of place for Leela or any part of Futurama.  I wonder if anyone else was bothered by it.

Turanga Leela is one of greatest characters in all of story telling (yeah, I got it bad for her) I just wish this scene never took place.  Look, being stood on by Leela is probably a fantasy of Zapp's (and mine!).  Having her stand on dead Frida, though,  was off-putting.  By the way, at one point she looks down at Frida after a strange sound followed by a thud is heard - what the heck is that all about?  (No, not the bone crunching but something else happens to Frida while Leela is standing on her.)

Sorry for the LONG post, but I just had to get this off my chest.  Promise posts in the FUTURAMA will be much shorter.  Again, other than this one scene I thought this movie was good.  I hope FUTURAMA returns to tv and recaptures it's greatness.  I did like that they had Fry and Leela exchange "I love you"  but the moment seemed to be just thrown in there to give some closure to their relationship in case this is the last we see of them.  Their love deserves much more than that, but I digress...

I absoloutely, 100% agree.

After all the crap Fry has taken from Leela over the years, and to just have an exchange of "I love you's" (which made me cry lol - srsly) is a bit weak if u ask me.

but i suppose they're keeping it open for something in the future? Lets hope so.

I've already watched ITWGY 3 times, in 2 days. And I think i'm gunna have to watch it again, i just can't get enough.

imo - its the best episode of Futurama I've EVER seen. and I really really REALLY hope they continue it from there. The possibilities are endless!! They went in a wormhole that could send them billions of lightyears away from New New York. Just think of what can happen!! Mind boggling.

I actually thought that they got the Fry/Leela end scene spot on. It may have seemed slightly abrupt but when you take the whole series into account it's been building up to that moment throughout.

There wasn't any need to over do it, short and sweet did the job perfectly.

The fact that all the Waterfalls die in spectacularly undignified ways is a running gag throughout the series.

Who can you see in the crowd at the end when Fry is trying to find somebody's mind he can't read??? This is what I recall:

Flexo
Walt
Larry
Igner
Destructor
Clamps
Joey Mousepad
Fanny
Naked Bartender (from BBS)
Enema Bot
Edna
Ambassador Moivin
Matt Groening's Head
Gunter
Hypnotoad (Although he was pretty big and had different eyes at this part)
Robot Santa
Thog
Kug
Angleyne
Robot Devil
No. 9 Man

There was loads more but I can't remember..... I think I saw some Trisolians too.... Who else could you see????

I dunno why, but the last scene with Fry and Leela really really gets to me. I can't stop watching it. Somehow, I wish I was Fry :(

I'll try and get a list up of who I saw, may take a while as there were quite a few characters :P Like probably ALL of the featured characters throughout Futurama's history.

Yeah, thanks for the link.  I had never heard that Amy was originally intended to be a lesbian mechanic (thank you for stopping that, Lauren Tom!).  Also interesting that DXC thinks he knows how to continue, even when Groening admits he thinks "they've painted themselves into a corner."

There's actually two things I wanna talk about the audience scene.
I have a picture of all of them but I noticed whilst Hutch got bitten by the Dark One, he is also screaming in the audience. It'll be noticeable on big TV screens, I'd think.

Also, I'm getting my DVD about 4 hours from this post. Can't wait.

I find MG's comment a little bit surprising.  Two paragraphs earlier he claims that they still have ideas that were first conceived in 1999, and of course the movies themselves have introduced all sorts of additional lines.

He could, of course, be referring specifically to the way the final scene wrapped things up at the end of ITWGY.  However, according to the movie commentary MG really insisted that it be done that way; the original script was quite a bit less conclusive.  I can't imagine MG would have done that if he didn't see a way forward from there.

Just watched the movie and it was great. Loved it. It's up there with Bender's Big Score and on par with the TV shows. Hopefully, this will relaunch the series, but if not, the ending of the movie was a nice way for the characters to go out.

When he says "we can do what we want" afterwards it could be interpreted that they might just retcon the final scene should the show come back, which would be a great shame as it was so well done. Not to mention that it would really anger the majority of the fanbase to see the story messed with in such a fashion.

I don't think they would though mainly because, as you say, in the commentary it's revealed that it was Groening himself that was so insistent that tied up that aspect of the story. They could have easily given us another ambiguous ending but given that they gave us such a conclusive one he must have some ideas with how the show could be continued with a new dynamic otherwise he wouldn't have ended ITWGY that way.

Conclusive, whilst the right word in a sense, is liable to giving the wrong impression.

When I say it was conclusive I don't mean that should the show come back they're not going to do anymore episodes on that matter as they most certainly will. It'll be developed as it always has been.

It did seem to give a clear indication of where they're going to go with that story aspect though and it certainly can't just be ignored and things go back to how it was before.

Of course none of us really know what the writers have in store for any new episodes that might surface but it sounds like MG really pushed for it to end that way.

I think they should do one more movie about what happens when they go through the worm hole and how they get back to Earth, and then bring back a Series.
