Is it just me or does Fry (in the non-flashback scenes) come across a bit whiney, in an unsympathetic way, in this episode?

I love this episode. The ending is so sweet. I love how they choose who name's Fry. "You pick. I picked dinner last night." I love the beginning of this episode.. not sure why. You gotta love how committed to sports Fry's mom is.... listening to sports while giving birth remembering dates by what happens in certain games. This ep is very well written and the end always gets me.

They are whiny. hobbitboy what do you mean by unsympathetic way?

This one has all the things that make Futurama great wrapped into one episode. Plus I've always loved Fry's dad.

Mr. Fry: "Son, your name is Yancy, just like me and my grandfather and so on. All the way back to minuteman Yancy Fry, who blasted commies in the American Revolution."

This ep is very well written and the end always gets me.

I'm not afraid to admit that I agree with that one.

Yeah BBS did that to me too. They totally ruined it but I can just deny the existance of BBS in the Futurama universe, or something. Luck of the Fryrish is one of my favorite episodes I don't want it ruined by that movie.

It's certainly high up on my list. The penguins are great:

"Full of fish?"

"Not entirely."

"Then let's fish!"

Making Bender temporary captain is a great story device which let's us see how egotistical he can get. And I like Leela's moral dilemma about killing penguins to save them and that she feels she has to kill whole families to avoid leaving orphans. Aw.

Bloody page is annoying me.

It always bothered me that when Bender claps it has that humanclapping fleshhand sound, instead of metal.

And to a lesser extent, when spaceships brake, they make a rubber tires on road skidding sound.

I particularly love how Bender feels the need to put on a fake voice when he's pretending to be Flexo on the phone.

Not a big fan of desserts in general. I prefer something a little more savory.

And remember people: Flashing your scab cash 3 times in a night club will get you in trouble with the Robot Mafia.

Edit: Complaining in the test thread about that post was a good idea.

I cant let tomorrow arrive without mentioning the Nibblonians. So I mentioned them.

I, personally, don't like the expansion of the Nibblonian story in BG; they just took away their mystery and sense of power by letting Mom imprison them so easily.

On a slightly related note:
one of my all-time favorites (Luck of the Fryrish).  Bender's Big Score took alot of the tear-jerkiness out of it for me, though.  Stupid retcon...

I can see that being a problem with BBS, but since it was a time travel movie, they had to go back and "change" a few things. The way I see it, it all happened anyway and somehow the many altered timelines have merged (that's the essence of paradox correcting).

I have no idea why this one is disliked. For a start it has lots of Calculon (who I always thought was a very popular character).

"I'm programmed to be very busy right now."

And if there's a made up movie I desperately want to see it has to be "Bravehead".

Zoidberg-centric episodes tend to be unpopular it seems, and since the writers have deliberate written the Decapodians in a stereotypically Jewish style you could even argue that to dislike those episodes is anti-semitic. It's a weak argument but you could try it.

Anyway, it is actually one of my favourites. I love uncle Zoid and was very pleased to see him make a cameo in BWABB.

Yay, yeah, I've been saying that all along.
There are definitely worse episodes.

Agree with that also.  And TDTESS was highly excellent.

One of those ones that I always wished would have gone on longer.

Not the best episode but it's not one of the worst. After watching it again a couple of weeks ago it was certainly funnier than I'd remembered.

"Good Morning, Mr Vice President!"

That always cracks me up.
