All I'm planning on bringing are my DVD set, a camera, some pens, and other random stuff. Oh, and a few CD's with anime, like I said.

I wish I could get e-mail from the voices and artists of the show. Oh well, at least we know we're having some sort of an impact.

ok, was getting an error message before in German and couldn't post.
ANYWAY... My 2 friends who were going to come along with me both flaked so I have an extra ticket for tonight if anyone needs it. I'm about to leave in about 30 minutes or so to get on the road (it's about a 6 hour drive to LA from the bay area stopping for gas, food, etc.) and want to make it early for the event, trying to avoid LA traffic and all that.
So... I'll be wearing a Cheapass games shirt. If there's some semblance of a line there, if anyone from the board wants to meet up to chat/hang out/kill time, that's cool with me. I hope they have parking there. ^_^

Also, I callked Rough Draft on the phone, and they said to go to CGEF and sign the petition. So I'm pretty sure they all know about it. AND, marc has gotten many many emails from voices and artists from the show.
Voices from the show? really?

Kind of surprised nobody has posted on this yet. Anyways, below is what I posted over at the Futurama Foundation Message Board regarding my take on the events of last night. I hurriedly wrote everything down this morning before I went to work so I haven't really touched upon alot of things that went on. Once I get my thoughts together a little better I hope to have something up on my site. Anyways, here goes nothing: Well, the time has come and gone. Last night was the Paley Festival with Futurama and it was a really good time. I will do my best to summarize it all up here. They showed two episodes tonight - Hell is Other Robots and Amazon Women in the Mood. The first half of the show was left for introductions and some questions fromt he moderator. The second half was questions from the audience. Each voice actor, writer, director, etc explained who they were and what they did. It was fun to hear the voice actors talk about the characters they do and how they evolved. For those interested Billy West mentioned that the voice of Zapp actually came from an amalgamation of different radio DJ's that he had worked with over the years. Those guys who spin the top 40's hits and who (as he puts it) are so in love with the sound of their own voices. That was pretty interesting. As was hearing Maurice LaMarch talk a little bit about his characters as well as talking about the Brain (one of my favorite shows - Pinky and the Brain). In perfect Brain voice he said something like working on Futurama was just part of his larger scheme to take over the world! The night was pretty dominated by John DiMaggio and Billy West. DiMaggio is a pretty hyper guy and gives me the sense that he is really enjoying what he is doing. Although, judging by the good spirits on the panel I would guess everybody is having a good time. On the topic of the future of Futurama Matt Groening tried to make it clear that it is a hiatus and that they are in talks with Fox. The drawback as he saw it, and as pointed out by many other individuals online, is that by the time Fox may come around and order more episodes most of the writing and animation staff will have been long gone and off working on other projects. He kind of stressed that it is on hiatus and not cancelled. David X. Cohen did interject and said to keep writing those letters to Fox. Let's see, the only no show for the night was Katey Sagal. Pretty bummed about that but you can't have everything. Afterwards, many of the panel stayed to sign autographs and talk with the fans. I got a chance to meet Billy West, Phil Lammar and Maurice LaMarche. Maurice LaMarche was exceptionally exciting as like I said before my girlfriend and I are both fans of Pinky and the Brain - poink. Anyways, it was a fun evening that lasted about 2 1/2 hours. It was great to see Futurama projected on a large theater style screen with a great sound system. It made the episodes twice as good. I will try to post more as well as get some more notes up here and on my website but weeks end. I didn't get to take pictures for a couple of reasons. Those being there was no photography allowed and the digital camera I was using didn't have a memory stick in it. Boo! RM
