I've now watched BBS several times and it seriously grows on you, so i guess the same could be said of BWABB if you didn't like it all that much the first time. Also don't watch it in non widescreen which i did once, it made the animation look awful. I now apologise to the animators, they did an amazing job on both.

I seem to be stuck in a rather interesting situation. I pre-ordered BWABB in February and later found out that I;m leaving for Germany on the 23rd. I got an email today saying it's been shipped (i did overnight). Now it's a race against time to see if they'll actually deliver it on a weekend. I must have it for the 8.5 hour flight!

UPS Air from some distribution center in Pittsburt to me in Allentown. Could easily get here before I leave Monday morning just not sure whether "over night shipping" includes weekends. Which it better!

Hey all. It's funny, I've already seen BWBB, forgotten what happened, and watched it again. I hope you all like it. I'll see you guys again later this year, when I get the next movie a month before it's released.

Awww, I'm sorry to hear you didn't care for it, Krytes.
Are you going to give us details of why you didn't like it? I kinda figured that the religious members of the board would react like Kelly - the anti-religious themes were too much for her.
Anyway, I'll state it again, Bender's Game looks like it's going to rock!

After watching it a second time, I take back my saying I didn't like it. I like it, but it's really weird and I needed the second view to really "get" it.
Alas, I much prefer BBS, that movie was effing awesome... but I can respect BwaBB.
Some of the side-stories with Fry's girlfriend and the "leaguey-weegys" are kind of lame, but there was enough humour for me to enjoy it. In fact, I'd say it had more humour than BBS, but I cared much more for Big Score's less unconventional story.
My biggest fear for both of the movies is the humour going the way of the Simpsons. And while I'd say it's fairly strong compared to new Simpsons, it's a lot more hit and miss than it used to be... and the misses can make me sigh sometimes. However, BBS proved that the storytelling and the emotional impact can be as strong as ever, and BwaBB proved... that David Cross will totally have sex with every living creature in the universe? I don't know what it proved... all I can say is that it was very unconventional, but the humour was a bit stronger, and there was some emotional impact, and I liked it, but not as much as the average episode due to the side-stories, the weirdness, and, I guess, the lack of Fry being Fry. He was out of character the entire movie IMO.
Also, I'm sticking to my not watching previews or trailers until I've seen the movie... I watch them after watching the movie, and I'm like wow... that would've spoiled the entire movie for me.

Not....resisting....well. And the Awkward Meter goes up another notch! Also, I loved the airtime that Zapp and Calculon got on this one.

Hi, all. (My first posting - yes, I'm a nooob, but a long-time fan.)
I waited with much-bated breath for BBS, delighted when I saw it, and expected the same from BWABB. <sigh>
After having to wait until today to get it (long story), I rushed home to watch it. And, well, it was OK, but.......
......it was average. While I am DELIGHTED NO END to have fresh material, and was not loathe to have paid an exorbitant $24.99 for my copy, it just didn't live up to my expectations. Here are a few BADS and a few GOODS:
BADS 1) Didn't Fry seem a little, well, FLAT, in regards to his behavior and such? Ditto Leela. 2) The characterization of "Yivo"(sp?) was alarmingly primary - as in virtually no character development at all. Monster tentacles people, takes over world, reveals terrible truth, convinces everyone it's OK, etc. You really don't CARE what he does by the end. 3) This installment didn't seem to have as many nerdy gags as the original series. And that is what I look for as a Futurama trademark. 4) The death of Kiff! (Although the funeral on Kiff's homeworld was great with the participation of the Grand Midwife!) 5) Somewhat lame ending.
GOODS 1) The Deathball game. 2) The team of Farnesworth and Wernstrom. 3) Amy & Kiff's wedding 4) Any scene with Zapp - his characterization suffered not one whit! 5) The simply killer DVD package artwork!
JUST NEUTRALLY WEIRD 1) Fry's new girlfriend's polyandrous relationship(s). 2) The talking tentacles. 3) Fry as the "Pope"(?!?) 4) Heavy-handed treatment of the "Heaven" concept (a little too preachy).

To be honest im okay with the movies being a bit off from the shows greatness, their a lot harder to keep the same feel when its 4x as long as an episode, they have to work around the 4 episode split without affecting the continuity, and all in all its meant to be an experiment in popularity to show the fanbase is large enough to bring the show back. Old and hardcore fans might nitpick, but should be understanding, if it snags new fans along the way its a bonus!
I am perfectly happy as long as the movies bring the laughs and the bucks, because ultimately thats what counts. They need to make a big bang with each movie to prove they deserve their second chance, they will lose some of what made Futurama great in the process, but im okay with it as long as it comes back for the returning seasons :P
I did feel some of the characterizations were lacking in BWABB, but I am glad amy / kif had their chance to be center stage. I was actually pretty impressed with Benders actions too, its nice to see how much he cares about Fry and Leela in his own... special... way. I got the impression they wanted to tone down the individual relationship searching after BBS.

Total character resetting time (although Amy/Kif seem to have some rocky times ahead...). Not really, as far as they're concerned, I believe. Generally, neither Futurama nor (gasp) the Simpsons (the first ten seasons anyway) really pay attention to character development within the same season. They just don't. In fact, the character development can be rather selective from episode to episode and season to season. This seems to carry over to the movies. I can't necessarily explain WHY that is (I'm not them), but while they both generally have excellent continuity (well, Simpsons used to once) compared to some other comedies don't expect it to show up right afterwards. Heh. Edit: Well, there were a few exceptions to this "rule", but not very often in Futurama. It's nothing new.
