I just think they didn't want anyone leaking the film online beforehand, so they added a slightly irritating "watermark" on the image three time during the film. I've been reviewing DVDs for the past year, and 20th Century Fox is literally the only studio that sends out these generic "screening copies".   :hmpf:

Thank you. I always try to take a swipe at Family Guy every chance I get. It's something of an obsession of mine, considering how loathsome that show is.   :puke:

I watched it. I think I liked this one about the same as the last one. This is a bit funnier.

I think they're trying to stuff too much stuff into the movies for whatever the reason and forgeting other things.

The Simpsons movie did beat them both to a punch, meaning that it's better. Shockingly!

One joke in the movie did seem kinda Family Guy-ish.

If you're not a fan, any such movie could be terrible and forgettable.

As for 'Simpsons', I can take it or leave it;
But I though much of the movies' animation was just STUNNING.
Probably due in large part to Futurama...

Just scored a screener from my cousin!  Don't know why she had one (okay, I do - she works at a PR firm but Futurama is one of the shows she 'doesn't get'), but she thought I would enjoy it more...

And I did.

Now that I've had time to reflect a bit, I'm shocked at the story they went after (by that I mean there's some very profound satire).  Loved most of it; had a few reservations here and there, but overall, I think we will all be satisfied.

To put it another way, at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, the carousel still has the brass ring you can reach for and try to throw into the clown's mouth for a free ride.  BBS tried to reach for the brass ring and missed.  BWaBB got the brass ring, chucked it at the clowns mouth, and just rimmed out.

In absence of an official review thread, I give it a B+.

I don't feel guilty about having seen Beast two weeks early - I've personally helped FM/TLZ by buying copies for my non-American friends via Amazon.com.  Archonix, El-Man and Leandro (of FM/TLZ) are all getting legit copies of Beast as presents from me.  Not to mention the copies that Kelly and I are getting, along with the copy that I'm buying one of my co-workers as a birthday present.

So that's 5 copies that I've paid for alone.  I would have gotten a sixth one for my Anethesist friend but she's paid her time and got her Honorable Discharge from serving in Iraq.  (She's now working the night shift with me - just in a different department).

I will say this - if anybody has a friend or family member in Iraq or Afganistan, send them a copy.  The copy of BBS that I sent to April (the Anethesist) arrived on Christmas day and was watched by the entire Medical compound and greatly enjoyed.  It was a small piece of home sent to people stationed far from home.  I'm proud to state that Groening and company, along with me, made a bunch of American Medical personel and soldiers Christmas special.

And yes, Beast is greatly superior to BBS in every way!

I thought it was enjoyable but just a little underwhelming in comparison to BBS, it doesn't really have a strong emotional story, and it's not like it's an out and out joke fest either.
It feels like there's quite a bit of filler material as well. Or there's plot points that feel forced in so they can get something else to happen.

I've kind of been expecting the 2nd one to be the weakest though, so I'm not dissapointed, and don't get me wrong, I still think it's good

It's just me or Fry seems to don't give a damn about  going out with Leela now ?

And he just leave Bender on Earth like that ?

That's a good movie alright, but Fry is kind of "out of character" if i dare say.

On the bright side, Branigan is just plain great in this movie. (and he scores !!)

Just the way i like him. ^^

Clearly not as good as the first movie, but good.

It's funny but, i don't know, something missing...

Checked out a the first 15 minutes of the illegally viewable but not illegally downloaded online version. I can never watch these movies online before buying, but I just HAD to have a taste. Plus I was really curious of how the opening credits would be handled.

AWESOME opening, I was expecting the old time cartoon clip then the crash and was completely surprised! Even better than the extended BBS titles. The plot gets rolling immediately, lots of subplots giving more characters deserved screen time (I loved BBS, but it really felt like The Bender, Fry and Hermes Show). After the "Bender to crew" portion I stopped, BWABB will be much sweeter in the TV and couch setting. Bring on June 24th!

They only and I mean only way I'll get it ahead of time is if my DVD doesn't get here on the 23rd. I got BBS two days early so I'm hoping for a repeat. The reason the 23rd is so important is that I'm leaving for Germany that day and I will not sit through the 8.5 hour flight without it. Also I don't get back till the 3rd and no way in hell am I waiting that long. I already have the resources to get it thanks to an anonymous friend0 (you know who you are). I'm simply exercising honorable restraint. I just got royally screwed with the date. Or as someone once said, destiny has cheated me.

Internet websites usually aren't that strict with keeping release dates, Especially with relatively minor things like BWaBB. Somebody I know apparently got it shipped today, but we'll see if that's true.  :)

After ranting here a few minutes ago I was compelled to check up on my order and it says it'll be shipped as soon as the stock of DVDs gets there. So barring anymore of the universe trying to screw me it should get here before I leave. WOO!

My biggest problem is the inexcusable use of the reset button.

Basically the only remnant of the BBS plot was the anomaly.

Indeed.

This is starting to get on my nerves for being honest.

I presume it's easier to write stories this way but, well, as it's maybe the last Futurama movies ever a bit of change would have been damn cool.

Well, there is some change.

One. (the stuff about Kiff)

hmm...seems to be getting extremely mixed reviews so far. Some people say it's better than BBS, some say worse. This makes me a bit apprehensive...but as long as it doesn't have another santa musical I think it'll be okay. And you can't go wrong with David Cross.

No Santa musical, don't worry. ^^

Honestly i have some difficulties to understand how  some here can find the second movie better than the first but, well, i respect your opinion of course.

As i said, it's good movie, no question.

Or more exactly it's a good long episode.

BBS was a good "movie", BWAMB lacks this litlle something who makes the difference if you know what i mean.

Just to clear up what might be an ambiguous post by me above - I loved the film.

I just figured that now they're making movies they might have just eased off on the reset button a bit, cause I was hoping for a nice story arc over the four films.

But with 50% of the movies watched I don't see any evidence of that. Which I suppose might be a good thing because the reset button (annoying as it is) is what keeps the compelling running themes going.

By resetting when film no 4 finishes they might be in a position to continue the show indefinitely. Fingers crossed.

Beast is holding the #24 place on amazon.  There are two reviews of it, both diametically opposed.  One thinks it's great, the other review - well, it's brutal.

If anybody remembers about my complete and undying hatred or BBS and the hatchet job I did to it, be prepared, this guy makes me look like a very happy fan.  He loved BBS and hates Beast.

I think I'm seeing something of a pattern - those who liked BBS seem to dislike Beast and vice versa.

I'm certainly not a shipper, but this did annoy me, Fry & Leela just don't appear to be the same people who were in BBS. This isn't such a problem in the series, where most plots are all seperate from each other, but with movies following on from each other, you expect a bit more consistency.

But didn't BBS end with the idea that for Fry and Leela to truly come together, Fry had a bit of growing up to do? Maybe as much as Leela likes him, she still doesn't feel that she has the Fry that she saw in Lars. Perhaps in The Wild Green Yonder, Fry takes charge and finally wins over Leela.
