No, I actually feel that we'll get another season of eps out of the show.
DXC and Groening are shooting for a Theatrical release but I don't think the support is there.

My hunch is this,
Feb is a tenantive release date, and April is far enough away that they could do a last minute edit to ITWGY, pending the future of the series after the DVD movies.
Possibly but I doubt that would happen. DXC has always said that ITWGY will serve as a good conclusion to the show yet at the same time leaving it open for more episodes. It'll probably end up being a more conclusive ending than the Devils Hands regarding the Fry/Leela story arc but I think that's mainly down to the writers themselves realising that there's not really much more they can squeeze out of the 'Fry chasing after Leela' angle. The events in BBS narrowed down their options even further with the whole "Lars (and by extension Fry) is the only man I'll ever love" line. There really isn't that much left for them to do. So no, I can't see ITWGY being edited further depending on whether the series comes back. If my suspicions about what happens in ITWGY are correct then the writers will probably just explore new avenues should the series come back. And I trust them to do a good job should that be the case.

just noticed this interview with MG on peel's welcome page in the autogen'd google-based futurama news items. The critical bit is this: iF: What’s the last FUTURAMA movie INTO THE WILD GREEN YONDER going to be about?
GROENING: The last one is about the end of the universe. For the last scene we made an ending that will be very satisfying.
iF: Are you saying this will be the end of FUTURAMA?
GROENING: We don’t know. We did that, so if that’s the last thing people see, they will be satisfied.
I've been wondering since the release of BwaBB when Comedy Central would get off their ass and exercise their option for a new batch of episodes, and this seems to imply that they may not intend to do so. If this is true, I am incredibly confused. From what I had heard, I thought the DVD sales were exceeding expectations; if so, then the only basis I can think of for CC to pass on their option is that the ratings of Futurama, particularly the movies broken into episodes, were not as strong as they had hoped. If this is the case, then it seems like an idiotic decision to me; the original episodes were milked on Adult Swim for years, including frequent marathons during the final year of AS' syndication of the show - basically an attempt to suck as much remaining value out of the show as possible before it went to CC. And the movies, two things come into play: first, the hard-core already bought (or at least watched) the DVDs before it aired on TV. Second, the insistance on doing it as both movies and episodes creates all kinds of complications for the producers. Even done with the greatest care and skill, at the very least it introduces pacing issues which will inevitably weaken it in one or both forms. This is why so many fans (including myself) had mixed reactions to the announcement of the 4 movies plan in the first place. If this bears out and after the launch of Bender's Game they is still no word on CC signing for new episodes (or worse, official word that they are passing), we may need to start a new online petition.

At this point I only want it to come back if it can still match the quality of the original series. I hate going slightly offtopic, but I know there's alot of people saying the Futurama Fantasy DVD film, Bender's Game won't work. But doesn't the Anthology of Interest episodes count as fantasy?
No, of course not. Not the kind of fantasy Bender's Game allegedly is. The AOIs didn't feature dragons, centaurs and D&D stuffs. Anyway, as I've said, I am not a fan of fantasy and I'm fairly trepidatious regarding where this movie is going to go. I'm stymied for now as to what exactly they intend to do with it.

According to many of the reviews that you can Google up, Bender's Game is going to do something that the Futurama writers were always brilliant at doing & parody things which many people take far too seriously; the reviews don't tend to give away too much of the plot, but they do whet your appetite ready for the release).
One thing that is certain is that the reviewers all seem to be of the opinion that it's going to be excellent; most of the reviews I found give Bender's Game 4 or 5 stars.
Roll on 3 November.

At this point I only want it to come back if it can still match the quality of the original series. I firmly believe they could, if not constrained by the DVD/episode hybrid arrangement. Their episode structure was generally thee acts; to make one movie split into four three-act episodes requires a 12-act movie. Obviously this does not work. A feature-length movie typically has 5-6 acts. Diced into four episodes this makes for at least a couple of one-act episodes. This also does not work. IMO they should've dropped the whole four movies idea entirely and just made a 16-episode direct-to-dvd season, four disks with four episodes apeice. That's the format in which the show worked originally, and so it seems natural to me that won't see the same quality come out of shoe-horning the show into a different format. Hence, I was always more excited by the possibility of another normal season to follow the movies than the movies themselves. As far as I'm concerned if they make the four movies and drop it, nobody taking the option to make a new honest-to-god season, then they didn't really bring the show back at all, they just dug it up to milk it one more time. Which is better than nothing, I guess, but ... meh.

We all hope there will be a new season, but im just curious if anyone can say that the movies have pulled new fans into the show. I hope they have but from what i've seen it doesnt seem that new people are interested. I hope eveyone else has seen different results. I have been a die hard fan of futurma since the first episode that aired March 28, 1999 and i have loved every second of it. Maybe i just live in the sad part of the world. I wish there was a way to convince the futurama staff to make more but of course that can't happen without the fans, more fans, sales, so on and so forth. I personaly loved both of the movies released so far. Some of you may disagree but i doubt it considering this is a futurama message board. I guess I'm just looking for the silver lining. Can someone please find it and shove it down my throat. thanx take it easy

Oh, I don't know. I can only talk on the basis of what I saw in the store where I bought my copies but, certainly, in the UK it was only about a month ago that Bender's Big Score left the top 20 TV DVD chart & 2 weeks ago for BWABB.
Thankfully, Sky has never stopped showing Futurama & they've gone for multiple episodes every day, in the aftenoon & at night, with one episode immediately before The Simpsons, so a lot of people might just have become fans of the series after Fox officially killed it off.
Certainly, Sky 1 appears to be concentrating on the, DVD based, episodes starting this Sunday with the new series of The Simpsons sort of pegged onto the trailers; sorry, but I really can't be bothered watching the Simpsons these days so I'm hoping that this is a sign that Sky are hoping the new Futurama episodes will make viewers stick around & watch them.

Has anyone got a trailer for ITWGY that they can put online somewhere?
I'm very surprised it hasn't emerged anywhere yet.
I'm surprised that BG hasn't been leaked to the net yet. FOX must have really tightened down on the number of screener disks sent out. I am hoping to hear some new from Groening, FOX, DXC about a possible revival of the show.

This just adds weight to my theory that FOX has a secret police force.

Well I have been googling it, I was just wondering if there was a specific torrent/video hosting site that had had the first two movies upon leakage.
