how did u not expect that to happen people, Bender's an attention whore, he wasn't getting much attention and got a little angry (funeral scene), when he became emperor he got power and Bender and power together are not good, of course he's going to be a jerk, he could do what he wanted to

Yes but he's never been that much of a jerk. He normally has respect for at least Fry. I know that jerkiness + power in not good but I mean remember in BOI when Bender was captain he was a jerk but then he started to feel bad. In this episode he never felt bad, he got so carried away but still never felt remorse like he did in BOI when he got drunk on power.

I agree not one of the best episodes. I do love the funeral scene, Zoidberg singing "Danny Boy" for example. Also the fact the Bender's dream death is to be "Hit by a runaway semi driven by the incredible hulk."

Zoidberg is such a good singer. What Fry said was really sweet.

Kryten's right, Bender's almost out-of-character in this ep, being so obnoxious even though everyone's trying to cheer him up. Bender usually warms up when people are nice to him (for example, in Fear of a Bot Planet, when Leela and Fry celebrate Robonikah with him).

The highlight has to be Zoidy's singing  :) And the commentary track is a riot! I also like the pointed jabs at religious beliefs:

High Priest: Great Wall of Prophecy, reveal to us God's will that we may blindly obey.
Priests: (chanting) Free us from thought and responsibility.
High Priest: We shall read things off you.
Priests: (chanting) Then do them.
High Priest: Your words guide us.
Priests: (chanting) We're dumb.

Second to all. I really love the commentary. So funny. But yeah. I know I mentioned the Bender was OCC about 4 times today. I don't know if he was writeen that way for this episode on pupose or what but I don't know.

'Xactly. Also like he did in 'BGM' or even 'TCHR' to some extent.

Otherwise I've already said elsewhere exactly what everyone else has already been saying here, basically that he's an obnoxious jackass in this episode, yup. The pseudo-Egyptians are pretty funny though.

Belated comment on A Pharaoh to Remember..Leela was hot in that slaves outfit!

Todays episode is Anthology of Interest II

Actually I watched it Yesterday, I think for the second time ever. I love the one were bender becomes a human, I was also thinking therein lies another Futurama / Red Dwarf connection. As Kryten becomes a human too is the Ep DNA.
I didn't think AoI 2 was as good as AoI 1, then again i really like AoI 1.

I liked AoI 1 better then AoI 2, Leela's first one was better, both of Benders were great, and Fry's first one was better, even though it was worse then Bender's and Leela's first one

Fryīs was probably the best one. Benderīs was put together from too much gross moments and while Leelaīs was fine it was odd how they intentionally avoided using "What if machine" in this case... Also is kinda  misfortunate how the comment "Itīs always next year, professor..." havenīt reached itīs supposed sense.

BTW to previous episode - APTR was terribly unpolished thing. Benderīs desire to be remembered should be written with much more logical introduction. Idea of Egypt-themed planet was pretty wacky and writing there got worse and worse. Not just from Bender but also those mentioned praying quotes from priests. Geez, talk about subtle humor.

I like Fry's one in this one better than his first one. It's my favorite one. I Bender's segment is disgusting but funny. I definatly liked Leela's first one better much more awesome. But this wasn't really a What If clip becuase Leela was knocked out. I wonder what the What If machine would have show if, would have been Leela's Homeworld or something completly outrageous because there is no way it could know that she is a mutant.I have no idea why I am up right now, it's only 7:00 here because the trun back. Leela seems like her impulsive self from AOI1.  She quickly steals those red boots, kills Amy, wants to become a witch and hurt people and turns Professor, Fry and Bender into frogs.

I don't know if I think thats as gross as Bender/Farnsworth. Eugh, I just got really bad image from that.     :puke: Also, why was Zoidberg smelling Donkey Kongs loincloth? I love how Fry put is ASS as his initials and does one of the laughs/chuckles that people do when you do something your not supposed to like your so bad-ass for putting "ass" on a video game.

Also this is really off topic but has anyone notice that the puking smiley smiles before throwing up? Sorry random thought.

Leela- Zoidberg since when do you were boots

Zoidberg- I wasn't wearing it, I was eating it.

I also love how he thinks the crew loves him

Zoidberg- uh a guniea pig(eats it)(glass comes down) Help friends a guniea pig tricked me

Zoidberg- please dont hurt Bender, he's my best frien... (Bender pushes him over and runs)

It isn't that she is being impulsive as much as her just being naturally violent. She only had to be alittle impulsive to go on a killing spree (among other things).   :flirt:

As far as AOI2 goes I love Fry's segment. Especially the shameless use of "All your base" and Fry's speach.

Fry: "Alright! It's Saturday night, I have no date, a two-litre bottle of Shasta and my all-Rush mix tape. Let's rock!"

First segment was gross but fun, second was awesome, third was dull and uninspired, and nothing we hadn't already seen in a zillion previous Wizard of Oz parodies.

The second segment is honestly my favorite of all the AOI segments (although Leela's segment from AOI I is a very close second), but the other two seemed subpar compared to what we saw in the first anthology.

Correlates perfectly with how much of Amy we see in each segment  ;)

I like Fry's segment the best, for all the gaming references (even if I never got to play any as a kid). I probably sound like DXC saying this. but the animation and 3D effects in the Space Invaders scene (and the music) were outstanding!

I liked the Lollipop guild parody, and Zoidberg complaining that he had to take a taxi... but are all topped by Leela as a witch... mmm!   :flirt:

This episode was redeemed by it's ending.

"One planet down! Helmsman, set course... For Earth!"

It's the cackle that does it.

BTW, have I missed Leela's Homeworld? I've gotta rant about that one when it comes...

Well, I don't really post much, but with all the hate I had to jump in to say that the third section in AOI2 is my favorite of the AOI stories.  Though Fry's is close.

Itis weird for me reading this thread how at a site populated by nothing but total Futurama fanatics, how it seems as if there is a lot of hate for one in every 3 episodes or so.
"This episode has too much celebrity cameo in it"
"I don't like baseball"
"I don't like Bender being mean"
I understand there will always be someones least favorite episode, and that maybe it being your least favorite still puts it pretty high up... but it seems like hardly anyone even defends most of the episodes.

I really don't get it.

I agree with that!
I generally defend most of the episodes, but I think maybe some people feel that they need to be more critical or maybe it's easier to pick out things one doesn't like from an episode than it is to realize its overall quality. I've said that there are only about 6 or 7 episodes that I don't love to pieces, but even with those i can still see the good in them. That said, if an episode, such as imo ALOHO or CW - or for that matter the Bender and Leela sections of AOI2, as Officer 1BDI said - is subpar to the series as a whole, then we should express that.

I adore Fry's video game segment in AOI2. The part when the Rush music suddenly starts up as he's playing the video game cracked me up so much i almost fell off my couch.

Truman: If you come in peace, surrender or be destroyed. If you're here to make war, we surrender.
Zoidberg: Both good. The important thing is I'm meeting new people.
Truman: Bushwah! Now what's your mission? Are you planning to make some kind of alien-human hybrid?
Zoidberg: Are you coming onto me?
Truman: Hot crackers! I take exception to that!
Zoidberg: (sexfully) I'm not hearing a no.
[Truman stands up.]
Truman: Nerks to this space crab! If we want information, we'll have to do us an old-fashioned alien autopsy!
[A man holds up a saw behind Zoidberg. Zoidberg turns around.]
Zoidberg: Hooray!

Zoidy is at his best. And Truman coming out of the canned eggs so funny.

This is indeed an awesome episode and arguably one of the more important ones in the longer term plot of Futurama.

Zoidberg is great in this one, as above and with the one i quoted eleswhere yesterday,'The president is choking on my gasbladder, what an honour!'

I also think it's pretty funny the way Fry's grandfather is implicated as being a homosexual.

Grandpa: 'Do you ever think your going out with girls, just because your supposed to'

Fry: 'Don't you ever say that or think that again!'

The episode also won an Emmy.

RTEW was easily one of the best episodes of the series. It has one of my favorite WTF moments ever (Truman busting out of the "canned eggs" crate), some truly warped plot twists, great historical gags, classic lines... pretty much everything you could want in an episode.

See? I can praise an episode that doesn't have Amy in it.  :D

I didn't get the Truman breaking out of the crate joke, mainly becuase i'm not to familiar with truman, so what did the joke mean

also does anyone know what was edited out because of 9/11

Excellent piece of work! Itīs great how many things they put together - stereotypical - but - never - stop - to - be - fresh scif-fi plot, grandfather paradox, historical parodies, UFO and Lochness monster photos, original humor like allready mentioned dialogue with Truman and so on... Definitely the best of the third production.
