The DVD commentary for Bender's Big Score reveals that a movie website exists, www.ilovebender.com  (named after Bender's email address in the movie).  Looks like it's just up, not much there yet, but has wallpapers, screenshots, and a 'widget' to embed in your blog.  Looks like a game will eventually be up as well.

Hee. Great stuff, although bandwidth clogging.

Plus, I looked through the gallery and found something shippy!

I am easily amused.

As soon as I see the movie, I'm going to that website.  Oh, and does anyone know (I doubt it) when the other Futurama movies are coming out?  I know the other movies are due next year, however, anyone know any dates yet?

No dates, but they say the next one is spring, which probably means first quarter 2008, which means april.

There's now an article online on Wired.com about the new Futurama movie. I don't know if the article online will be the same as in the article that will be released tomorrow.

Originally on WIRED:
Groening dreamed up several of the main characters, such as Fry, Leela, Zap, Kif, and Mom, before he tapped Simpsons writer David Cohen to help develop the concept. (He also envisioned a character called Pocket Pal that never appeared in the initial run of the show. Pocket Pal will appear for the first time in the second DVD movie.) Groening, the cartoonist behind the brilliant Life in Hell comic strip, sketched what he imagined the characters looked like as the concept for the show was finalized.

Pocket Pal? Is he anything like Leela's wrist-thing? If Pocket Pal's been in Matt Groening's mind since the days when Bender's name was originally Url, then he might be a recurring character like Scruffy or Randy...

How can he be a recurring character if his first appearance is on the second movie?

I only saw parts of it when it was on youtube and it seemed ok.

But...

I got to see the full movie today. It made me sad because it wasn't like the Family Guy or The Simpsons movie at all. It was just felt a bunch of leftover episodes pasted together.  :(

In the commentary for "Less Than Hero," it was mentioned that Andrew (the mugger's little robot with the gun) either was a pocket pal or was very close to their original concept of one.  Initially Bender was supposed to have a little robot friend/pet, and that would have been the "pocket pal."

ETA: Did anyone else's DVD come with an extra disk?  I grabbed mine from Best Buy and there was an extra packet stuck in the box containing "exclusive bonus content."  I haven't watched any of it yet (classes...) but mArc didn't mention any of the stuff listed (a storyboard and layout animatic, and a preview for the second movie) in his review.

Minor spoilers, so linked; picture of the back of the extra disk packet.

I didn't even realize it was in there until I brought the DVD home.  That reeks that it (apparently) wasn't included with all of the DVDs.   :hmpf:

I just watched the second disk, and the preview for Beast with a Billion Backs is pretty damn substantial. It's about 4 and a half minutes of animatics. What's shown is REALLY good.

Ed: I love the title card.

"lmao". That's hilarious. I went to Walmart to buy my DVD, so as to save five minutes of driving time...boy do I regret it. I had assumed the preview DVD would have been a crappy 5-second teaser that shows othing.
