Every good T.V. sitcom has to have a musical and I think Futurama should too, what do you think    :)

Nahh, the tv series' which have musicals are usually actual tv shows with real people, I don't think an animated musical would be profitable to make and quite unentertaining...

They're making a movie of Futurama, it's called Bender's Big Score it's coming out in 2007-8. But I digress...

Reefer Madness had a musical so why not Futurama.

Welcome to PEEL keel89, try the pancakes and if this is your second welcoming you're extra "special".

Hey keel98, welcome to PEEL

I heartly recommend you to not post more than once in a row. That stuff you did to "rank up" is called spam around here and therefore forbidden. Why? Well people have already linked you to our faq, and in case you didn't know where the link to it is, here you have it again: the PEELers' FAQ.
Please reduce such spamming to 0. The reason behind it is that not only just looks better, but it also reduces the work the server has to do, and the space PEEL needs on it.
Same applies to opening new threads: It's nicer to search for existing threads - you will find the search function on every page top right - than to open new ones.
I am not the one who lays down rules here, but these are basic guidelines to you not to conflict with the rules. Our ubermods are known to be stricter than just to warn people.

Enjoy your stay.

Sorry about that people...
About the musical. Well in my opinion a whole musical won't be the right option for Futurama.
Beside that "The devilhands are Idle playthings" doesn't rank that high for me, I nearly felt asleep during the musical part.  :p  :laff:

yea does a cartoon really need a musical i mean youll more than likely get a bunch of singing in any cartoon so theres no reason for a whole musical episode

I'd love to have a whole musical episode, when you write jokes and put them to music they're ten times better.

All music would be rather boring, but I like short 20-30 second songs like in "Love and Rocket"

I love the little montages but i'd hate a whole musical - unless there was a show made "How do you solve a problem like futurama"  :p

not a musical in the sense that everything would be song but more like a bunch of little songs, like love and rocket, and The Sting, with maybe 1 musical number like Hell is other robots and a Tail of two santas at the end

P.s. Wow this was one of my first threads I started, i've come a long way

If Futurama did an all musical episode, they'd run the risk of not having all the songs to a consistent quality, I like all the songs that've been on the show so far, but that's because each episode tha's had a song in it put all it's energy into one awesong son, instead of doing a few good songs, one or two OK songs, and one or two that was pure shit

With the exception of Devil's Hands - I've always hated the singing parts.
I know I'm alone in this, but it's always seemed a rather silly kind of Disney throwback.

Who the hell starts randomly singing, anyway? Beside psychiatric patients...

Yes yes, beat me up and call me names...

coldangel are you saying you hated Hell is Other Robots, Robot Hell Bonanza   :o

P.S. In the sting, they burst out and sang Be Happy because Leela went crazy, so that one sort-of made sense

Yeah, it made sense in The Sting. Actually, the Bee Happy bit was quite clever.

It isn't that I didn't like the Robot Hell song - it was nifty but... gah. I'm not sure how to word this without sounding like a cocksnap who takes things too seriously, but it fatigues my willing suspension of disbelief when people burst spontaneously into song.
I know it's a cartoon, yes...

[Bender]I'm not allowed to sing. Court order.[/Bander]

Perhaps robot hell emits some sort of music field that forces people to sing as part of its ironic punishment system.

ARRRAGH!! I canna stop myself!!

We're knights of the Round Table, we dance whene'er we're able. We do routines and chorus scenes with footwork impec-cable, We dine well here in Camelot, we eat ham and jam and Spam a lot. / We're knights of the Round Table, our shows are for-mi-dable. But many times we're given rhymes that are quite un-sing-able, We're opera mad in Camelot, we sing from the diaphragm a lot. / In war we're tough and able, Quite in-de-fa-ti-gable. Between our quests we sequin vests and impersonate Clark Gable / It's a busy life in Camelot
.. I have to push the pram a lot

We eat ham and jam and spam alot.

Then of course there's always this:
I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK
A D
I sleep all night and I work all day
(He's a lumberjack and he's OK
He sleeps all night and he works all day)
I cut down trees, I eat my lunch
I go to the lavat'ry
On Wednesdays I go shopping
And have buttered scones for tea
(He cuts down trees...)
(He's a lumberjack...)
I cut down trees, I skip and jump
I love to press wild flow'rs
I put on women's clothing
And hang around in bars
(He cuts down trees...)
(He's a lumberjack...)
I cut down trees, I wear high heels
Suspenders and a bra
I wish I'd been a girlie
Just like my dear papa
(He cuts down trees...)
(He's a lumberjack...)

I add this as a sop to the thread,  The heads of Monty Python would be an excellent addition to the Futurama Musical.

Musical episodes are pretty lame, in my opinion.  Now, if they Futurama-ed it up a bit, maybe the crew visits the some planet where everybody sings, that would be less lame, but only marginally so.
