Hi,

This is my first post on this board, although I've been lurking for quite some time now. I received my Futurama DVD's last Friday, and needless to say, I'm very pleased with them. I even wrote a review of them, which you can read at http://www.dvdinfo.be,  a DVD page that I work for. Futurama is not very well known in our country (Belgium), and I plan to give it a little more media attention that way.

Having said that, I have a couple of questions that I'd like to ask:

1/ I bought my copy from this store: http://www.bensonsworld.co.uk/detail.asp?product=7000000067414
and I noticed that the description on the page included a three-piece folder with e.g. Leela, Fry and Bender flying through the tubes of NNY and what I expect to be some extra information. Now this leaflet was not in my box, just a folder with upcoming FOX releases. Have I just been unlucky???

2/ Did anyone notice that some of the episodes lack the cool opening credit line, For instance "I Roommate" does not contain the line "AS SEEN ON TV", neither does episode 9, "Hell is other robots" contain "CONDEMNED BY THE SPACE POPE". Is there a reason for this? Were these added later on in re-runs or so?

Forgive me my stupid questions, but I'm relatively new to the Futurama-scene (about three months ago I never saw the show). Now I have all episodes either on DVD/VCR/avi file (yeah, I know, but it's the only way to get those here!) from the web up and until the last one, Anthology of Interest 2. Not bad for an instant overnight fandom, eh?

Welcome to PEEL Werner Peeters,
I didn't get that folder with Leela, Fry and Bender through the tubes, I'd never even seen that picture before, but now I feel cheated :(

I checked out my DVD set, and you're right! The caption is missing in some episodes! What the heck?

Welcome to PEEL, Werner Peeters. Enjoy it here.   :D

I haven't gotten that 3-page folder either. The part with Bender, Fry and Leela in the tubes is on the back of the three DVD-boxes though. Maybe it's some kind of preproduction document, thrown into the picture because it looks neat. The right part could look like a characters/cast/staff listings, but that's just guessing on my behalf.

I haven't noticed the missing opening lines, but it could just as easily have slipped my mind. I'll look out the next time I watch the discs.

Edit: D'oh, Tor posted while I wrote this.

I didn't get a booklet either; however, zooming in on the text on the right is just the chapter list that are on the inside of the boxes.

It looks very similar to how the simpsons dvd set was done, with having a fold out card set.  Probably they used the same model as the simpsons card slot and put on some new art but changed it at the last minute to the boxes, I would imagine.

That or they just "screwed" everyone who got the first production set.

Thank you for your nice wishes, everybody.
About the missing quotes, I checked my old videotapes which I taped off our local TV network (Kanaal 2), and found that exactly these two opening lines have disappeared in the version broadcast here, too. And these two are the only ones, obviously, carring that fault. Maybe these were added later in a re-run or so, to comply with the by then famous running joke?

I'm glad to hear that I wasn't the only one with the booklet missing; it would be emotionally difficult to send my precious DVD's back to the UK for a replacement set. I can't bear having to miss them already now...

By the way, if anybody happens to read Dutch, check out my review at http://www.dvdinfo.be/bespreking/tv-serie/futurama-s1.html
