Just saw on CGEF that Fox will be putting on some 'quality' reality shows to compete against Olympic coverage ('When Garbage Cans Overturn' and 'World's Most Pustulent Bedsores', IIRC), and this means that new eps of Futurama now look unlikely until the end of Feb at the earliest.

This, of course, will have a knock-on effect on UK showings, due to begin in March - at this rate, there will only have been *three* new episodes aired since December ('Two Santas', 'Roswell' and 'AOI2'). And since Sky isn't allowed to show new episodes until they've been aired in the States... well, we get screwed too.

On the plus side, I'm sure Sky will compensate by putting on some more reality shows. Great, nothing I love watching more than 'Vile Drunken Meatheads On Holiday II' and 'World's Most Obviously Staged Hot Cooking Fat Accidents'!   :puke:

I'm sure it's been said before, but... FOX SUCKS!

While I don't doubt that Fox will find a way around showing new eps of Futurama I might point out that "Glutton Bowl: The World's Greatest Eating Competition" and "When Animals Invade Your Home" are scheduled for Feb 21st and 22nd respectively.  (Well, Glutton Bowl isn't fixed on the 21st right now.)  That's a Thursday/Friday.  Meanwhile, that CGEF post also had this ray of hope:  "Fox will air most of its regular schedule against the Olympics, primarily with new episodes."  So there is a faint chance that Fox will actually show new eps of Futurama.  Not for a few weeks though.  Next week's a repeat and the week after that's the Superbowl.

Hehe. ::Taunts:: Fox is losing their writers!

I wonder why Fox will try to pit Futurama against the Olympics. I bet it's because since the Olympics is a big ratings-grabber they must think nothing will top it. "people will watch the Olympics more, so let's save us some risk and money by airing cheap, lousy Futurama instead."  Well, I know what I will be watching this Feb!

I guessed this would happen, probably be June when Sky start season 4.

I think that Fox might air Futurama along side the Olympics because they know plenty of people will watch the olympics, meaning that Futurama will get lower ratings meaning FOX will have an excuse to miss treat it even more!

Is it just my imagination, or did the Nagano and Sydney Games fall off the map?  I can remember Lilihammer and Atlanta, but I don't think I saw a moment of the other two.

I think that was due to time zone constraints, Doc

And the fact that the Sydney games were aired in the fall for us northern hemispherians.

There was a big uproar from people in the northern hemishpere (particularily America) about the time the games were being shown... because of the time conflicts if they wanted to show anything live it was at ridiculous hours, which lead to the decision by whatever network covers your olympic games (also a big sponsor of the olympics...big surprise) that we couldn't host the games anymore, but I don't know if that is final.
On topic: Maybe fox is airing Futurama alongside the olympics because it wanted to test its power alongside a worldwide ratings grabber like the olympics... Or maybe Fox is going to treat futurama with the respect it deserves, and has enormous faith in the fact that it will overpower the olympics...  :laff:

The Sydney games were one of the best, most of it took place in the early hours and in the morning our time so it didn't disrupt regular programmes. It was also better organised than certain recent games.

God bless their greediness, but let their TV planners be damned to heck.

Makes you wonder: they know Futurama is good enough to sell lots of DVD/VHS', but it isn't good enough to give a decent timeslot. Funny, if it wasn't so bloddy annoying.
