This is quite a happening, indeed... Hopes waaay up, hopes waaay down, hopes up again... Well, it appears that the DVD's are for sure, at least BW believes so. Although, perhaps Ralph is not so misguided about the fact that someone told BW to wait until FOX announces it by itself? I mean, if "one end" told BW about those hypothetic episodes, perhaps some friend over there, what is the "other end"? FOX executives, perhaps? Because that's as other-end-y as you can get. Still, I like the theory about waking up and finding out futurama didn't exist in the first place, and we are all octopuses who used to be pretty blond girls.

Myself, and I guess most of us will be happy with any new futurama, while 26 new episodes would of been great I think the movies are our best bet to hope for in regard to making animal sacrifices in the name of Matt...

I think the time would be right soon to bring Futurama back to T.V., by most peelers thoughts what really did futurama in was bad time slots, pea-brain marketing, and Americas seemingly endless lust for reality shows that set the bar lower every time. It seems to me that in the last year or so here have been alot less reality shows that are coming out (there is still a lot though.)Which has exposed the need for more quality non- reality programs.

I'm really curious as to who told Mr. West about the 26 nonexistant episodes in the first place. He seemed to trust the source well enough to make the announcement, and to be honest, I'm not sure I buy the idea that DXC or someone else told him to retract his statement simply because they weren't ready to release it yet. After all, the DVD statement wasn't retracted. I think both projects are still in the stages of being discussed and given the go ahead. It seems as if the movie's are a little more concrete than the 26 new episodes, but if someone in the know gave that info to Billy then the idea must exist and be being talked about. Also, FOX probably doesn't want a huge media frenzy surrounding the possible return of the show if they decide that both projects are a no go. In the coming months its probable that fox will issue an official comfirmation/denial about the movies and possibly the new episodes aswell. 26 new episodes doesn't look very likely at the moment, however with all this information being given by BW (true or not) it does seem as though theres a small chance it might happen. Despite the vagueness of Billy's comments, it does seem however that the movies are likely to happen as there hasn't been a denial over those rumors from any source. 26 new episodes of futurama is a prety random thing to just make up, I mena 26 is a pretty uncommon number eh?
... Its not something you just think of on the spot
And Billy must've believed enough to go to the trouble of posting it?
So maybe someone at Fox has told him to keep quiet about it?>????

The movies are still unconfirmed rumours. Neither Matt Groening nor FOX have said anything substantieal about them.

Where's your messiah now, saltyseasnax?
I was thinking about this last night before I went to bed. Call me a pessimist, but the longer it takes to bring back Futurama, the lower the chance that it will come back at all. The release of that "monster robot" collection thing would have been the perfect jumping off point for relaunching the series or announcing the movies. Sadly, neither of these things happened. The question then becomes, how many episode collections can they release before the hype is dead and fandom is more than simply the hardened core? My guess is they could release one more anthology before Futurama collapses into the oblivion of television obscurity. That, more than anything else, confirms in my mind that Futurama is not coming back.

[SC stifles urge to make a sarcastic reply] Sorry about that. I seem to recall from the dim gray mists of history, that, at one time, a season's-worth of a TV show was 26 ep's. Shows were commonly ordered 26 at a time. Perhaps that's where Mr. West got the number from? Perhaps not. Shows are commonly ordered 13 at a time nowadays. Or so I'm told...
