Sorry to bump this ancient thread *blows dust off* but seeing as this was made before it got cancelled and i was going to start a thread with this question but thought i better search for old ones first theres no harm right?

Anyway with all the talks of late of a futurama movie i was wondering? do you think the movie should/will be a continuation of the series giving it a proper finale (hopefully dripping in shippy goodness) or a seperate adventure reminiscent of past tv show movies i.e. the south park movie, family guy movie (which i havent seen but have heard about), the pokemon movie(s) and possibly the yu gi oh movie (which i havent seen thank god, i could tell it would be an hour and a half piece of trash that reaches a climax involving him needing to get a single card out of his deck to beat some evil force which for some reason plays a crappy card game... how i start these rants i dont know) that has no real bearing on the existing plot. thoughts please!

Edit: (not to mention my first totpd)   :p

    • Excellent find!
    • You used the 'Search' function! Very good for a noob.
    • Welcome to PEEL!
IHMO, Futurama had three fundamental assets:

Humor: First and foremost, it's funny
Heart : Characters you care about. This is the primary thing that appeals to 'shippers'.
Head : It's smart. It intelligently skewers common conventions in science fiction, and cracks wise on science - C'mon! What other show makes jokes based on Quantum Physics?

While I have no direct answer to the thread question, IF the movie(s) get made, or the series is revived, it seems to me if the result is worthy to bear the name "Futurama" depends on reassembling the cast & crew.

I'll just crawl back out under the door now...

I would like to see it animated.  I would have it be two hours long.  I could see a Futurama movie being like a treasure hunt a'la It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, and a plot where the fate of the future lands in the hands of Fry, plus, a 'Runaway Train' kind of thing.  I wouldn't want it to be an extended episode.  Or a bunch of episodes strung together.  (i.e. MST3K's Master Ninja movies).

A soundtrack of alternative rock would be cool. I'd like to see Fry and Leela get closer, and Kiff and Amy as well.  Plus, I would like to see Bender get a girlfriend and then gets dumped or he dumps her at the end.  All these other ideas I read are really good.

I'd like a continuation of the whole Fry/Leela thing, but in the overall context of the series.  I'd like to see more of the brainspawn and the Nibblonians.  I guess I want to see something epic (sort of a continuation on the ideas from the "Why of Fry" ) - especially if there is more than one movie.  I would prefer they didn't do something like "Fry, Leela and Bender go on a crazy adventure and ignore everything that happened previously during the series."

ok ive read the whole thread and i can say 1)im a diehard anime fan(about a £400 collection thats about $820 just on movies)but no way would i have futurama in anime i fell in love with it as a cartoon and so it shall remain a.k.a NO to live action as well 2)i never watched the series of yu-gi-ho but a friend that was a fan got me to see the film and i can say blane ure correct i fell asleep after about 35-40mins of manually holding my eyes open 3)the movie should be close to the episodes or a fantasmal finish and should stick to its comedi root with a mediam plot and music would be good as well as some romace (as we have seen in the series also the fry and leela thing should be the main romace) 4)Kryten is your name refuring to the Kryten from farscape or the Kryten of hovering squid world 97a he he lol
