Lets face it guys, the 4th season of Futurama is now underway which means sooner or later there's bound to be a Futurama clip show. I am not fond of the idea but I expect that sometime during season 5 or 6 (if they get made) there will be some sort of a clip show.

By season 4 of The Simpsons the first of many Simpsons clip shows began, the first one actually worked very well even though it was a cheap way of making an episode. From the sound of it, we have been spared a clip show in season 4 of Futurama but I'm sure that at the latest, there will be a clip show before the final episode of Futurama ever.

Anyway, back to the point, I made this thread assuming a clip show will one day be made, what clips would you most like to see used?

I don't watch much tv, but has anyone made a clip show in the past few years? It seems like an outdated concept now. Especially now that most tv seasons are like 20 episodes or less.

what the heck is a clip show? Random clips from random eps thrown together?

Yea, basically they make up some form of storyline (in simpsons, they did a musical 1 and a love 1 and others) and put a load of clips with a small bit of new material to glue it together into an episode.

Wishfull thinking...I'd rather have a hour block with a new episode followed by a repeat.  I never did get to review the Space Pilot...Didn't even know Fururama existed the first time and was unprepared the second time..."The Series Has Landed" more than made up for that.

It's nice to know that you do have inteligants and managed to write a normal post :)

Anyway I never said what clips I would use:
1)Suicide Boothe(Space Pilot 3000)
2)Fry & Leela tring to be robots(Fear of a Bot Planet)
3)Fry & Leelas wedding(The Time Keeps on Slippin')
4)Snu Snu scene(Amazon Women in the Mood)
5)Benders reactions to emotion chip(I Second that Emotion)
6)A mixture of Benders bad antics like stealing, X-ray glasses, Swearing followed by his caring side like in "I Roommate".

Well they are some of the clips I would show but theres plenty more.

Well, some of the clips I thought would be nice to include:

The lunar lander conversation from "The Series has Landed"
The poker game from "How Hermes Requested his Groove Back"
The scene in the Zapper's quarters in "Loves Labour..."
The karaoke part of "Amazon Women in the Mood"
The scene in "AOI I" where Leela wacks Scruffy, Cubert and Nibbler
Some clips from the Internet-part of "A Bicyclops..."

There is more, but I'll stop now.

Futurama doesn't seem like they could really fit a clip show into it.  I guess in a flashback show of past deliveries they made or something?  But I don't expect to see any clip shows, and if they do make one I have confidence it will be a good.

Well, they'll probably have a theme to the clips. Maybe a collection of romance clips... wait, they did that in "Another Simpsons Clip Show". Maybe it could be great moments in Futurama history. I don't know, what do I look like, someone who's smart?

I agree SS. A Romance show would be the easiest to do. All the available clips of Amy & Kif, Leela & Fry, probably some Bender & Countess/Angelene/the Ship... and on and on.

Astrozombie and theeta would throw a fit...  :laff:

I doubt that there would be a clip show. Matt Groening said that the Simpsons is a fictitious show whereas Futurama is meant to be "real." I understand what he says by that and because of that, I doubt there would be a clip show.

Don't be surprised if Alkazar doesn't E-Mail Leela again!!  Fits his profile.

Hey Frysgirl's using my avatar! Wow, I feel... special. Anyhoo, I bet that if they were to do a clip show, they'd put a nice twist on it, like using a time machine and going back to when these things happened, but making them diferent... Kind of like, I don't know if anyone saw it, but that 'clip' episode of South Park, where they're in the bus, and they flash back to everything that's happened, only instead of Kenny Dying, everything ends with them eating ice cream and Cartman saying: 'Now that was a sticky situation'

They can do a delivery clip show where the Professor makes the whole crew look at past videos of their work so they can bone up on their deliveries. But I think thats a bland idea. A romance one would work great, though. There are lots of romances that you can think of. Maybe end it with a song.

I do wish they would use at most 10 of their 25 minutes to show clips. It'll still be a good 60% new content. I doubt it though.

Hopefully they'll always have enough unaired episodes that they won't have to resort to filler.  I have a feeling the show'd be cancelled before they had to resort to a clip show.

If anybody of you even cares, I'm actually working on a clipshow myself right now. I havn't made much yet, but as I said, I'm working on it. I don't know when it's going to be finished, 'cause I have no idea about how long it will be.....

What kind of clips are you thinking of incorporating into your clip show Kill All Humans? Will it have a theme or be random? Finally, will you post it online when it's finnished?

It seems that Season 13 of The Simpsons this year will once again have a clip show, they are still being made!, here's a quote from Evergreen Terace:

"Gump Roast" (DABF12) Airdate: ??/??/02
This will be a clip-show in the form of a Forrest Gump parody, with Homer looking back at his many adventures in the past. This episode was written by Dan Castellaneta.

Maybe the possibility of a Futurama clip show isn't such an off the wall idea, I'm not saying I particually want one though.

Hey, three seasons and four movies later and still no clip show. I'd say that's pretty good.

There was a discussion in one of these threads a few months ago how someone thought one of the newer eps. was a clip show but I can't remember which one it was. Regardless, there wasn't. I hope it never comes to that. There is so much they have yet to explore with the future, and I hope they exploit that to its advantage in upcoming seasons. I'm tired of seeing everyday normal drama that you can drop in any present tv show and it would work (like YLL).

It was a clampshow, not a clipshow. Slight difference.

There was a discussion in one of these threads a few months ago how someone thought one of the newer eps. was a clip show but I can't remember which one it was.

Some silly-willies on another website thought "Reincarnation" was a clip show. A clip show of what, I haven't a clue--but still. People are just kind of dumb.

Also, I remember one of the Simpsons producers (maybe Al Jean?) once mentioning that clip shows are no longer viable for that show because of DVDs and DVRs and other abbreviations. People now have easy access to pretty much every episode of the series, so that aspect of clip shows--the idea of compiling memorable moments from fans' favorite episodes and putting them all in one place--no longer seems necessary.

At any rate, I don't think we'll ever really see a Futurama clip show--both for the reason cited above, and because it would appear that the staff is well-budgeted for twenty-six episode production seasons. I think, in the case of the Simpsons, they were contracted for more episodes than they could reasonably produce considering the constraints of animation, so inevitably some of those episodes had to be clip shows. I don't see that problem happening with Futurama.

That is true Gorky, back in the early days of Simpsons there was no such thing as YouTube. You can pretty much find all the clipshows you would ever need on that, synced with perfectly awesome or hideously awful music!

Reincarnation wasn't a clip show and neither was Silence of the Clamps

Oh yeah, this thread, totally forgot about this one, Randi... I'm glad there's still been no clip show, it was weird seeing Fry from Space Pilot 3000 again in The Why Of Fry and him commenting on how fat he looks, perhaps the closest we'll get, and hopefully it'll stay that way...

Ah yes but that was integral to the plot, wasn't just a bunch of nicely timed clips put together to fill the void. I see your point though. I am not accusing you of anything... ;)

I'd actually watch a Futurama Clip Show. If it was, say 20% new stuff tying the clips together, it might actually be nice to revisit some old scenes, perhaps have them extended by a few seconds for extra funnies. Maybe see them from other perspectives or something. I'm sure Futurama could do a decent re-imagining of the standard clip show format.

Sounds like a reasonable proposition for such an episode. Perhaps the concept would become more palatable in that light, it's certainly quite an enticing prospect given the creative somewhat Futurama-y spin...
