Wow, this thread still exists?
The clues separated by the plus signs should suggest a word or phrase. Each of the suggested words or phrases must have a syllable or word in common with the suggested word or phrase adjacent to it.
For example, the first clue is meant to suggest "chewing the corners off," citing the line in AToF, "In State Of Alabama vs. Giant Space Iguana, chewing the corners off the Constitution was deemed non-protected speech."
In the next clue, "apparen" is supposed to be "apparent." More relevantly, the bureaucrat outside of the Central Bureaucracy says of Bender, "Looks like we've got a new office cut-up," in HHRHGB. Since the clue already states "new," the suggested phrase would be "office cut-up."
Now adding the two together we see that "chewing the corners off" and "office cut-up" have a common syllable at their adjacent ends. This gives us, "chewing the corner (off)ifce cut-up..."
Enjoy the game. It really is quite cool. As for the rest of you: I've already half-solved this puzzle! Let's keep it going!
