Nope, that's not our David X Cohen, but it might the guy responsible for the X in David X Cohen.

From the "My Three Suns" audio commentary":

Groening: "So, David, why the X? Why is it David X Cohen?"
Cohen: "You don't believe that's my real middle initial? That's a completely fraudulent adendum to my name. What happened was...when we started Futurama all of the animated shows on TV suddenly came under the jurisdiction of the Writers Guild, which is the union of tv and movie writers. And they wouldn't allow any two members to have the same name. Unfortunately some other jerk, David S Cohen, had the nerve to be in before me. So I had to junk my S and come up with some other fake initial."
Billy West: "And I know you both."
Cohen: "Do you know the other David S Cohen?"
Billy West: "From New York."
Cohen: "He's a good guy, I've met him...we've traded checks several times. (laughter) I figured X would make me the David Cohen people remembered."

I didn't think it was possible to quote that without mentioning the little tag at the end. You found a way...

J. Stewart Burns: I actually just put a "J" in front of my name to sound snooty.
*David X. Cohen*: Boy, we're the two phoniest writers in town.

At any rate, the mere fact that there are there are supposed to be Futurama movies in production and Billy West hasn't heard anything about it does not bode well. I'm not being cynical here, just skeptical. There's a difference.

I have little to no experience with PhotoShop, but some of the shadows round the nerd's face just look odd. And the door does look out of scale, as has already been said.

So it's definitely not photoshopped and was taken 20 april, less than a day before the article was posted. Either that or the EXIF data was forged   :)

Oh wow, definitely an interesting find there, HDC.  I'm happy to see that the chances of it being Photoshopped are getting more slim.  It doesn't really change TOO much, as he could just be lying about what Groening said, but it certainly helps the claim a little bit.  This is a bit more reliable than just "it looks real to me" or "it looks fake to me."

And yeah, the claim was copied to the article I linked on the 21st, meaning the original post the guy made would have had to been before that.  Either late at night on the 20th, to sometime earlier on the 21st.  And since the guy making the claim is writing on the same night as meeting Groening, (he said, "I met Matt Groening tonight" ), that supports it a little bit also.

Send to all, damnit!  Each area will want to hear from us, since they're all involved in some way (Fox network not quite as much).  As suggestion, you don't need to mention the rumor, but it can't hurt (something like "I heard a rumor about a Futurama movie in the works.  I don't know if its true, but I'm a huge fan and I'd like to voice my support for the idea" or whatever).  Even if the rumor doesn't convince you in the slightest, do it anyway.  It can't hurt the chances of a future movie now, can it?

Oh....and DON'T BE MEAN TO FOX.  I know we're all still mad at them, but these aren't the people we want to make mad in return.  Be civil and polite; suggest the idea, but don't tell them to "fuck off" for cancelling the show.

Yes, mass mailings to the Fox mailboxs is in order. All on PEEL should join in, anything by anyone will help. Even if it there isn't a movie, seeing all these emails will certainly help.

The only thing that would get their attention would be if all the Futurama nerds showed up at their office and staged a protest. They'd do it just to get rid of us, but any end to accomplish a goal!

RDS insider added this:

Sorry SimpoRama, I really can't say anymore about it.

In the meantime, maybe you should write a polite, honest note to FOX (without mentioning internet rumors) letting them know how you feel about the subject.

That's the news from the inside!

I actually took the several minutes to write a friendly, short E-mail to Fox.  Unfortunately, I did mention internet rumors, so now I feel detrimental.  Well, at least I didn't say where I heard them... Just that "There have been many rumors circulating the internet as of late"

Also, may I add that we still have no clue if RDS insider is even credible at all.

Another little good sign.  From someone else at the RDS forum, regarding the guy there who is encouraging us to contact FOX:

Quote
Let me ease any doubts about our friend RDS insider. The guy is a credible source of info and I stand by his claims. As far as his membership status, there are a lot of people from the studio who post here as guests...because they're lazy.

Anyway, in regards to the possility of a Futurama movie, we on the production end of Futurama -- just like you, the fans -- are keeping our fingers crossed that it becomes a reality.

That's from someone who's been there for over a year, backing up the claim just a bit more.  This is starting to get interesting.      :)

EDIT:  And everyone make sure to email FOX if you haven't already!  Get your friends to do it too, there more the better.  :O

I'm currently sending this to the email addresses:

Greetings, to whomever it may concern.

As I'm sure you are aware, the FOX animated series, "Futurama", was cancelled quite awhile ago.  With this thought in mind, one may think that the show would slowly fade away, and possibly be forgotten...

However, this is not the case in the least.  In fact, Futurama's popularity has only grown since it was aired on FOX, and still consistently gets some of the highest ratings on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.  Knowing this, it seems reasonable to think that the show deserves another chance of some sort.  Whether it be through a chance for a revival of the series, or just a movie or two on DVD, the series has grown a great fanbase that would enthusiastically follow it to whatever opportunity arises.  Simply put, this series is a huge hit among the 18-25 age group, and that's years after it has already been cancelled!

This is why I request that Futurama be brought back for an encore.  I truly feel that it would not be a mistake in the least for the network of FOX.

Thanks for your time,

Steve, a Futurama fan.

["Dun Dun Dunnnn"s Davey's notice to the commentary cut off with Matt's Master Plan]

Perhaps this is the master plan. Or this rumor has nothing to do with the comment on the commentary. Or the comment on the commentary was just a joke.

I think it was implied that at the time, Matt had no real plan. If you listen he sounds quite unsure of himself. Besides, he only said it because the others pushed him.

Edited for ending with a preposition. Damn grammar, with all its stupid rules.
