That depends.  Is she a mutant?  Is she an alien?  She could have been living her whole life on her home planet.  No one knows, except for maybe Matt Groening, David X. Cohen, and a writer or two.

I'm still on the "She's an alien"-team. Makes her a much more compelling character, and would provide some good laughs when/if she finds her home planet.

LEELA IS AN ALIEN, she said it heluva lot of times!

But I think she wouldn't cuz well, that's what special about her is that she's cyclops and "one of her species".

I'm pretty sure there is a planet "cyclopia", but she'll prolly never find it.

I don't think she'll find her home planet, unless it is in the final episode, hopefully many years from now.

I doubt she will. After all the biggest rule in animation shows is at the end of the episode everything is back to normal and since being a throw-away (for lack of a better term) is part of her charactor even if she searches for her planet she probably won't find it for a few more years.

I think she's presently living on it.  :)   But that's only 'cos I think the mutant theory leads to some LFRism.

Not if my fanfic is accurate.

Seriously though, I don't like the possibility, however likely, that she is a mutant.  It restricts way too much.  If she is a mutant, and those were her folks in "I Second That Emotion", then what will her alienation from society be?  She'd be technically human, just mutated, and aren't we all mutants of a lower form of life?

I like my explanation the best, even though it may not be entirely accurate according to the powers that be.

In conclusion, read my fic.

I've never bought the fact that Leela is an alien and never will, the mutant theory is still a reasonable option, until the writers/producers etc throw another curveball, and add another unthought of possiblity into the loop.

Of course Leela is an alien. If she was a mutant, it would have showed in a physical examination a long time ago. At the very least they would have discovered it, when she got her job at the Fate Assignment Corps. There is no way she would have gotten that job without a comprehensive, thorough physical.

But I don't think she will find her homeplanet for a long time, perhaps never. If she does find it, wouldn't she leave Planet Express to go live with her own race? Besides her ongoing quest to find her homeplanet is one of the things that defines her as a character.

Solet her keep searching for her homeplanet (as long as it doesn't evolve into V'ger-ness).

Straight out of "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves":

Sheriff of Nottingham: "When I catch him I'll cut out his heart with a spoon"
Guy of Gisbourne: "Why a spoon, cousin? Why not an axe?"
Sheriff of Nottingham: "Because it's DULL, you twit, it'll hurt more!"

About the physical examinations thing who is to say that even if she was an alian her physiology would be to far removed from our own. If her DNA was different in some way it could be down as a mutation. I'm still on the mutant band wagon so I think she is on her home planet.
