no way. he can't. everytime he tries to get closer to her, he screws up and produces frankenstein thingies.
i'm sorry, but he doesn't have the lingual skills to go beyond "let's go out", and that's just not enough for leela

Leela has to many demands about men and we know that she has a weak spot for Fry   , but if they ever gone get together Fry must be mature or Leela has to lower her demands.
another way could be if Fry got infested with parasites again

It's not Leela's high standards that's keeping them apart, it's Fry's immatureness. When Fry acts mature and rational, they'd had some good connections. Just look at "X-mas Story", the lunar lander scene in "The Series has Landed", errr there are other scenes, but they elude me at the moment.

But I much more prefer them to remain good freinds. There seems to be more jokes in a freindship. Ofcourse just IMHO.

And Leela shouldn't lower her standards, she's a prize catch, she can afford to wait (and who knows maybe Fry'll meet her standards one day).

Leela might say yes to go out on a date with Fry, if she was more impulsive. Just a little. Not too much.

But then again Fry would probably "disappear" mysteriously during the date.

I wish, but don't hold your breath for that one. Simpsons have been going on for 13 years and no movie. Futurama has been on for soon to be 4 years, high dowbts. But you never know.

She shouldn't lower her standards, she DOES get guys. Remember Crustacean in Love? When Fry shows Zoidy how to act like he's in love and Leela says "Oh please, we'd never fall for... wait a minute. They've ALL been doing that? Even [some guy's name]"

She can get a male if she wants one. The question is if she can get one she wants.

And she still does in season 4. But she does see a side of Fry that she really likes in one episode. But then she's back to her more frustrating antics again in later eps. It's always back & forth. It makes good comedy.
