Fall Madness Finals - Fry vs. Leela

As I sit down to ponder my vote here, I must take into consideration the qualifications of the candidates.  One the one hand, we have the star of the show, its best, most human (literally) source of comedy, and a genuinely lovable Everyman.  And of course, he did do the nasty in the pasty.
 

Verily.

On the other hand, we have the show's straight (wo)man.  Though she had few memorable lines or jokes to herself, the comic balance of the show would have been lost without her. She was the source of some of the most emotionally wonderful episodes (though Fry had his own now that I think about it.) And of course, she did do the nasty with the Zapper.
 

Bam.

Both characters overcame adversity - Fry his stupidity and Leela her ridiculously unpleasant childhood - to become respectively a delivery boy* and a starship captain.
They are two sides of the same coin: Fry naive and optimistic, Leela practical and cynical, if a bit cocky. Both can be utter, utter morons sometimes (see LLLiS, ABBFT, TWOF and LH for Leela, pretty much every other episode for Fry.)
And of course, these two characters share a love - on some level or another - much stronger, truer to life, and deeper than almost any other fictional television couple, which makes it even harder to choose one over the other.

To summarize, and before I get into too deep of a psychological/literary analysis here, I can't really decide, so I'll go with Leela.  I've supported her through several tough contests, and I won't stop now.

I won't mind if Fry wins, though.

*Formerly Emperor, billionaire, entrepeneur, war hero, genius, fate assignment officer, Executive Delivery Boy, Wall Street toady, and world-renowned Holophonist.

As cool of a character as Leela is, I gotta go with Fry on this... after all, it is Fry who is the only other person I know, fictional or not, who has done a 100 cup of coffee challenge, which I repeated... with pretty disgusting results.

The way I figure it, Fry deserves a chance to win without his clover.

I find it sad that the final four characters were the four that everyone expected to be there. It seems like we've spent a lot of time to find out what we already knew.

I voted for Fry not out of spite, but because I do like him as a character better than Leela.

tough choice. i know them both very well. i have to go with fry though. he could have thrown me away long ago but he didn't. he's a great guy.

I briefly glimpsed this poll a few hours after it started, and the close race had me a bit worried that I might not have picked the correct winner. Fortunately PEELers are pathetically predictable.

So now I can vote for my favorite character, and not the one I picked as winner. Also what N-O-R said.
