What other folk songs, well, besides 'Jimmy Crack Corn'  do you wish Bender could've sang?  I could see him doing that song from that Laurel and Hardy movie 'Flying Dueces' called 'Shine On Harvest Moon'.  Any others?

I've always wondered why he didn't sing 'What shall we do with a drunken sailor' in The Birdbot of Ice-Catraz. Would have fitted in perfectly.

I can't think of any folk songs that haven't already been done, except for that crazy 'flies in the buttermilk' one...

I don't know if this is true, but I heard in the commentaries that they wanted to do some folk songs, but that they didn't want to pay for the rights. (But I might have misheard them.)

I'm pretty sure you're right on that one.

Yeah, I remember them saying they wanted Bender to sing something like "Blowing in the Wind," but they couldn't fork over the cash for it.  Which is a shame, because fair-use songs generally aren't funny.

I thought Bender started singing "Blowin' in the Wind" during TSHL when Fry put a refrigerator magnet on him, but maybe I'm imagining that.

There was this one folk song that they made us sing in elementary school that we just thought was hilarious. Especially when sung with an uber-Southern accent. I believe it went something like "Way down yonder in the brickyard...REMEMBER MEEE!" It coulda worked for the Egypt episode, maybe.  :hmpf:

That "I was standin' on a corner in Arizona..." song would probably suit it pretty well.
