Hi all,

I would like to ask a question... I only really got in to futurama towards the end of the series... bought all the dvds, loved them, and watched them when i had spare time. Am i the only one that felt... empty after watching 'the devils hands are idle playthings'? after watching these guys go on heaps of adventures and stuff, its really sad to see it end...

even if it is only a cartoon... (am i going crazy?)

Yes, it's only a cartoon.  No, you're not going crazy.  Emptiness... yes.  It's over, and it's very sad.  That's why we're all here.

And welcome to PEEL.  Don't be upset if this thread is closed soon, though.  I believe there are a couple threads already discussing this.  Enjoy your stay here  :D

Empty? I felt more raped after I watched that episode. Kind of a piss poor note to go out on, really.

(Shut up, TheLampIncident)

Look at this way: 4 amazing seasons vs 16 average-to-low seasons.

You mean about 3 average-to-lows(recent) seasons.

11 average-to-low seasons. 4-9 were the best seasons.

4-9?  Not by a long shot.

But to answer the main question, perfectly normal.  Its normal to feel a little empty once you've realized there's no more episodes to see.  I certainly felt that way, as great as the finale was.

But the finale is great, and it makes it nice to view every episode in order and eventually built to it, with a satisfying ending.

The Simpsons season 9... among the best? I disagree. Seasons 13-15 (and what we've seen of 16) are way better IMO.

Anyway, I love DHAIP. It's such a brilliantly done finale. Still, I could understand feeling empty, but only because there are no more episodes, not because the last one was bad.

I felt both, because of both reasons. It was the last note, and it was just such a crappy way to go out. Ugh. Operas. Love. Conflict. Friendship. It all sickens me.

Empty is not the most adequate term I think. Sure, many things from show were left unresoloved (for not fault of the creators)but it was actually nicely closed (as for now) as well.
