Futurama's seasons

Some people say Futurama only had 4 seasons hence the fact it was only on for four years.
I just looked on TV Tome clicked on episode list and it said it had 5 seasons. 

Which is right?  4 seasons or 5?

There were four production seasons (the DVD's go in production order), but FOX never aired the episodes in their intended production order. So the five seasons coordinate with FOX's airing of the episodes, and the four DVD seasons coordinate with the production of the episodes. Does that make sense? For example, "The Route of All Evil" from production Season 3, never aired on FOX until their Season 5.
