Hi everyone, you may have seen the rumour on http://www.moviehole.net/news/4209.html
Its now been updated, and although it could still be utter tosh, it does sound kinda plausable. Enjoy!

The latest word on Futurama
Posted on Thr, 16-Sep-2004

The response to last week’s article on some possible movement regarding new episodes of “Futurama” was absolutely massive, and after speaking with some insiders, I have new word on what exactly is going on, in the form of good news, and bad news.

The Bad News:
It looks more & more likely that Fox will not be picking up “Futurama” for another season, a’la “Family Guy” at the current time, but before every fan screams and turns their computer off, don’t panic, because the good news is actually really good!

The Good News:
As I wrote last week, at the time the show was put on hiatus by the network, there were multiple episodes in the early to 50% stage of development (of what was actually the fifth season of the show), and while these won’t be appearing on television anytime soon, Fox has apparently commissioned the remainder of these episodes to appear in another DVD box set, which will be in one of the following configurations:

1). A two disc set, covering all of the remaining episodes.
2). A 3 disc set, containing the episodes, plus a third disc of “Best Of” episodes, or
3). The above, with a bonus fourth disc containing all new special features.

From what I’ve been told by various people, Fox will be basing a decision to renew on whether this new set sells or not, but have not decided which of the above they will be manufacturing.

Apparently the great sales of the first four sets have not been enough to convince them to pick up another order, unlike “Family Guy”, but I have been told that if the new set sales figures do not convince them, they will pass along the option to Cartoon Network.

Good news everyone!

- Adam Weeks.

Bear in mind that this has not been confirmed by any other sources, and is simply an article on one of many movie sites.

Even if this rumour isn't true, the idea of Fox bringing out a few more DVD's, then passing Futurama over to CN isn't a bad one, its a lot more likely than Fox admitting they screwed up and bringing back the show.

Hmmmmmmm....

I would dismiss this as another baseless rumor, but futufan's thread (linked above) does give some merit to this idea of a straight-to-DVD season.

But it's still not much beyond "according to sources" and "rumors has it".

Too bad CN doesn't have the money to finance a new season on their own anyway.

More concrete evidence, more threads left open.

Teral's link should be well enough for (a of now) mostly bseless optimism.
