Has anybody heard anything in a while about Math Groening week on [as]?  He was originally going to introduce his favorite episodes in june, but it was delayed.  Does anybody know if it is still going to happen and if so, when?  I haven't seen anything on [as] about it in a couple of months and I can't find anything about it on their boards.

Thanks,
Nate

Good question. I have no idea and that makes me angry because I dont want to miss it. Didn't we already have a thread for that though?

Supposedly, the Matt Groening week was rescheduled for September.  But I think we'd have heard something about that.  Honestly, I don't really know. [as] is usually pretty good about hyping up its schedule changes.

I just scoured old messages in the [as] comedy folder.  According to one TMD, they are scheduled for the week of the 27th.  Adult Swim better get on their horse and start promoting this thing, otherwise I might accidentally start comparing them to FOX.  They gave Seth Week pretty good props, and I wanna see the same for Matt Week.  Otherwise it'll just confirm my fears that Futurama doesn't get a fair shake no matter where it is.

Will any of you fine people consider posting the clips on the internet, perhaps on bittorent or some other file sharing device, for us poor chumps outside the US?

I'll pay you in cookie recipies (as I don't think an actual box of choco honey snaps can be emailed).

Maybe the might wait till the end of this syndication before starting Matt week. Usually, that's what they might do. I checked www.adultswim.com,  and the schedule's still syndicated till the end of the month.

Seth week was great... I enjoyed every episode he picked. I'm sure Matt will have great insight as Seth did.

Sorry for asking a stupid question, but what does "syndicated" mean?

The way it's being used here, I assume, means being aired in standard production order, rather than by request, by MG's preference, on a theme, etc.

Syndicated typically means episodes whose airing rights were sold (conditionally) to an outlet unrelated to the producer, i.e., a FOX Cartoon on Turner's Cartoon Network.

I could have sworn that Matt week was before that. I swear up and down I saw the one where he introduced Luck of the Fryrish.

Originally, if what I remember is right, Matt was supposed to host his week in May or June, before Seth's week.  For whatever reason, Matt's was put on "hiatus," while Seth got to go.  I guess there must have been some legal trouble or time conflicts or something to prevent Matt from going at his specified time.

Evan - one of the Adult Swim insiders told me (via the [as] message boards) that it was postponed because they assumed no one knew about it (must have been trying to make an example on how FOX promoted the show... ).  I believe Seth Week was postponed as well, but don't quote me on that.  And I have no idea why they postponed Matt Week so long; I never got a straight answer.  I think it was originally rescheduled to last month, and this is the second postponement.

I said this before somewhere already, but what the hell?

They're probably gonna wait to wrap up this run of Futurama before showing Matt week. Maybe that might be the best time to skive off and show a week of his favorite episodes rather than right in the middle of the run.

Then again, I'm just guessing that from the Adult Swim schedule.

that could be a good point LJ. Wait until this run of reruns ends and then have Matt come on and do his favorites. A very good possibility indeed.

The run should end around mid-to-end October. Adult Swim has nothing posted on it yet (the furthest they go up to is Sunday, October 3rd). So, we'll have to wait a while before seeing much of anything.

And they usually do a lot of advertising for their events at the last minute, if I'm not off on that. I think Seth week was advertised only a week before it started. The only thing they advertised that's a long ways off is the announcement of new Family Guy episodes.

So, let's keep our fingers crossed on Matt week.

^^^If that's true, we should see an annoucement tomorrow. (9/19/2004.) He's supposed to be on September 27th, right?

Can someone also help me with registering on the Adult Swim Message Boards? I keep clicking Register, and nothing happens. I tried other websites and their links, and they work just fine. So I don't know if there's a problem with their link, or my computer.

Proof positive that the people at Adult Swim are weirder than we are.

Also, it shows that Matt Groening may yet be featured on Adult Swim, and that he is still in their minds.  When I clicked on the link, I was so desparately hoping they would mention his forthcoming appearance but, alas, they did not.  :(

They were just being weird ... kinda making fun of interpretive dance, which never makes sense.  My point, though, was that Matt is still on the minds of the Adult Swim people, which is good for us in the States that are waiting so desparately for Matt Week.

If you look on the schedule, the 4th season airing of Futurama ends October 22. The week after that is not mentioned. Could the week of October 25 be Matt week? We'll soon find out.

Eyedol: The schedule doesn't run that far in advance ... we'll have to wait a few more days to see what they have on the schedule for that week.  But you do have an excellent theory.

Squeeks: Of course it was bad ... that was the point.  Never be afraid to be absurd.  I think you said something like that once before.

I'll forgive you since you remember something I said like a month ago.  ;)

Anyway, Eyedol's "theory" does sound something [as] might do.

That Matt dance brought a tear to my eye and sunshine to my day.

*runs off to choreograph her own interpretive dance*

*comes back a few hours later*

Anyway, I'm still sticking by my theory of Matt week being aired after the run of Futurama is done.

^I am aware of that. What I mean is that if Cartoon Network keeps airing the episodes in order, without interruptions, then you can assume it will end October 22.
Maybe that's why [as] aired "The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings" a few months back. At first, I was surprised, since it was just after or before the 2nd season ended. But now that I think of it, maybe they did it on purpose, since now everything works out fine. (For the 4th season to end October 22, and leaving the week of October 25 open.)
I hope Matt is able to do it. I am curious to see what his favorite episodes are. (It would be even better if he and David X. Cohen could do it.)

Sorry for the double post, but I think the following news (even if it's old) shows the possibility of:

Matt Groening Introductions the week of October 25. Think of it. [as] showed TDHAIP a few months back, and that was the only time they went out of order of broadcasting the episodes. And now, the 4th season airing ends October 22.
AND NOW, Futurama's timeslot appears to have moved back to 11:00p.m. (Eastern/Pacific). Coincidence? Maybe, or maybe not.
Most likely, it's all just a coincidence, but it is weird.
