Even though we're angry at Fox, we need to be polite. If we just rant and rave at them, they'll be more likely to disregard us completely. (Well...more completely, anyway.) -_-;;

I left the site up... but if anyone wants to go for another round we can probably work that out.  Also if anyone wants to be a dedicated webmaster for AFF and spearhead the project again, that'd be cool... cause I'm lazy and always tired... and also busy

No time for webmastering...I'll just stick to advertising and guilting the newbies into joining.  Good to see you at least vaguely interested again, winna.

Like what Nerd-o said, glad to see that you're at least a tiny bit interested in it again, winna. I would like to be a webmaster, but I'm super lazy busy.

Well, I lack the technological knowledge to be a webmistress, but I'll do my best to help ya out. Do we need a whole new site created, or just a new person to update the current one?

Apparently we're sick bastards:

Futurama, good but not that good.

It is of course a crime by the scum and filth who run Fox, canceling
Futurama. But nothing can justify adding to the world wide human pandemic of
animal, bird, insect, and fish abuse.

Anchovies happen to be sentient pain-feeing creatures. Fishing them is
murder. They are snatched from their natural habitat where they can breathe,
and left to slowly suffocate in agony on the deck of a boat. They scream
whilst they die, it is inaudible to human ears, but suffer they do.

Why is it not possible to protest against the cancellation of Futurama in a
non-violent way? A way which does not require the killing and cruelty of
uninvolved pain-feeling creatures. Anchovies are not a commodity like wheat
or cotton. They are just like any other creature with a central nervous
system, as you and I, they are capable of suffering. Tainting a protest to
Fox with death and suffering is really low.

If you had an idea which did not involve the exploitation and killing of
innocent beings, then I would have gladly and enthusiastically contributed
as I wish greatly to have Futurama reinstated. But there is no way I can
help promote this idea. It is sick.

As some of you know, I was the "official" reminder-email author for back when AFF was new.  Since then, I still get emails from time to time, because the reminder subscription feature was never removed.  Usually, they are of the mundane variety, asking if it's too late, or if there's anything else they could do.  This one, however, was a bit of a cracker.  Thoughts?

On this, I've been tossing around a few ideas of different campaigns to do ... maybe come this August, we could switch to "Eyes for Leela"?  We could all make something with those little plastic eyes -- the ones with the fake plastic pupils inside that move around (like what Amy put on Leela's forehead for the remake of Single Female Lawyer).  Just an idea ... thoughts on this?

I agree with changing what we send

Its gonna sound dumb, but I got yelled at for buying the anchovies and not letting my mom eat them

"These are 12 bucks a pound Amy, thats too expensive!"

While I agree that buying a tin or 2 wont kill ya, in the long run it might add up.  Plus, mom says they are good and Fox prolly just eats them or uses them to make ceaser dressing for salad.

The googly eye thing is good, really freaking cheap for a bag that will last you a year.  Someone could post a Leela pic, with  some messege and we could print them out and add the eye ball, and maybe something else.

I could take over being a webmistress, but I dont know html code, so I wouldnt know what to do :/

Zoidy227: That was either from PETA or someone mocking them.  It's their latest moronic crusade.  Fish with feelings...Jesus...even if they did have them, nobody would care.

Anyway, I'd personally prefer to stick with anchovies.  Kroger/Fiesta has them for quite cheap, and I've sorta gotten into a pattern going to buy them.

Slackit: I didn't know anyone in the real world actually liked anchovies...if it's that much of a problem for people, maybe we could switch to something cheaper/more pointless.

Someone should adverise in the Website forum for someone fluent in HTML to take over the website.  I may go do that myself, in fact.

haha, well apperently my mom likes them.  Im ok sending the anchovies still, so I could go either way  :)

However, some people do think a buck or so a month is a lot, so we need to look at this in an over all um...I cant think of the word, but we have to consider everythying

That...email. Agh.   :nono:
It's not like the anchovies wouldn't be killed and packaged anyway. Sheesh. At any rate, WE CANNOT LET FOX GET AHOLD OF THAT EMAIL. They'd use it against us and then there'd be no chance for redemption. Any press attention we'd then attract would be negative and we'd be up a creek without a paddle. (You know how the media only tells half of the story.) But, if one person had this qualm about our petition, perhaps we should change tactics. Though I have the feeling that googly-eyes won't quite have the same effect we desired. But who knows, maybe I'm just blowing this thing out of proportion.
At any rate, I'm going to continue sending anchovies until we hear otherwise. I've no problem with buying them every month, but if the price is the problem, then try to keep an eye out for the store-brand ones. They're usually cheaper.

That letter Zoidberg227 posted.
Holy crap. If I knew we were hurting animals then I would have stopped. You guys are sick!

As for the googly eyes thing, that would be kinda cool, and funny too. But I think the fish is still good. It's cheap over here.

I agree with T-Veronica, Fox  shouldn't find that letter. I don't see how they could though, unless they can get into ZB227's e-mail, or go here. But that's just dumb.

It's not that bad. I mean, I bet people from PETA, or whoever that was, eat fish. And that would go against their letter. I think that Fox wouldn't care about that letter. I mean, anchoives. It's just a joke type thing to get the attention. Maybe we could do a seven leaf clover thing for St. Patrick's Day? Or start sending letters to Fox with clovers and an eyeball in March to show from the show? Just thoughts.

Guys - I wouldnt worry about  the letter at all, Im certianly not killing the fish, so I dont feel bad about that.  And the whole part of them having a cns, well its so "primitive" its not agonizing pain.

Anyways, I think its a good idea if someone updates the website.  We need to pick a new date for a massive send in.  I think March would be good, long enough to advertise and get stuff ready, but short enough that people wont forget.

I do like the 7 leaf clover as well, we could send in both  :) hehe

Yeah, I was thinking of the 7 leaf clover thing cuz of reading about the anchoives and FG's diapers. This does suck that a show with more ratings than FG doesn't come back, and Futurama has an established creator behind it. But anyway, we have to be so creative, it'll get to them. How bout honey? Or beer? Or perhaps some other Futurama themed item?....or maybe just anchoive cases with the letter inside, or some sort of Futurama related item.

Anybody know the petition link?

Guys, guys...It's been done.  Look there for inspiration and reasons why some of the items you've been suggesting were ruled out, and why anchovies were selected in the first place.  (I'm not saying 'chovies are the only way, just explaining where the idea came from.)

Also, I think we can safely ignore that letter.
1) PETA, the guys who initiated it, are dumbasses.  And that's coming from pro-animal rights liberal.
2) Fox itself is the only news service in America if not the world moronic enough to actually use that ideology as a condemnation against another interest group (i.e. us.)
3) Fox won't do it because it's run by an maniacal archconservative that would probably like to skin every last member of PETA and turn them into moccasins.  And Bill O'Reilly would positively rip that letter apart.

P.S. Petitions are for recessive clones.

Nerd-o, I'm almost tempted to foward that letter to O'Reilly ... might get an interesting result.  But I won't.

If I find out that FOX has been in my email account, they'll find themselves on the receiving end (for once) of a lawsuit VERY fast.

By the way, if anchovies are sentient, then so is the mold strain that's not growing in my shower.

I doubt that Fox would hack into an email account. (Not due to lack of pure evil-ness, more to pure not-giving-a-shit-ness.) However, you might as well delete it, seeing as we now have a copy of it here on our board. But like I said, it probably really doesn't matter.
And of COURSE anchovies are sentient. Why, I had a glimpse of what one was thinking just the other day! And I quote: "Swim. Eat. Poop. Swim. Eat. Poo--HOLY CRAP! IT'S A...No, wait. Swim--" I mean, how could we eat these highly advanced creatures? Truly, we must be the epitome of evil.  (OK, I'm done being a smart-ass now.)

You can still send in letters to Fox if you so desire, but I don't think that the price of anchovies is unrealistic enough to change what we all send in as a whole. But letters alone should get the point across, too. For example, my mom was paying off her credit card to Rich's/Macy*s, and they (though no fault of OURS) lost her payment. They then called a friggin' collection agency to call and harrass my mom ON HER CELL PHONE when it wasn't even her fault! She, of course, was pissed. To put it mildly. She then wrote a detailed letter of complaint to the president of the company about how poorly they had treated her, and just recently received a letter of apology, along with a free gift card. The moral of this story? Letters, if intelligently written, can get the job done. Soapbox rant over. ^_^

And to find the address for Fox, you should look earlier in this thread. The first page should have a link to the AFF site, I think. That site will have all the info you'll need.

AFF-Anchoives For Fry
Sent in anchoives to Fox to get Futurama back(October 25).
Sent in anchoives to Fox everymonth on the 25.
PETA, or PETA inpersonators, sent letter saying we couldn't do it.
We're still sending in anchoives.
Anybody else want to add?

One tin of anchovies + postage is between $3 and 4 in America, usually.

This is the website, graciously hosted by my buddy winna at the Space Station Futurama domain, and contains the info on what to send (one or more tins of anchovies with our custom label attached to it,) and where to send it (Fox Broadcasting HQ.)  It also has the address and a form letter for Ms. Gail Berman, the fascist wench directly responsible for the show's hiatus.

That about covers it, except we try to get our anchovies to Fox on the 25th of every month (so send them the 22nd or 23rd,) and tell your friends.

Letters are good Ginger - but they dont always get noticed.  Thats why we send the anchovies - its a gimic, honestly it is.  But you need to send in something noticable, something - different.  Thats what we are, different, sending a boring letter without some of the Futurama Flare just wouldnt be ..... us

Ginger, we most certainly can be accused ... ever hear of tree-huggers?  I suppose we could send them in on recycled paper, and print them with reconstituted synthetic soy ink.  While we're at it, we might as well spend massive amounts of money to engineer and produce synthetic anchovies.

But seriously, I don't see any problems with sending canned fish in.  Keep it up!

I haven't looked back in awhile, but wasn't Gail Berman on our side, last I checked? Or are we simply to be polite to her in spite of what she's done? ...What has she done, by the way? Is she really the one responsible for the show's...hiatus?

Yeah, I think I'm going to revamp the site and put up more info.  As far as helping out, I'd really just need someone to help update the site, since it's already up as nerdo already posted the link.  I'll have some free time coming up soon and I've been feeling guilty about just letting it sit there.

I also received one of those "anchovies have feelings" letters too.  I'm not quite sure if it's serious or just a joke, but as far as I'm concerned, the anchovies were dead before we sent them (therefore I don't support you going out and killing your own anchovies for the campaign).  You can also send other stuff if you like, I think the cheaper anchovies, even sardines maybe or tunafish, would be the best way to go.  But officially, the campaign is still called AFF, because it's symbolic of what we were/are trying to do.  If anyone really needs to reach me, my email is nickssf@gmail.com (also it's in my profile)  ;)

Wait. Did these people really think we were actually going out and killing anchovies personally to send them in? *sigh* If they did, they certainly don't know much about Futurama's (geeky, therefore lazy) fanbase. And I mean lazy in a "there's-no-way-in-hell-I'd-go-outside-to-get-a-stupid-fish" way. We won't be lazy in our protest to Fox, though!  :D
