If they made another season of futurama, or I guess the trilogy, what do you think it should contain more of?

I think it should have a lot more character development. A lot of the Psuedo Main characters have almost no back story. Seeing something like Farnsworth's colledge days, or Hermes heyday as an olympic athelete, and espically something about Zapp Branigahn.

I'm a good ol fashioned Shipper so I gotta go with more Tearjerkers. If there was more "Sting" and "Jurassic Bark" type episodes in a new season, I'd die a happy man.

Amy and Leela should have touched each other more often. But on a less serious note...I said this somewhere else before. The Professor has made claims of sending several crews to his death. What would be interesting to me is a show through the Professor's eyes where he has various crews that die and in different episodes/seasons, he has different crews. I think that's how life works. It's an idea I would have liked to see.

In the words of Bender.

"Lets face it comedy's a dead artform. Now tragedy thats funny."

not sure if thats how it goes. But you get the point.

IT'S ALL FUNNY.  :laff:      :laff:

I think the biggest thing would be backstories...I don't really care about about the backstories of Farnsworth, Amy, etc (of course if they could explore them in fresh and funny ways, then by all means its still a good idea), but I felt that our principle characters-Fry, Leela, and Bender-needed to be more fleshed out in that sense.  Bender not so much, but with Fry especcially I think his backstory is fairly important for obvious reasons, plus the episodes they did on it were some of the best.  And for Leela some more understanding of her past as well would have been nice.

Other then that, I'd just want the show to stay the course...anything it could do to better itself is great of course, but there wasn't anything "wrong" (aside from rare quality inconsistancies through its run) that the show was doing toward the end.  If it stayed at 3/4 quality that would be fine with me.

For the movie something involving the backstory would actually in fact probably work really well....we'd all want the "she must be the other" comment explained anyway, and more backstory exposition (perhaps of both Fry and Leela) would work well in that regard.  Goddamnit, I want a movie more now....

I'm fairly positive there will be a movie. They seem to have the will to do a movie, according to Matt.

I say, keep it as funny as inhumanly possible. Team awesome should feel free to do all sorts of stories, as long as they keep the funny levels high. Which isn't to say I want humour at the expense of plot/chracters/emotion, I just want lots of it. Go funny.

I agree, more comedy. I love the rapid-fire jokes of Season 2, which by Season 4 become more forced and patchy. I wouldnt really want more backstories. They're my least fave kind of ep, I don't enjoy them as much...

Futurama is a comedy at heart, so I'd love more humour. Some jokes in Sesaon 4 just seemed so... forced.

I think the humor is sufficient.

No episode can be completly comedy oriented.

I'm gonna agree with Slack, Otis and Beamer. Season 2 holds some classic comedy with episodes crammed full of top draw stuff. Compare them with Season 4, where the quality in gags is somewhat diminished. And it's not that I disprove of episodes with character development, romance and tearjerking qualities (I enjoyed Jurrasic Bark personally), but I'd hate to think these elements were snuck into later seasons in place of the good gag writing. So my vote goes to More Comedy.

More fleshing out of background characters might be nice.  Some more exploration of the time between 2000 and 3000 could be fun as well.

Definitely more jokes, too, though.

I think the tear jerkyness is what makes Futurama Unique. There are cartoons funnier then futurama, but the drama and other factors is what makes it unique. Other-wise they should just go ahead and call it the simpsons in space.

The Simpsons had tear-jerker moments too...

I think Futurama needs more dry humour. Much more...

Nu uh... dry humour is subtle, quite often sarcastic and can be very funny...

More subtle humour wouldn't go amiss, indeed. You get the feeling ocassionally that DXC and co are desperate for every single person to get the joke on first viewing - if you listen to the commentary for Bender Should Not Be Allowed On TV, when DXC explains about the Fathers Against Rude Television joke, you'll get what I mean.

Oh yeah, that really annoyed me. I got it the first time they even said Fathers Against Rude Television.

Mind you, that was one of the few times a joke has really been spelled out. I just think dry and subtle humour has the ability to make me laugh a whole lot harder.

Dry humor always makes me feel weird when I watch futurama with a younger brother or friend. I always laugh at something they didn't catch, and I have to explain it to them, and they still can't understand the quality of the joke.

I'd love to see more of these character specific jokes:

Bender's cynisism, nastiness
Zapp's 'sexy' selfish comments
Zoidberg's hopeless efforts to get attention
Professee's intolerance
and maybe a little more Morbo!

more Morbo would definately be good  :)

The tearjerker episodes were never my favorites...although they were good episodes, I prefered the straight out funny ones better.

I prefer the funnier episodes, and I would like to see more of those. Some backstory on other characters, like how Zapp got to his position, Morbo and Linda, Hermes' limboing, and the professor and mom's past would be appreciated too. But overall, what got me into Futurama is the funny, so I'll go with that.

I, of course would like comdey, but it would be nice to her the back story of the characters.  Amy for example we don't know much about her, except from second hand sources.  She hasn't even had one flash back.  Also they need to resolve that whole 'Other' thing with Leela.

I would be kind of cool to see the back story of Zapp just to see his dad and William Shatner would be the perfect guy to do it.  I don't know how much this would add to the story but it would be awesome.

I thought the suggestion was just that Shatner would PLAY Zapp's father, in the same manner that Jerry Lewis played Professor Frink's father in last year's Simpsons Halloween Special.

What if the last season was made like a mini-series? Continious plot with a conclusive ending. As in, ending to the series. Period.

Then maybe stuff could happen like, Leela dying at the end for all the best reasons with a smirk on her face and both middle fingers extended, possibly while taking out the whole of Persious Omnicron 8 with her. Or, maybe everyone lives happily ever-after. Whatever. I'm sure if they closed things up mini-series style they'd probably do a good job.
