Although they are all good shows, I went for Blackadder, it was great, in particular "Blackadder goes Forth" the series ending was more moving than most dramas.

Tough choice, cause the brits make so many funny TV shows. I was inclined to pick Monty Python, but then I rembered my allegiance to red dwarf. Stupid CPTV doesen't show the funny stuff anymore.

Where's Bottom (Or Young Ones if you're feeling retro)? Bottom is the best comedy show ever to exist before or since.

oops! I forgot bottom and the young ones. there is too many of them. Dinner ladies is a good comedy, and although I hate Mr bean, ( In my opinion, it was a very bad point in rowan atkinsons carrer) I put it up there anyway, to see who liked it. i vote monty pythons flying circus, although red dwarf and fawlty towers run vey close to them.

As leader of PISS, it is my duty to point out that Father Ted is Irish and not British!!! Ireland has not been part of Britain for eighty years and it's annoying to see them try to take credit for Irish talent simply because we're next door.

OK, rant over. I like British comedies and I vote Blackadder. Although I see an opening for a thread 'Best Classic British Comedy', but I'll let someone who knows more about them than I do start it.

holly: i know father ted is irish and not british  :) But I thought I would include it anyway, because its a good show, and it appears to be doing better than any of the britcoms.

I've never seen Father Ted. My knowledge of Britcoms is limited to what I see on PBS (and to a lesser extent, Comedy Central).

it's quite funny. It works most well for catholics, as it's a show about 3 priests.

I was surprised it went down so well abroad, I didn't think foreigners would appreciate a lot of the anti-Church stuff in there. I'm glad it's done well, it deserved it, and Ireland doesn't look like producing any more good comedy anytime soon. . .
Glad your intentions were pure, Rach!  :D

I just noticed that Father Ted airs here on Ch. 21 at 9:30 Fridays. Unfortunately, that puts it opposite Farscape.

Kryters: record father ted. Or if you are recording farscape series, then watch Father Ted and watch farscape later. Or if you can't wait for farscape get a friend or relative to tape it for you. If you hve no VCR, jump off a bridge  :)
Chrissy: If you don't know any of them, you could have picked the 'I don't know' option.

I guess they weren't shown in Australia, or in the case of Benny Hill not recently, he hasn't been repeated on UK TV in years.
