What is his first name already? CGEF says it's John but I've never heard it in the show. Have I missed something or what?

The way they name some characters in that show is weird. Fry, Leela, Farnsworth and Zoidberg are better known by their last names.

I've heard that Leela might be her first name and Toronga is her family name.

I'm sure Zoidy's first name (John) will pop up in a future episode, after all Kif's fluid filled bladders was mentioned in "Where The Buggalo Roam".

It's on the official website. Check out the bios. Also, it's Turanga, not Toronga.

Actually, it has. Look at the beginning of "That's Lobstertainment" and you'll see he's introduced as Bobcat Zoidberg. Course, that may have just been the name the Trisolian comic gave him, but until I get a better source, that's what I'm going with.

I think Horatio would be good name for him. Or Zebedee. Or possibly Barney.

Sweet zombie Jesus! FrysGIRL is not only correct, FrysGIRL actually went to a FOX website, AND, found something of value on a FOX website. Kudos!

(Honestly, the character bios--still the only thing on the site, thanks, FOX--have a few gems. One of Amy's hobbies is "Being-John-Malkoviching.&quot ;)

I can do a mean imatation of Kif in that scene. I did it today without thinking about it, I was replaying the episode in my head because I was bored. (I was also at work, refereeing hockey. I've discovered I can skate, make calls, and mentally watch futurama all at once) Now THATS talent.

Zoidbrg's first name may be mentioned in "A Taste of Freedom" (I'm just conjecturing) or the other Zoidberg-heavy episode of the 4ACV block (forgot its name).

Actually, now I look at the episode guide and I can't find the other zoidberg-heavy episode. Who knows what I was thinking about.

"Bobcat Zoidberg" is a joke on a comedian known as "Bobcat Goldthwait." It isn't Zoidberg's real first name.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, all this name-talk reminded me of a quote.

Linda: ...and the discoverer of popplers, captain Toronga Leela.
Fry: Toronga?
Amy: That's her name, Philip.
Bender: Philip?!?

I'll solve this!

It was mentioned on 'A Taste Of Freedom', which when this thread was created hadn't been shown yet, so Leandro was right all along.

It was written down, I believe.  It definately was in an episode.  Maybe The Series Has Landed? I know it was mentioned somewhere for sure.

It was in "30% Iron Chef," on the "confession" letter.

And yes, "Turanga" is her family name while "Leela" is her personal name: Turanga is to Fry as Leela is to Philip.

That entire "word" was the speech impediment if you didn't catch it.
Like most alien races in Futurama, Decapodians speak english for some odd reason.

While we're on the subject of those middle letters, anyone know what Fry's J is? And is it the same as the professor's?

edit:
Given they have a meaning. I've never understood the point with silly middle names...

David Zoidberg.

Something about Zoidberg, is that some sort of futuristic Jewish name?

Pfft. Michaels. Always the vain ones   :p

And Zoidberg comes from a videogame David X. Cohen programmed in high school called "Zoid". They just added the "-berg" for the Jewishness.

I'd bet anything that the J stands for Jay, just like Homer Simpson.
