but remember that Fry is an "outsider". He looks the world in another perspective and has some new (old) ideas. a good example is that time when he suggested that garbage is garbage and Poopenmeyer said that garbage isn't a thing that you can find just lying around. and of course the TV has a big influence too. but as we all know, the writers of futurama decide who shall come up with the idea of saving the Earth. Usually an "outsider" (like Fry), or one of the main characters.

Speaking of stupidity... I don't think Zoidberg is stupid. He rules =) But recently I really began to HATE Homer Simpson. He seems dumber and dumber each season, and it's not that funny anymore.
Fry is allowed to be stupid =)
And yes, usually Fry always saves Earth. Remember the "Single Female Lawyer"? Well, maybe with little help from his friends.

Troy McClure said the following in the 138th Ep. Spectacuar. Professor Lawrence Pierce of the University of Chicago writes, "I think Homer gets stupider every year." That's not a question, Professor, but we'll let the viewers judge for themselves. It's like Mr. Pierce freakin' jinxed the whole show. I should go talk to him, if he really is in my college.

Hey, there is a differemce between Fry's stupidity and Homer's. While I do agree with Winna. Homer hasn't been to work in years and the kids don't go to school much anymore. The plots are winding down and Homer's intelligence seems to reflect that. Fry's stupidity is a result of naviety. The show is young and full of ideas, plus I like Fry.

Fry's brain took a spark after the shock of being in 3002. And Homer's just Homer, and he's really really stupid, and sometimes unbearable. Like from "Make Room for Lisa"... Lisa: Rrgh! I just want to study. Homer: That's no fun. Lisa: It is to me. Homer: No it's not. Now that's unthoughtfulness, thankfully for only a couple episodes. But this thread is about stupidity. .............. gotta go! [runs off into the wilderness and transforms into a man in a loincloth!]

I just hope Fry doesn't do a Homer and go all dumb in later seasons.
