Season 1 isn't even out until Monday, but I just found out that season 2 will be out before Christmas - or Xmas, even. No exact date just yet, but Fox definitely has it down for fourth quarter 2002.

'Xmas Story', 'Why Must I Be A Crustacean In Love' and 'Put Your Head On My Shoulder' - three of the best episodes ever all in one lovely boxset. Yay!   :D

I wonder at what price that will come then, must be a big box  :) Thanks for the info, I'll put it (credited) on CGEF too.

Dang, and i kinda just figured not to buy a DVD player, stop teasing me FOX, will ya?

Cool, that is very good news and I can't wait to get that chunky box full of DVDs into my collection. Does anyone know if it will include up to "Cryonic Woman" or wether it will only include up to "AOI 1"?

Thats great, but i wonder if its more expensive than the season 1 one because it have more in, 6 more. Also the extras probably wont be as good as Season 1 as it was the very first season, but it is still good news!

It really should be up to cryonic cause they also used the production season for the first set.

But as I said on CGEF, I wonder why they are doing this. This sure will lower the price stations around europe will pay for it and they piss off the americans if they have most of the show out on DVD here years before Season 1 is going to be released in USA/Canada.

Well lets hope it does include up to "Cryonic Woman", the only thing that could be bad is if FOX don't finish airing the remaining season 3 eps before it should be put onto DVD, this means season 3 on DVD could be delayed if done via production codes.

I expect some season 4 episodes will air before all of the remaining season 3 episodes air because there is a valintine special in season 4. Unless the remaining season 3 episodes air before valintines day which isn't going to happen, then the end of season 3 and the begining of season 4 will be jumbled up.

Got to agree with Payndz on those eps, although I really want to see my fave 7 mins of Futurama in near perfect clarity .. the middle section of AOI1

That is really good news. The 2ACV batch had some of the best episodes ever. I agree on "X-mas Story", "Why Must I..." and "AOI I", they were great episodes. I'll also include "A Head in the Polls", "The Problem with Popplers" and "War is the H-word"

I'm pretty sure they'll continue to release them in production seasons. Then again the way they are airing episodes right now, that would mean that a season 3 DVD/VHS set is 1 year or 2 further into the future, at least.

But doesn't the divisions in FOX talk with eachother? The sales division obviously sees Futurama as a product good enough to sell lots of DVD/VHS', but the TV-division has a rather more indifferent attitude to the show.

Great news!
I have to question what mArc said about the syndication cos they have already done the same thing with Angel.
And they are realeasing new seasons of them (and Buffy) each 4 or 5 months
I don't think it's as bad as it looks

Here's the scoop people, I was in my friendly local Australian, (for those unfamiliar with hangman) DVD retailer, and I asked when Futurama would be out in Australia. He told me 'Season 1 in April, Season 2 in June/July'

Well... If Season 1 is coming out here a couple months after it is in the UK, then season 2 should be the same, which means we could be looking at season 2 DVD UK release in like March!

Will these DVDs be available in the US? I don't believe American DVD players are compatible with European DVDs due to NTSC standards. Any news for a US release on any of the sets?

ntsc is just one problem, in addition the DVDs have region codes which stop them from playing outside of Europe, middle east or Japan. US ... maybe in a few years.

there are region code free dvd players available (yakamichi sells some i think). you can play european dvds in there too. the question is: is it worth to buy a new dvd player for the futurama dvds?

I really doubt Futurama seaosn two will be out in a few months. Around the time of release of the Simpsons season one, there was a very strong rumour that season two would be out for Christmas. Of course, it never surfaced. I think we'll see season two in six to nine months from now.

Don't let your hearts rule your heads, I think The Skoot is wright. FOX are going to want to see the sales figures before plunging into another season so soon.

I think that regardless of whether Season Two ever comes out on DVD, FOX should all be shot. Last night I sent them a strongly worded email.

Hey it might happen, it might not. But my release dates aren't just rumor, they're a date that this shop I went to must have gotten from somewhere reliable. The guy also gave me and exact day, but I can't remember it

Shop keepers like to make up stuff like release dates so you come back and ask for it. They count on the "while I'm here" effect. Plus they don't want to seem unknowing. I think a release in December is more likely as it would be roughly a year per season then.
