Just found this one and thought it was really well done. Mildy funny too. The only one who seems to be a good character match is Leela.

Man, it has just been nipple this and nipple that all over this board lately. And by this board I mean the two threads this was posted in.

I actually really like this picture, though. Simple, yet elegant with boobies lots of emotion. Captures the scene boobies quite well.

I like that picture a lot... it looks like you really captured something, and the forms of the two people are made pretty well... also, it's shades of grey, black, and white... which is always awesome.

I'm not a huge fan of the nipples, and I know that's just my opinion, but I feel it detracts from the piece. I'm also aware that nipples are natural and beautiful in their own way, but I like people with clothes on that cover most everything up.

I agree with winna that sometimes the clothed body can be more alluring, because sometimes less is more!

Also I was very pleased with Coldangels rendition of my Fry and Leela scene, this is very close to the essence / emotional nature of the scenario I envisaged in my minds eye. I dont believe the imagery was unduly erotic, just very raw and natural, just as i had imagined.

And I agree with you gaschief, that picture pretty much embodies what I think you were going for... the others were pretty good too, but I certainly like the poses in coldy's... I was just nitpicking about the nipples because I do that...

Coldy, I adore that pic - and I don't see it as even accidentally erotic. It's wonderfully emotional and evocative and very nicely done

My only nitpick (because I don't have a wife) is her near-side knee. For a while I was not sure what it was. Perhaps with a little more sculpturing, maybe make it longer... I mean once I realised what it was it was blatantly obvious but it doesn't quite sit right. Gah, anyway, post it on dA so I can go fave it!

No, no, no, friend y'got it all wrong:

According to some friends of mine while we were in Russia there was a TV show which was basically that.

Cheers for the comments by the way guys - really glad you liked the pic Flounder

That's one of the pictures of yours I like the best coldy... You seem to think it's subpar, especially considering the amount of time it took you. Considering your recent confession that you don't have time to work on a piece for as much as you used to, might I suggest that you try speed creating things in the heat of an idea for the foreseeable future when the time strikes you so? If the piece isn't good enough, but it has enough validity, you could always go back later and do a more fleshed out piece. This would also probably make your skills sharper in the department.... Just a friendly suggestion.

Yeah, ta.
I think part of my problem of late is that I've really come to despise my own drawing style in much the same way as one hates the sound of their own voice when it's played back to them. It's illogical and all, but I can't seem to get past it. My drawings piss me off, but I can't change my style.

Some people would adamentally disagree with you on that.

As far as I can tell, things of these nature are a skill... some people have natural ability, but what separates the good from the mediocre is practice. I think you've got that... your portfolio seems nicely stuffed... trying something new for awhile might just... give you new ideas... and new perspectives.

It's a simple matter.... people who understand something better realize what greatness is... they aspire to achieve it, and they see flaws... they see the flaws very clearly and it's irritating, they're striving to achieve greatness, and the flaws are right there... it's shit... it's not perfect...

People who don't understand, can make something and overlook the flaws, they're happy that they produced anything at all.

I've heard it might be nice to live through life mentally retarded naive of all the things that wrong or bad.... delusionally happy.

That last sentence is very poignant winna. I have often thought of that notion personally, being one of these individuals, perhaps like a lot of us here, plagued with perpetual doubts about self, humanity, life, etc,etc on the back of a tendency to constantly think and analyse things to death!

What bliss it would be just to be indifferent to the eternal quandries that life seems to through up!

There was a really interesting episode of that doctor show 'house' the other night, one of the few TV shows I regularly watch. The patient that week was a self destructive nihilistic character who wrote atonal punk music and took drugs all the time. It was interesting to see all the conflicting feelings this character induced in the various members of the team.
There was one scene were this female doctor who was repulsed by his lifestyle spoke with him, and asked him 'what it was like', he basically spoke about how nothing mattered to him, so there was nothing he could regret about his life. It was sad but also a very thought provoking notion.

Well, at the end of Brave New World, the "Savage" hangs himself because he realizes he can't possibly continue to exist in an environment such as the world has become.

Now that more calls to mind Flowers for Algernon.
One of the themes of it, anyway.
(Whether it is better to go through life unaware, or be intelligent but disillusioned and bitter).

coldy: about changing style, what about those sketches you did "by Nibbler", that is, the ones Nibbler supposedly drew, for BIOTB? Those were different.

Flowers for Algernon is brilliant! The diary writing style as the main character in the experiment changes from a child-like man of idiot-level intelligence to a genius is plain inspired.

@Coldy- Your art is wonderful! It always makes my days a little brighter to see one of your pictures appear on the site. I agree that most artists hate their own stuff. I always see flaws in my stuff and would never call myself an artist. Even the brochures I help produce at work I am never happy with them. I actually like your style very much, and I think you have influenced a lot of fan artists here- I am already thinking of your images as being the most the way I would imagine the cast as non-Groening characters. Whatever you decide to do with changing art styles, have fun with it!

Actually I forget what Bernard did at the end, he as sort of the main character as well! I need to read that book again, it's an easy book to read as well but so poignant.

I don't know if any of you read the follow up work Brave New world revisited, here parallels were drawn between Huxelys vision and the way western society seems to be heading. It's a bit bleak but a very interesting read.

Going back to the core of this argument, clearly the right thing to do is NOT to live in delusional happiness AKA homer simpson style oblivious to all the inherent suffering in life, but at times it is very very difficult and the appeal of 'a gramme is better than a damn' is most alluring, wrong as it is. Ideologically Iam probably conflicted between these two extreme views of humanity, if this makes any sense!

KM: I never read that book either, will need to look it up.

It was in one of the episodes... Upon becoming intelligent he started acting in a condescending way with his family and only after having a long talk with his daughter Lisa, whom he clearly cherishes, he deliberately made himself stupid again for the love of his family.

Homer is essentially a good guy, but I dont believe he think about the meaning of things or the reasons for his actions, let alone the consequences. He does have an inherent lamb like goodness that I guess is admirable in the face of his ignorant stupid and selfish side.

The choice to reference homer is more the general idea of what homer's character parodies, i.e. the ignorance of the common man.
