It's great to see so many people with so many great pieces of work here. Don't ever leave us, please I can't draw to save my life, at least from memory, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate those that can eitherThis one I posted on another topic on Peel. ColdAngel_1 can relate This was from deviantart.com, ....well, most of the artwork I found was from deviantart.com lol (Fryward_Scissorhands)

Great stuff, love the Final Fantasy one Nice work RS 2thou and Venus - really nice. I thought the Looney Tunes pic was fantastic, but then I read your comments and now I can look at Tweety without bursting into laughter. Sorry FordMustang I have to say there's something I really like about your pics. Its a nice style but the pictures are even nicer - lot of thought and detail and nice colouring. While I'm here I thought I'd include a quick one I did recently - I know it's not Futurama but it's something... <--Clicky Yeah, if you're not into Formula One then some explanations in order... ... Hope you likes!

I like your drawing, Zed 85. I like the way you have done the black and white image against the colorful backgrounds. I also like it when people who are talented but also genuinely nice people are recognized in art. Nice job!Thank you also for your kind comments about my style. It really was so fun to read your words. I hope someday to be able to do canon (Groening) style someday, but so far not much luck. This is the reaction I get from the Planet Express crew when I try to draw them in canon style. (Rough sketch I did at work during lunch break)

Great stuff It's my pleasure, Fordmustang, and cheers in return for your comments I said previously I didn't have any Futurama art - and I meant it - then I had a very sudden impulse and this is what happened (also, sometimes it's fun not to draw in canon I guess ) <--Clicky Thoughts?

Leela actually looks quite nice. You've got the nose figured perfectly. You know, the whole thing reminds me of those portraits they hang on the walls at Cracker Barrels.

@Archonix- thanks for that little comment on my crap art. I just have now put it in color and hope to download- then all can see why Fry is my favorite character- he is kind of a younger, male version of me. @ Zed- Wow, Zed... you have some really amazing 3-D talent there! Thanks for sharing! I am Impressed! I actually like what people draw that is not in Canon. I like the Canon art very much, but Futurama is flexible enough to be open to other styles. Even the Canon fan artists every once in a while try something different- basically we all love sll styles here, as long as it is honoring Futurama. I sure also hope I see some of your great images honoring some of the guys on the show... you know us gals, we like to get some beefcake every now and then... :-)

Cheers very much for the comments everyone! I was worried I had her nose slightly too small to be honest, glad you like it Xanfor @FordMustang: I may get round to doing some male versions (actually the "beefcake" has given me an idea for a pic ) but I actually find realisticising Fry quite daunting actually But we'll see @Coldangel: Proof that France does have a redeeming quality and you've honneur'd it wonderfully That last bit was terrible, sorry

@ Coldy- I love the Asterix and Obelix drawings! That is still one of my favorite series. I like how you have interpreted them. Nice to see there are still good A and O fans. BTW, I admire how the translators do such a good job keeping the humor across language and culture barriers. I've wound up reading some of these comics in three languages (but not at the same time) and the translations are great. Wonder when the alienese versions will be out?[This message has been edited by FordMustang (edited 05-13-2008).]

@ Zed - Amy looks _very_ good. Most impressed by highlighting and hair, very realistic and very... tactile, I think. You can kind of see it being ruffled by a breeze. I accept I deserve to be shot in the face for this, but I think you may have overdone the the shading on Amy's nose/cheeks - adds a few years to her...?Leela's always going to be hard to do in an un-toony way, but this is a really good go at it! Hair and skin are great, excellent technique, and you've noted the ear thing. The only other nitpick I'd risk getting stabbed in the head for is the shadow over her eyelid - more specifically the line; it looks a bit too harsh, too great a contrast for an eyeball that size, so it doesn't work as well as it might. How long did it take to do the work around her lips (and the lips themselves)? :O Highly impressive, was well worth it, however long! @ Coldy: I love you. I _was_ Obelix when I was at primary school, I have to join Archonix and drag out my old comicbooks...

I think myself you did a great job with the Asterix and Obelix image! You should keep up with those images! Many people do Simpsons images, but there are not as many who honor Asterix and Obelix- and these guys deserve lots of fan art. I like what you did and really want to see more A and O images.

What gets me most about Zed's drawings are the expressions on their faces... you have to wonder what they're thinking about at that instant...Amy seems reminiscing... about something she cared for... someone possibly, very far away at the moment... And Leela seems caught off guard in a sad kind of way by someone who just tried to catch her attention... still fairly emotionless, possibly sad over the day's end... Was that all digital? Or is it pencil or charcoal or some other medium Zed?

Yes, she looks somewhat pensive. I like that particular realistic depiction of her very much; it's very nicely done.

Um, hi.Heres's that workplace cafeteria doodle of Fry hating my Groening canon art done in color. The cat, by the way, is real. She contrbuted to this by dumping over a glass of water onto the picture because I was not paying attention to her Highness at the time.

@FordMustang - Sweet! XD Your cat reminds me of my dog. I love pets and how we think they're silly/dumb when they seek our attention and "accidentally" knock something over step on the wrong thing. They know exactly what they're doing!@Coldy - to be honest I don't really see where any fault may be lurking. If there was anything I thought about when I first looked at it I thought Oblix could have looked more...gleeful? Not sure how to put it... @Marcus - why do you assume that criticising my work equates to putting your head on the block? Well anyway, thanks for the wonderful comments *pauses, poke's Marcus' corpse with a stick* Hmm, well anyway, yes, thing is though once you said that about the cheeks I couldn't fail to not disagree with you. I also took on board what you said about Leela's eye - truth of the matter was it wasn't so much a shadow as a skin fold, but yes, I have since lessened it. Anyway, I've done a quick new version of Amy - in colour now too! I'm sort of now of the persusasion that I've broken her somewhere - something now looks off about her appearance. Thoughts?

@Winna/km73 - cheers! I always enjoy people looking so indepth into my pictures. I guess I like going for pensive and thoughtful - I like it as an emotion and I guess it really does provoke the viewer to think about the piece longer than perhaps usual. But sometimes it's because I can't draw smiley people. Other times it's not always intentional, either a "happy coincidence" or "oh, right? Um...oh dear..."Cheers very much all the same! Sadly it's all digital, BTW. Though the style is probably where I'm at my best with traditional media - I probably could recreate that on paper, but...Photoshop is easier and more forgiving... (Sorry for the double post, but it seems according to my internet provider I was far too cool to write all that in a single post) Or more precisely it was the Vital Security Proxy!!!TM telling me it was vitally important that I couldn't load the gorram page! Gnrrr

Ok that's both distubingly realistic and freakishly good at the same time. As far as the Leela one is concerned I think you got it perfectly with that other one you did a while ago. Can't find the picture but it's the reletively recent on with the close up of her face.

@Zed95, your recent Amy artwork blows me away... it is just beautiful, what else can I say? Thanks for sharing. Your artwork adds something extra special to the Futurama community! I sure want to see more of your stuff! And for your pet comment, how true! My cats are always waking me up in time for work so I never need to set the alarm clock- they just gently tap my face each morning and give one of those plaintive squeaks and I am up 2-3 minutes before the alarm goes off. Those cats know their stuff! The amazing thing is they seem to oddly know weekends so they wake me up later to feed them on Saturdays and Sundays... I say there is some Nibbolnian good thing going on there with our pets. Here another older image I made from the beginning of "A Flight to Rememner" - this is heavily inspired by Ramon51's "Leela Diaries" on the Futurama Madhouse Site. He gave a great writing of how our three heroes got off the cannibal planet with their bodies- and honor- intact. Nice stuff! [This message has been edited by FordMustang (edited 05-14-2008).]

I don't honestly see how that's sad... I still believe the skill shows itself through the work. I figured most of your work was digital, but I honestly couldn't tell. They're some of my more favorite "life like" versions of the characters.

@Frisco17 - Cheers very much! :D For Leela, do you mean this one? Thanks muchly if so - I still wanted to go for a slightly more realistic version though.@FordMustang - Thank you! I love your new pic, you can really see a lot of emotion in it - each has his (or her) own. I particularly like how both Fry and Leela look really shaken but Bender looks more hacked-off than anything :p Have you seen that animation about the cat trying to wake up the owner BTW? ;) @Coldy - Wow, cheers! Wasn't my intention to make you all look like schmucks! ^^; Actually the coloured version is not all that much beyond the monochrome version. Basically, following a technique demonstrated here - scroll down to find "Shadowmap" basically I use the monochrome as the "shadowmap" and have three layers on top, color>overlay>soft light. Have to experiment with it, but I think it works really well :) @tyraniak: ta! ^^ @Winna: Cheers very much :) I guess it's just me, I know that I can't for the life of me use real paints very well so I will always feel that things like the undo button and layer modes save my skin. @km - cheers! :) quote: Originally posted by Flounder in Archonix's thread but I'm posting it here because that's not my art thread: Hey, any picture with Leela in it is OK by me ;)If you wanted to, say, dress Leela in coveralls and drape her across a carrier's main propulsion turbine, I could draw you a picture of the turbine...but then I'd have to kill you :D Just Kidding!
