I've liked your stuff too, Zed, ever since I saw your Spitfire picture on another recent thread. Whatever happened to TheVoices, anyway? That was one talented dude.

It's an all right F-16 but if it's the Marines then it should be a Jump Jet or a Hornet. http://usmilitary.about.com/library/milinfo/marinefacts/blfaircraft.htm

Arch, you remind me of a young Coldangel. When he started here, his work was already good. Marcus sent him some software and hints and now his work and style is some of the best around. You're following his lead - you're consistantly improving. Take it as a compliment - it's meant as such. I like Coldy's style because it's different from the Groening style and it makes the characters more 'human'. I like your style because you accent Leela's main atributes (Her eye and hair, you perverted jackasses!) As much as nostalgia tells me that The Voices and FemJesse were two of the best on the site, I also have to realize that the 'new' artists like Coldangel and you are just as good as when they started and will be spoke of in such hushed, reverent tones as them in a few years. As for our own Zed 85, aka Douglas Hillard, I'd like to see an occasional submission from him also. Go with the MiG-29 Fulcrum, seems to fit her for some reason. The F-16 seems more....Fryish, not sure why. Anyway whenever you decide what plane to use you have to collor it. Frisco demands it!! quote: Originally posted by Xanfor: The F-22 pwns the F-16.I should know. I saw one yesterday. Just FYI...

Mig-29? No, it isn't. May be the only military plane that has killed more people at airshows than in combat. [This message has been edited by futz (edited 02-24-2008).]

The Aircraft in that picture is an Su-27 Flanker.Su-27 This is a MiG-29 And before anybody says anything, this is on-topic because we're discussing what should be in Archonix's picture. [This message has been edited by Frisco17 (edited 02-24-2008).]

Nah, it's like Godwin's law, or the law of thermodynamics. Inevitable. And the law.Frisco, it's generally hard to tell what model of plane you're looking at when it's buried up to the intakes in spectators.

Different shape air intake Completely different tail section (engines, vertical stabilisers, location of tail wing and the fact that there are fins underneath) Different camo pattern - blues much more common on a Sukhoi than a MiG Sukhois in general are considerably larger than the MiG-29 (compare size to the crowd) Could point out some more but won't.Sorry - former aircraft recognition champion and MiG-29 fancier speaking there Plus that's probably the most horrific image of the Lvov disaster that exists (really enjoyed seeing it again BTW, thanks muchly..). I'm surprised you found it without seeing the words "Su-27" mentioned again and again, futz. ...
I'm in a really pinickety/vitriolic mood this morning, sorry everyone

Despite the crashes, I still consider a Su-27 or variant a better match for Leela. Graceful, powerful, and she wouldn't hesitate to kick your ass.I posted some links to a few pix of the Su-30MK and MKI variants here if you're interested.

Indeed. quote: Originally posted by Zed 85: Perhaps I should draw Fry with the Fulcrum.
I still see Fry as more of a Falcon guy. Not to mention the fact that he probably would never go near a Russian plane considering his upbringing. "All the way back to minuteman Yancy Fry, who blasted commies in the American Revolution!"

Leela would claim this conversation to be petty and beside the point and then she would correct everyone on some obscure point of 21st century military aviation. I picture her standing in her form fitting flight suit, rolling her eye in a pronounced affectation of superiority and disgust while a gaggle of air show nerds argue all about her. Also, the F-22 would kick all their asses before any of them knew it was there. Actually, we're so close to pilotless drones taking the air combat role now that I have difficulty with Leela showing interest in something so primitive as a jet. ok, throw me in with the other air show nerds... It was just that "Semper Fi" is more appropriate with some aircraft types than others. Using a Mig with it is sort of like putting "Rule Britainia" under a pic of a U-Boat.[This message has been edited by futz (edited 02-25-2008).]

Well I meant that in the context of matching characters to Russian aircraft in particular (...which I do a lot...). I actually view Fry as a Tomcat person for some reason. @HipNoJoe: The F-22 is fugly and it cheats its way to success! Bah! Besides, enemy air forces can negate that advantage if they just use better tactics. Several years ago in a war game the RAF mopped the floor with their USAF counterparts simply because they approached the sitation knowing they were at an disadvantage and thought their way around it. A pair of Jaguars - anything but stealthy - managed to slip by the enemy fighter screen and eliminate the US AWAC (theoretically) simply through clever flying. ...Archonix we're hijacking your thread. So sorry! If needs be I'll draw Leela with the Flanker...

You're on! Okay, Leela with a Flanker, Fry with a Tomcat and then a pic of Fulcrum because I bloody feel like it!
