Hey people,
After months of work, we've finally managed to finish the demo of "FryScape: Episode I" futurama adventure game.
I'd like to thank anyone who is helping or helped the project and don't forget that we still have a long road ahead of us to finish the game. This demo is only the first room in the game without many things to do, just to give the feel of the game.

We would appriciate all your comments and if anyone wants to assist us, we always need help!

Enjoy.

Worked for me.

Idan, that's the best game I've played in the last three hours.  Congratulations, and good luck with the full version.

What, me?  Help?  With something not in stupid shitty Java?  Hahahahaha!

Looks good so far, taking in consideration that I can't get out of the bridge.  Can't wait to see some more!

Also, what do you need help with?  I know nothing about computer programming and animation, I can't draw for squat, and you don't want to drink my coffe ... but surely there's something I can do.

El Zilcho, I got the empty zip when I tried to just open it, but it worked fine when I saved it instead, so try that.

Idan, that reminds me. The 'team leader' of your project, 'Alexei', hasn't e-mailed me back about the voice work. Is he still the project leader and all later voice work should be sent to him or somebody else?
I'll check out the demo when I get home, on a public computer at the moment.

VERY nice, so far! I love the warning, and the captions are hilarious.  :laff:

I haven't been on the forum because every time I try to get on, it gives me a 404...  :hmpf:

Ahh So far so good. The animation is great. teh only problem i had personally is that the set of the game did not seem to like me using a tablet so I had to dig out a normal mousr. never the less i can't wait for the finished version.

Well, Alexei is still the project leader, I just gave a last push to finish the demo since I know the most around the game's source. Alexei is currently not at home, and has problems with his home computer, so that is why you didn't get a reply up until now. You should contact him for anything.

AGS I do believe. I don't know, I'm just eyecandy, really...  :p
Anyway, I hate to toot our collective horn, but the demo looks pretty damn good. I didn't look, but I was unable to find any bugs. Not even spiders! Anyway, good work on everything, workmates. I like the jokes, you scriptwriters roxx0rz. And the music is also cool... 0rz. I hope to see you all soon for tea. We did schedule a tea party, right? Meh.

If there is a possibility to try and fix the reason why some people can't run it, we'll need more than just "It doesn't work". When doesn't it work? does it give an error? some details, porfavor. (sp?)

Jankbot, follow these instructions exactly and it WILL work:

1. Click on the link below Direct Link:

2. Save it to the folder you want the game in

3. The download should begin.

4. After it is done, click on the winzip file you downloaded, and the Winzip screen should come up. If you don't have winzip, download it here: http://www.winzip.com/downwzeval.htm

5. Follow the instructions, and you should be able to unzip the file.

6. Click on the game icon in the folder you unzipped it to, and have fun!

BTW - Did you know? There are 21 different "quit lines" in the demo, whenever you want to quit one of those lines will come up and ask you if you are sure. Make sure to check them all!

ALSO - there are some hidden stuff in the demo (it is a tribute to Futurama, after all). Anyone found them?

Useless information:

In the past 36 hours, the demo has been downloaded roughly 450 times, totalling about 7 GB of traffic to my poor, poor webserver. A bit more than what I had originally expected, I must say, but we really appreciate the interest.  :)

Idan, how do I quit once I've started a game?  I wasn't able to figure that out (not to say I really tried all that hard...).  Also, you misspelled "chutzpah" in one of the quit lines.  One more thing ... in the opening sequence, can you slow the Planet Express ship down for its flyby?  I feel it goes a little too fast, and seems a bit rushed.

(edit):
Well, it seems the menu bar at the top appears when I move the cursor up there ... it didn't do that before, as I recall.  Also, there's music that I don't remember from the first time I played it.  Strange.  Finally, there should be an option from the game menu to exit to the main menu, instead of exiting altogether.

I don't want to sound like I'm nitpicking or anything, just making a few suggestions.

Zoidberg227, thank you for your feedback. That is exactly what we want.
About Chutzpah, since this is a hebrew word, you can't really misspell it (just like there are several ways to write "music" in hebrew without misspelling it).

About the quit to menu, this is something that will defenitly be considered. There really is no reason to return to the menu after you've started the game, since everything but the credits is available from in-game (and that would be available on the full game). Will think about it, though.

There isn't one music track on the in-game part of the demo, but 2, both done by JBerges!

Last, the opening movie is a temporary one for the demo. The full game will feature a different, longer and much better movie.

Very Very Impressive.
I'd love to get a hold of a copy of the two music tracks after 2:36 in the music.vox file... I'd love to add them to my playlist

EDIT: by the way, hitting esc to bring up that menu would be a handy hotkey.

"Wooh, someone noticed the music! If you want the music tracks so far, become a member on the game forums and request them.

I'll link you to the uploaded Mp3 files from there. While you're there, sign up to help make the game! Please? "

Downloaded it yesterday, and I can safely say I enjoyed it. A few nitpicks though, mostly spelling:
- You spelt 'suppository' wrong in one of Farnsworth's quit lines.
- In one of Zapps quitting lines, there's no capital 'H' in 'How'.
- In 'Why, of course!' for one of Farnsworth's lines, there's no space between them
- There's no capital in 'Where' when Zoidberg says "Baloney? Where??
- No offence for whoever made the background for the main screen, but maybe you should go for something a little bit more...professional looking? Maybe one of 'The Voices' work?
But overall, very cool.  :D

Aha!  TNUK said something of less than genius intelligence!

If these guys charge a dime for the game, fox will utterly pwn them on international copyright laws.  That's why fan games are worth supporting in the first place: they're guaranteed free entertainment.

That and this one kicks serious ass so far.

I've made a few voice bits based on some of Quit Lines:
Nixon Quitline
Zapp Quitline
Zoidberg Quitline 1
Zoidberg Quitline 2
They were done on the rush, unfortunately.
