It's been a long time since i read them. i think the powerpuff one wasn't god awful, but it wasn't exactly something i'd read again. As for the southpark one i don't think i actually made it all the way through it. I think i remember being put off by the way the two sets of characters came to be in the same place.

There's not a flaw on her anywhere. Hand her a stick and some chewing gum and she will save a spaceship from exploding. Sometimes she's an enhanced author insertion, but not always. Think Wesley Crusher from startrek. [This message has been edited by Venus (edited 01-14-2005).]

I do think of Drew as being an Auther Insertion who has a convienent habit of saving the day. That's why i don't really read your stuff i gotta admit.

Only in Scream does Drew actually save everyone. In the other ones she helps save the day but isn't the actual hero. And it's ok that you don't read my fics. I'm not the best and I'm sure you have a better taste than mine. [This message has been edited by Spacedal11 (edited 01-14-2005).]

i remember in Fry identity she always knew where to go and who to talk to. Seemed rather convienent. And not just the hero thing identifies her as an author insurtion. An author insurtion is sometimes a way for the author to live out their fantasy of being their favorite characters best friend. And the whole 'Drew is at Fry's place literally from sunup-sundown' sounds like a fangirls dream. It also prevents Drew from having any kind of life of her own and makes her a rather 2-demensional character. I don't think i have ever seen her in a scene by herself or not with Fry or Leela.

1. In TFI, she's a traveler. She met a lot of people and went to a lot of places. But otherwise I see your point. Then Drew is a version of what I'd like to be. So therefore if I was on Futurama, I'd want to hang out with Fry and Bender and everyone else. It's just I'm afraid that if I get too personal with Drew than people would get annoyed with it. I'm not the best writer, it's a fact. But I have fun with it. I'd just like a little-tiny-bit of slack, like 1%. That's all. And then I won't ask again.

i don't know what you mean by 'give you slack'. You mean 'A for effort'?just to point out: if you were on Futurama and were friends with the crew, you really wouldn't want to spend 24/7 with them. I have friends. Most people do. And i don't want to be with them from the moment i wake up to the moment i go to bed. And nobody wants to spend 24/7 with anybody. It's called 'alone time'. Not only would you get sick of them, they'd get sick of you. [This message has been edited by Venus (edited 01-15-2005).]

Just a positive thing about something I've done. But I won't make anyone actally say something. And I realize that I don't spend 24/7 with my friends but then I don't have many. And I'd rather be isolated and alone on a regular day.

Something positive hmm? Okay, despite what i think of the execution, some of the story concepts weren't bad.If you would prefer to not be with friends 24/7, why would Drew? Even Fry and Bender spend time alone.

Well I can't wait for Venus to post her fic (or should I say a novel) - I just love your writing style. As for Kif's story, well I've read your "Past with No Future on TLZ and I can't wait to get more... When Chapter 4 will be posted?? (soon I hope)...What more can I say... Write on!!! Awwwww swidzi, you're sweet!@Spacedal: "I suck" isn't a very good reason. You need to work on your character motivation. Everything everyone does they do for a reason. Having Drew do things just because you wish you could do them isn't good writing unless you can validly link it to Drew's psychology.

My fourth fanfiction, "Of Mice and Mensans," is now available to read at TLZ. So...uh... read it... please? Kif White, if you're by chance reading this, I noticed that the font you use on TLZ doesn't recognize the ellipse (...), and therefore replaces it with a question mark (?), resulting in many characters being a bit more inquisitive than previously intended; (this is mainly noticeable in my fictions because I abuse the ellipse like is some sort of trendy drug). Is there any way of fixing this? Anyway, I’m looking forward to that next part, Kif. Glad to see it's almost out.

Fixed. Though I used a very low-tech solution of adding a few spaces. Speaking of which, I didn't know those 3 dots actually had a name. You learn something new each day, I guess. Did you get my reply from yesterday, JBERGES? Just curious since I used my private email-account. Edit: and, yes, go read JBERGES fic, now. As I said in the update it's highly recomednable. Shippiness is down 88%, hillarity and jokes are up 103,2%. [This message has been edited by Helpy McHelphelp Teral (edited 01-16-2005).]

I'll be sending the slightly edited version of the ButterFry Effect I told you about earlier after I add some spaces in the middle of the ellipses.Wow, that was kinda offtopic. Uh... I especially enjoyed Leela's line, "Stay away from the young girl!" Cracked me up. I haven't read Mitch's crossover in a long time so I guess I should to compare. Not that bad though, it was similar to the show, Kim Possible I mean. Venus: Can't disagree. But then I was comparing myself to some of the better writers. I'll assume you think that I'm a winey kid who always tries to make it her way, I'm not usually. I write for fun. But I've been overwhelmed by this and have really been afraid to write. I don't really think it would matter if I stopped writing fics or not. So even though I make huge errors, that I will fix one day, and my chracter is 2 deminsional, I'll try and improve. I still don't want to submit any new fics though. But I will. Speaking of which. New Fic I'm working on. All in one part. The Fry Supremacy. Starts different and is in major detail. | Spoilers ahead! Highlight to read. |
|---|
In a room, with one window and burgundy walls, Drew sat on a bench staring at the floor. She was wearing a leather jacket over a grey tank-top along with long black boots. Her hair was only to her shoulders and it was bright red. Although anyone who knew her before she changed her style, also knew that Drew Vixen, was dead. And that the women on the bench was Lara Deon, a new identity. When she heard the door open, she looked up and saw Dr. Salk walk in. He was a tall thin man with brown hair. Salk: Hello Lara, how are you today? Lara: Fine. Listen, this is the only time I can feel comfortable with using my real name, so can we? Salk: I'm sorry Ms. Deon but you know why you can't say anything about that. Lara groaned. Lara: Fine! Fine if I'll be damned to never hear my old name again. Salk: But Deon is your name isn't it? Lara: My mother's maiden name. Lara was just some aunt of mine who died. Salk: I see. So what have you had this week. Lara rolled her eyes. Lara: A pack a cigarettes and two beers. Salk: You finished a whole package? Lara: Yeah what are you going to do about it? Salk: Lara, is something bothering you? Lara: What makes you say that? Salk: Well ever since you changed your name you've been acting- Lara: Disgruntled? Salk: I was going to say, deeply bothered. Have you been assigned another mission? Lara: Yes. But I don't want to take it. Salk: Why? Does it have something to do with you know what? Lara:...yes. Salk: Tell me Lara, what really did happen between you three? Lara: Let's see, it's been 5 years so I might not remember everything. But from what I do remember, after Leela, Fry, and I cleared our names we promised never to speak of this again. I was fine with that, but one day I got a call from the police in New New York saying that all of my ex-co-workers had been killed. They said that I had confessed to the crime but I hadn't even been back to New New York since the run for the mill thing. So I cleared my name, no problem. Salk: But what was your problem? Lara: I then later realized that my ex was killed when I went back to Nevada. I figured it must have been, Bender, so I tried to hide from him. I did hide from him, but he found me and tried to kill me. Now I'm Lara Deon who works for the FBI trying to catch Bender before he finds a new clan of killers. And every time Bender strikes, I get that much closer to being killed. Salk: And what is your mission now? Lara: A Russian spy was killed and they think that it was Fry who killed them. I have to find him before they do. I think Bender used a Fry-android to fool the feds. And Fry has to clear his name. Salk: So you must find him? Lara: Find him? Ha! He hasn't moved from South American I can assure you that. What I can't assure anyone is that he would help me or come and find me. Salk: Why not? You were their friend right? Lara: It was a fling. *She pauses* No, that's the beer talking. They're my friends but they gave up their lives of being spies and killing people. Salk: What has happened to him now? Lara: They're married, by "they" I mean Fry and Leela. They had a girl too. Lexica was her name I think. Lexi. She's four now. Salk: That you are sure of? Lara: Absolutely. I can't take him away from her. And if I don't go then I'll get fired. Salk: There's no upside is there? Lara: Not that I know of. And you wonder why I smoke! Salk: Well I really don't encourage it. Lara: No one does. Salk: Do you think you'll ever kill him? Lara: I don't care who kills him, just as long as he dies and doesn't escape like he did last time. Salk: Well best of luck to you. Lara: Why do I have to do it? I mean can't I get a break or something? Salk: I'm sure you'll get your break eventually. Lara: Ugh. I think I'll be dead by then. Salk: So, anything else? Lara: No. I think I can wait till next week. She stood up and walked over to Dr. Salk and shook his hand. Lara: You're money we'll be here by tomorrow. Salk: As always. I'll see you next week Lara. Lara: Thanks. Lara opened the door and walked to the lobby. She sighed when she saw a black man named Charlie was waiting for her. Lara: Charlie. She walked on pass him as he followed her. Charlie: Lara, you got a call. Lara: I thought I broke it off with Scott. Charlie: Not on that phone. The other one. Lara stopped and turned her head towards Charlie. Lara: What did he want now? Charlie: Well I figure it's best you listen to the message. He handed her the phone, Lara flipped to the messages and listened. Bender: By the time you get this, it will have been 10 minutes since I place the bomb in the building. If you can get out of here before it goes of in thirty seconds, you live. Lara deleted it. Lara: You waited until after, my appointment to give me this? Charlie: You were almost done when he called. Lara: And you still waited. We're on the third floor. She opened the stairway door. Lara looked down. Lara: How much time do we have left? Charlie: 20 seconds. Lara sat sideways on the railing and let herself guide down it. Lara: Do you want to blow up? Charlie: I'm coming. He ran down the stairs as Lara was already on the first staircase. They ran out the doors and onto the street. Charlie: Three...two...one... Just then the building caught fire and blew to pieces. Lara: Great, now I'll really need that therapy now. The two walked over to their motorcycles and started to drive off. |

No offense Spacedal11, but if you don't want to write any new fics then why do it? The only reason you should write is for yourself, not for any other reason. And, yes, do try to avoid the horrid Mary-Sue character. There are few things worse than this, IMHO.

If I did say something like that then let me restate it by saying, I'm in a withdrawl. But as much criticism as I get, I still like to write. I'll try and be better not to go into the Mary Sue character though. Thank you Kif, if that's what you meant. ------------------ All the things that Spacedal has missed since she was born 20 years too late: 1. Missed out on having her clothes actually fit in. 2. Well I was picturing Leela saying that in her serious tone. How you worded it was funny and picturing Leela say that was funny. If I knew what Mitch's old one was I'd re-read it. Also any thoughts (to anyone) for the short intro to my next fan fic above?BTW, got a new story I'm working on. It's not gorefest. I'm taking a little break from writing the gory stuff. Anyway, it's called Stung. Now lets see how long it takes anyone to figure out why it's called that. The plot: An alternitive ending to The Sting. Fry really is dead, Leela really is insane, and she's in an asylum. It's a cross between the Butterfly Effect, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and White Noise/Sixth Sense. I'll be sending part one eventually. It's a drama to say. Not suppose to be funny and not suppose to be bloody. Surprise surprise. [This message has been edited by Spacedal11 (edited 01-21-2005).]

| In this part, Fry and Leela show Kim Possible, Ron Stoppable and Rufus around their headquarters, while, at the same time, Ironfinger and Jinx are getting to know the villians Dr Drakken and Shego. Ah, I can feel the friction already. |

Nighttime. The most scariest time of the day. Maybe for some people, because they're afraid that the psycho killer from the horror movie they just watched will come and get them or that night brings out fear. Like it did for Leela. Leela spent her nights in the asylum, as usual. She never slept well. She was a crazy person now. It started when Fry died. I'm referring back to "The Sting" but with a different ending. Fry really was dead. Leela was so insane by that point that she saw him for a brief moment and then he was gone. Her fellow co-workers didn't know what to do with her. Leela was insane. She didn't have voices in her head, just dead people. Out of all of the women at the asylum though, she was one of the more sane ones. Through the entire week, Leela did the same thing each day. She woke up, took a shower, ate breakfast, wonder around the asylum for a while, find something to do (particularly reading), talk to her doctor and have a soothing hour, eat dinner, watch TV, go to sleep. Not a life she wanted. But a life that made her feel safe. Then she would often think of driving the ship through the galaxy delivering a package to some planet. She missed her friends too. It was Thursday, almost the weekend. Leela woke up, and took a shower. She went over to the cafeteria and had a small breakfast. Ever since she got there, she didn't eat much. Leela later talked to her doctor, Dr. Strode. Leela sat on the sofa and stared at him. She hated his beady brown eyes and his narrow nose. She disliked her doctor very much, mostly because he would secretly taunt her about Fry and how she was crazy. He would speak in code where if you listened well enough you'd hear the mocking. Strode: How are you feeling today? See anyone? Leela: I'm not a medium or anything. I just see people I know who are dead. Strode: I am full aware of that. I would like to tell you though that I might have a cure. Leela: For what? To bring Fry back from the dead or for me to get better? Strode: The second one. Leela: Really. How are you gonna do that? Wipe my memory? Strode: As a matter of fact yes. Leela gave him a confused look. Leela: Yeah. You're gonna wipe my memory. Strode: Only if you request it. We can erase Fry from your mind and you won't remember him. Leela: But what if I want to? Strode: Than you can continue to stay here for the rest of your life allowing Fry to drive you crazier. Leela: I don't want that. Strode: You know why you're here? Leela: I'm insane. Strode: Only because you let this Fry ruin your life since he died. Leela: But it is my fault. If I didn't make everyone go on the mission I would be ok and Fry wouldn't be dead. Strode: Things happen for a reason. Leela: Say what you want, I can never forgive myself. Strode: I'll let you decide. By the way, you have a visitor. It was Amy. Leela was placed in a room with guards and security cameras. Amy sat across from her at the table. She was so jealous of Amy. How she wore her normal clothes and Leela was trapped in a gown and lose hair. She felt like a rat. Leela never understood why they wouldn't let her wear her hair up. Amy: How are you? Leela: Fine. As good as it gets. How are the wedding plans going? Amy: Fine. I-I haven't found a dress yet but I'm sure I'll know. Leela: How is everyone? Amy: Fine. Nothing different. Leela: None of them have gone off the deep end have they? Amy: Bender still steals, The Professor is always mad, Hermes is still counting numbers, Drew is depressed but holding on, and Zoidberg is Zoidberg. And I’m getting married. Leela: I'm real happy for you. I wish I could be there. Amy: We'll send you a tape. Leela smiled. Leela could count on Amy to make her feel better. She wished that she could leave this place though, for just an hour at least to see her friends again. But the doctors say it would trigger a reaction and she would go nuts if she saw anything that reminded her of Fry again. Amy: I was talking to the doctors, and they said that they might have a cure. Leela: Strode told me. Amy: Oh. Are you going to do it? Leela leaned back. Leela: You're crazy. Why would I do it? Amy was going to say "no you're the crazy one" but didn't. Amy: Because it would make you feel great and you wouldn't be here anymore. Fry is the only reason you're here. Leela: So? Amy: I can't believe you. You know how depressed you've made everyone? I thought you had some common sense. Leela: Well it's not my fault that Drew is suicidal and Bender doesn't steal blood anymore. Amy: How can you say that? How the hell would you feel if Drew really did kill herself? How would you feel if something happened to one of us? Something bad. It would be Fry all over again. Leela looked sad. Leela: I wouldn't want that. Amy: You know, I want you to be at my wedding. I want you to be better. But if you stay as stubborn as you are now you'll never come around. Leela was silent, thinking. Leela: You really want me to do it? Amy: Like you wouldn't believe. Leela sighed. Leela: Ok. I'll erase Fry. Amy smiled she was very happy. Amy: I'm glad. Leela: But it'll just be Fry right? Not any of you guys. Amy: Nope. Leela: Ok. I'll be fine with it then. Amy: I'll go tell him now. She stood up and left the room. |
Hope that gets someone interested. [This message has been edited by Spacedal11 (edited 01-22-2005).]

Well James Bond always said his full name. I'm trying to keep the tradition of my parody. I may eventually get tired of it and stop doing that.
